Chapter 52 Advertising

Before the rise of television media, there were two channels for the public to obtain news and current affairs - newspapers and radio. Both of them were relatively easy and cheap, so their audience was extremely wide. In this case, Magic7's novel marketing techniques caused equally huge waves. Its attention was so high that many cities even launched a special program on the preview day - oral content played on TV at 8 pm.

In a sense, this is also a kind of live broadcast.

At 7 p.m., Los Angeles, under night, the city lights light up the sky.

The penthouse suite at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood is holding a small party.

Clark Gable escaped from the surrounds of the bells and found Reagan on the terrace.

"Bang!" After the two of them touched the glasses, Clark asked Reagan why he was alone here. Reagan shook his head, without explaining, but changed the subject: "Hey, do you remember the previous tenant in this suite?"

"Of course I remember." Clark took a sip and frowned and said, "This Roosevelt is really not worthy. I was so humble about him that he didn't even show his face."

"It's not his fault. He is busy participating in the governor's election and can't get rid of it." Reagan helped explain and waved his hand and said, "Clark, I mentioned this not to remind you of the scandal that day, but... I booked a hotel that day, and the other party used the name Magic7."

"Magic7?" Clark said in surprise: "It's the Magic7 that has spent a lot of money in newspapers recently?"

"That's right!"

Clark curiously said, "Magic7 belongs to his family? It's really surprising. It seems that our "Son of California" is not that... great. Speaking of which, they made the scene so big, what exactly are they going to sell? They came to Hollywood to shoot commercials. Reagan, you should know what it is."

"I do know...but I won't say it." Reagan did not correct Clark's minor misunderstanding. Magic7 was not the work of the "Son of California", but the second generation made it.

He waved his hand to Clark and said, "Anyway, the time is coming soon, so I won't spoil it."

On the other hand, the governor’s residence was very lively tonight.

To celebrate Robert's first appearance on the screen and to witness the real effect of the advertisements produced by Magic7, the Warren family, like many people, are ready to stay in front of the TV.

Before that, Nina prepared a much more hearty dinner than usual.

Tonight, Audrey is there too.

Evan personally took Audrey from home in the name of "witnessing history together."

There is no TV at Audrey's house.

This was the second time she had dinner with the Warren family. Unlike the last embarrassment and restraint, Audrey relaxed a lot this time.

After joining Los Angeles, Audrey has gotten along well with Warren's family. In Audrey's opinion, Nina is full of majesty but friendly and gentle, which makes her involuntarily think of her mother; Dora and Dorothy are as smart and clever as the twins, but one is outgoing and active, and the other is quiet and restrained; Robert, a handsome guy, although he is often bullied by twins, his head is also bright, that is, he likes to compete with Evan every day; Virginia is the most familiar, kind and has no temper, and is her ideal elder sister. Audrey likes this family after she finds out her temper, but she doesn't know much about Earl's head, and Audrey is still quite nervous when facing him. Of course, it's not her fault, who makes people not only Evan's father, but also the "son of California"!

Just after 7:30, the Warren family was already cleaning the dining table. The men...well, in fact, there were only three people in one large, one middle and one small, who were kicked out of the restaurant by women. The women worked together, some were cleaning up tableware, and some were preparing drinks and snacks. Audrey was no exception. She naturally participated in the women's labor.

Evan once thought about calling Audrey over and letting her accompany him, but he wisely dispelled the idea when he saw the intimacy between her and Nina.

"Evan, this girl is good!" Earl, who was sitting on the sofa in the big golden knife, said to Evan.

Evan said with a smug look: "Of course, what I'm looking for... can't it be bad? But, Earl, why do I think Audrey is a little afraid of you? So, Earl, can you smile more later?"

"Is that true?" Earl recalled the few exchanges he had with Audrey, nodded gently, trying to soften his expression.

There were many people and great power. Soon, the women who packed up came to the living room together, and brought together the washed and cut fruit platters, biscuits, iced drinks and freshly brewed black tea.

"Audrey, come and sit here!" Evan clapped his hands and greeted his girlfriend.

Audrey blushed. When she was hesitating whether to obey her, she was pushed by Virginia beside her, "Go over, no one laughed at you!"

Audrey turned around and patted Virginia slightly before sitting next to Evan.

Evan whispered: "How about it, isn't Nina's food delicious?"

When Audrey came last time, she didn't eat much, and Evan didn't have the nerve to ask.

Audrey nodded and replied, "Well, it's delicious, I've learned a lot with Nina!"

"Yes!" said Evan: "Then you have to come more in the future."

After a little chat, the clock was approaching eight o'clock. Robert turned on the TV, which was about the same size as his face, because the time had not yet arrived, there was nothing on the screen.

At this time, TV is a rare thing. Not only are there few TV users, but there are also few TV programs on TV stations, so few that they cannot even be broadcast all day. Take TV stations in the Sacramento area as an example, they will only be broadcast during the prime time every night. The so-called prime time refers to 8:00 to 11:00 pm.

This is also why Gillard sets the time for the advertisement to be broadcast at 8 o'clock.

As he turned forward little by little in seconds, Robert, who was anxious, simply sat down on the floor in front of the TV. Seeing this, Dora and Dorothy sat on both sides of him like their brother. Of course, the three of them paid attention to their position and did not block the others' sight.

"Evan, how long will it take?" Dora looked back at her brother and said, "Can you count down?"

"Okay!" Evan agreed happily, raised his left hand and held the watch with his right hand, and said, "It's exactly thirty seconds countdown, Dora, come together, 28, 27..."

Dora immediately followed Evan's rhythm and counted down: "26, 25..."

When it was 15, the TV suddenly rang.

"beep……"

This is the prompt tone for the start of the TV station.

Dora stopped counting down and looked at Evan strangely.

Evan smiled awkwardly and spread his hands and said, "It's not surprising that the watch is not on time!"

"Be careful, look, it's time to start!"

Dora quickly turned around and saw the TV screen flashing the station logo first, and then directly entered the main film - Robert, who looked handsome, appeared in the center of the screen.

Dorothy screamed, "Wow, it's Robert!"

I saw Robert holding something in his hand. As he raised his hand, the camera pulled closer until the thing occupied the entire picture - it was a Rubik's Cube. Then the background became bokeh and the camera turned around the Rubik's Cube. Because the picture was black and white, this Rubik's Cube was specially made, and it used numbers instead of colors to distinguish each side.

After the full picture of the Rubik's Cube was revealed, the Rubik's Cube suddenly turned irregularly, just like an invisible hand operating it. This section was made by shooting stop-motion animations.

Two seconds later, the originally neat Rubik's Cube was disrupted.

Then, the disrupted Rubik's Cube appeared in Robert's hand. After a passionate piece of music rang, he immediately turned the Rubik's Cube. At the same time, a large circular clock that was synchronizing the timing appeared next to Robert.

Of course, the trademark of the clock was removed.

In Robert's hands, the Rubik's Cube was quickly restored.

"Bang!"

As Robert slapped the Rubik's Cube in front of him, the timing stopped and the time was frozen on "22 seconds".

Then, Robert's figure disappeared, the picture focused on the timer, and a passage appeared next to it: "This is the Rubik's Cube... Can you still be faster?"

There is another line of small number one word below this line: "It will be available in major stores from tomorrow."

The last one appeared was the name of Magic7 company and the investment call.

This call is broadcast differently in each region. Gillard spent a lot of money on this.

This advertisement lasts thirty seconds, and the section restored by Robert in the middle is even a bit boring, but for viewers who have not been bombarded by TV advertisements, they still feel extremely fresh and shocking, and immediately became interested in the so-called "Rude's Cube" displayed in the advertisement.

As soon as the advertisement ended, the Warren family applauded together.

Earl praised Robert, "Good, good performance!"

Evan was more concerned about the effect of the advertisement and asked, "What do you think after reading it?"

Earl thought for a while and said, "It's very good. At least I remembered that this cube is called 'Rude' after reading it. I also want to try whether I can restore it within 22 seconds."

"A child can do it, I should be able to do it too, right? Many people should think so."

Speaking of this, Earl asked, "By the way, you didn't seem to say that if someone could restore it faster, there would be prizes or something?"

Evan asked with a smile, "Why do you have it?"

Earl thought about it and felt that it was really not necessary.

People nowadays are very poor in entertainment. If you don’t spend money, there is nothing else to play except poker and other things.

The advertising effect was recognized by his family, and Evan was very happy. Just as he was about to send Audrey home, Gillard, who was far away in New York, suddenly called.

Due to the time difference, the East Coast advertisement has been airing for several hours, and Evan probably came to report the good news.
