Chapter 223 Radar

Finally got home, and I have been running around for a while. I just arrived at home and I first posted the saved manuscript... The soldier was ashamed and dared not say anything else, haha...

************************************

The action time was much faster than we thought. The next night we received an order to leave the nursing home, but the destination did not tell us, but just asked us to set off with Staff Zhang's convoy.

"Are you going to take action?" This is the first sentence I saw Chief Zhang ask in the jeep.

"Yes!" Zhang Commander nodded.

"Didn't it mean... it takes two days to assemble the radar?" Although I asked, I was still a little surprised after Officer Zhang received the affirmative reply.

Staff Officer Zhang blushed and replied: "That's the time to produce fake radars. The real radar was assembled yesterday."

"Um!" I could only smile bitterly when I heard this, and at the same time I understood one thing. Lin Xue's analysis was not wrong. After I discovered the truth, my superiors really didn't dare to use fake radar to take risks again.

"We suddenly changed the combat plan..." Lin Xue asked with some concern as she heard this: "Will the Vietnamese military agents be caught off guard..."

"If the Vietnamese agents can't even do this!" I continued Lin Xue's words: "Then they are not worthy of being our opponents at all, and it's a waste of our efforts to lead them to Beijing!"

"The same is true for the superior!" Zhang Chief Secretary nodded and responded: "And on the other hand... the less prepared the Vietnamese agents in this case, the safer the artillery radar will be, and the casualties of our army can be minimized! So the superior made this decision temporarily, and the action time is tonight!"

I have to admit that these considerations from superiors make sense, because if the Vietnamese agents have enough time to prepare and enough intelligence assistance, it will not be difficult to set up an ambush on the road. At worst, they will lay a large number of directional mines, explosives and other explosives in a certain area. As long as we enter their ambush circle, they will detonate the explosives... Then they rushed from the side of the road to the middle, and the battle will be over in a few minutes.

But now we obviously killed them without any defense, and the operation time was one day ahead of schedule. And it seemed that the operation time was not long after listening to Chief Zhang's tone, which means that the Vietnamese agents must formulate the entire combat plan and deploy the troops within a few hours.

It is not easy to do these things, so there are two choices in front of the Vietnamese agents. One is to hurry to continue launching a surprise attack on the gun-aiding radar, and the other is to watch us transport the gun-aiding radar away...

Which one will the Vietnamese agents choose? I am afraid that only the Vietnamese agents themselves will know this, and maybe they will hesitate because they will eventually choose to take action, because no matter who they are... they will not give up such a good opportunity.

Just imagine, it would be a great honor to blow up the cannon-aiding radar under the enemy's nose twice in a row, and the second time it was even the enemy's capital! This is no longer just a matter of honor, but also a great encouragement to the Vietnamese military and civilians, which will ruin our country's face in politics. The newly defeated Vietnam does need this now.

I turned my eyes to the car window. It was the time for nightlife. Several families on the roadside were drinking loudly under the lights and calling me brothers. There was no sense of crisis in the war. I couldn't help but envy them. I don't know when I can be like them. I don't have to consider killing or be afraid of being killed. Let's have a few drinks in the warm nest with a few friends. After that, I can still have a safe sleep...

These are very normal things for ordinary people, but for us, they are an unsatisfactory luxury!

Just as I was thinking about it, the jeep suddenly slowed down and then turned into a grain station. Lin Xue and I couldn't help but look at each other.

It is obvious that this is the place where gun-aided radar is stored. We originally thought that such important equipment should be stored in a place with a heavily guarded military factory or military base, but the fact is exactly the opposite.

With a "squeak...", the jeep drove in the grain station for a few minutes and stopped in front of a warehouse. Two staff members in work clothes, who looked like they were from the grain station, came up to open the door for us, but soon I realized that I was wrong because I saw General Zhang submitting their identification documents, and it was obvious that they were the alert force responsible for radar safety.

The two soldiers looked at the documents carefully and compared them with us one by one. After not finding anything abnormal, they led the way to lead the three and four men to the warehouse, including Staff Zhang.

The warehouse seemed to be no different from other warehouses for storage of grain from the outside. However, when we walked in through the small door, we realized that it was a different world... The warehouse was brightly lit, and more than a dozen Jiefang car were lined up in an orderly manner. Teams of PLAs carrying guns and live ammunition were busy inside. Some were standing guard, some were sorting out equipment, and some were carrying weapons and ammunition, looking very enthusiastic.

"Get together!" As a cadre shouted, the busy PLA soldiers gathered from all directions like streams that flowed into the river. Their movements were not much faster than those of our special reconnaissance brigade.

"Look to the left...Look forward! Take a moment..."

After a series of commands, the cadre trotted to Staff Zhang and reported: "Report to the leader, the 7th Company of the 119th Regiment of the Guard Team has been assembled. Please give instructions!"

"Yeah!" Staff Officer Zhang nodded with satisfaction and said to the soldiers who had just lined up: "Comrades! This is Captain Cui, the special reconnaissance brigade who led a company on Faka Mountain to block the attacks of several Vietnamese regiments. They have just returned from the front line to carry out missions with us. Welcome everyone!"

There was a crackling applause in the warehouse soon, and I couldn't help but be stunned. I was so stupid that I asked me to go up and speak. I didn't even know who these soldiers were doing what they did!

"Oh..." Looking at my puzzled look, Staff Zhang explained: "They are the radar guards, that is, the troops that assist you in the operation. There are a total of 135 people, all of whom are carefully selected soldiers!"

I understand what Chief Zhang said about "searching selection". It is not just about choosing military quality, but also about having stricter screening in terms of political stance or whether the origin is innocent. So I believe that all the soldiers standing in front of me have been subject to several reviews.

"Hello, Commander!" The cadre saluted me: "Zhou Changyue, the company commander of the 7th Company of the 119th Regiment of the Police Force, reported to Battalion Commander Cui, that all the officers and soldiers of my company firmly obeyed Battalion Commander Cui's orders! Swearing to protect the safety of the radar to the death!"

"Say a few words to your comrades!" Staff Officer Zhang nodded at me.

"Hello, comrades!" I walked up to salute the soldiers and said, "I won't say much about the importance of this mission. The comrades are all from the alert team, and I'm afraid they know this more clearly than me. What I want to say is... Do you know why we urgently escort the radar to the front line?"

"I know!" One of the soldiers replied: "Our radar was blown up by Vietnamese agents on the front line!"

"That's right!" I glanced at them and said, "I tell you, it is the group of Vietnamese agents who blew up our radar. They have lurked to Beijing and are hiding in the dark and giving us a fatal blow at any time. Are you afraid?"

"Don't be afraid!" the soldiers replied in unison.

"Very good!" I nodded and continued, "I believe you are not afraid. At the same time, I believe that the soldiers of the guards who protected the previous radar are not afraid like you, but the radar was still blown up by the Vietnamese agents! What does this mean? It means that it is not enough to be afraid of death. We must also keep a clear mind and sacrifice our lives to protect the radar at any time. Do you understand?"

"I understand!" the soldiers answered loudly.

Listening to their confident answers, I nodded with satisfaction.

"Captain Cui!" Not long after, Staff Zhang brought me to an inconspicuous thing and said, "This is what you want to protect - gun aiming radar!"

"What? This is the cannon-aiding radar?" I couldn't help but feel a surprise when I heard this.

Originally, I thought something as advanced as the cannon-aided radar might have a very amazing and strange appearance, but the truth is not the case. I have to admit my vision, because I have never noticed this thing that both us and the Vietnamese agents have been deliberately trying to get.

But I can't blame me, because this thing is really inconspicuous. Daqing is only as big as a howitzer, but it lacks a long barrel and baffle, and replaced by a nearly rectangular iron plate. Later I realized that this is not actually called an iron plate, it is called a radiator, which uses electromagnetic waves to emit externally to track the shells. Interestingly, it also has two wheels like a howitzer. I think it is set up for easy traction of the car.

"Battlefield Commander Cui!" Staff Zhang patted my shoulder and said to me seriously: "This is already the only cannon-aising radar in our country. You came down from the front line and should know the importance of this thing, so I won't say much. I'll leave it to you now. I hope you won't let us down, let our superiors down, and let the people of the motherland down!"
