414. Town, Corpse, Half Steak(1/2)

The underworld should be a very dark place.

But the darkness here is not due to the fact that the dead are everywhere.

It's just because Niflheim, one of the nine worlds, is a country shrouded in thick fog all year round.

The heat emitted by the star cannot penetrate the layers of dense fog.

The blond man stood on the ground. No matter which direction he looked, it was covered with thick fog that could isolate his sight and magic power.

Hewen knew how disgusting he needed to be to act here, otherwise once his identity was exposed, he would probably die a crazy death and really leave himself in this place forever.

If not an eternity, then probably tens of thousands of years.

However, as a very good shapeshifter, as long as he doesn't stay here for too long and actively exposes himself, death will not be able to find him.

But the question before him now was how to know Vortigern.

He only has one clue.

That is what Vortigern once promised his soldiers. Even if they died on the battlefield, he would lead his soldiers to re-establish a prosperous empire in the underworld.

And Hewen believes that he will fulfill his promise.

So just find his kingdom.

Hewen moved forward in the endless fog.

The silhouette of a giant wolf flickered in and out of the thick fog, snake scales rubbed against the ground, a poisonous dragon kept swimming with bat wings, and twin devil dogs walked side by side.

Coming out of the fog was a seemingly ordinary-looking blond man.

The fog dissipates.

Ahead is a dilapidated medieval town.

Hevin entered the town through the unguarded gate.

Desolate and dead, this is the feeling this town gives people.

But in the underworld, such a situation makes people feel at ease.

The streets of the town are deserted.

But Hevin was certain that there must be a large number of dead people in the town.

Otherwise, the fog of death will also swallow up this town.

Baron Heven strolled slowly through the streets of the town.

There was a window behind him that was opened about three inches, and a pair of eyes looked at him from it.

As if a signal had been received, cracks were exposed in the windows one after another, and there were dense eyes all over the darkness, all of them staring at Hevin's back.

Hewen thought for a while, but still didn't grow the same number of eyes behind him to look back.

After all, he was just here to ask for directions, and most of the looks behind his back were not malicious.

The direction he headed was towards the center of the town - the mayor's residence.

But he failed to reach the mayor's home directly.

As he continued to move forward, fewer and fewer eyes opened the window to look at him, until they disappeared.

He could vaguely hear the sound of holding his breath.

A crowd was gathering on the road in front of him, and it looked like they didn't want to give way to Hevin.

The crowd was crowded, but not noisy.

It should be said to be a deathly silence.

There were more than twenty people standing in the middle of the road. Most of their clothes were in tatters. Only a few people's clothes looked neater and all of them were holding weapons, axes, and daggers.

, and some people were holding honest matchlock guns.

They are not here to wait for Hevin.

These people formed a circle, and in the center of the circle, something seemed to be happening.

One of the dead noticed Hevin's arrival.

The guy with rotten teeth turned his head, pointed at Hewen with the wooden stick in his hand, and said inarticulately:

"You, you, stop... stop."

Hevin stopped.

The other dead people also turned to look at Hevin.

Hewen said:

"I want to find the leader of your place."

A single, tall, thin man holding a matchlock squeezed his way out of the crowd.

He looked at Hewen and asked:

"Who are you? What do you want to do?"

Hewen said:

"I'm just a guy who wants to ask for directions."

The tall, thin man raised his matchlock and pointed it at Hevin, then stared intently at his face.

After observing Hewen's expression for a moment, he withdrew his gun:

"Not everyone can see our boss. If the price you pay is not as good as the information the boss gives you, then don't leave."

The tall and thin man looked up and down Hewen's luxurious and clean clothes and added:

"Everyone in this area abides by this rule, so you don't have any objections."

Everything has a price.

But this is not the rule of this area, but the rule of the entire underworld.

Not only did Hevin fail to expose his temptation, but he directly admitted his ignorance:

"No, I'm new here. I just follow your rules."

The tall and thin man waved his hand, and the crowd gave way to a path.

There are also dead people lying "dead" on the ground.

The road they cleared was not enough for Hevin to get around the body.

When Hewen walked halfway, he lowered his head and looked at the body curiously.

There were many new wounds on his body, and it looked like he had been beaten to death.

Hevin stepped over the body.

Then walk to the mansion in the center of the town.

In front of the house, there were two strong men who were obviously taller than the group of people just now, guarding the house.

When Hevin appeared in their sight, the two of them hugged Hevin tightly and at the same time tightened their hands on the double-barreled shotgun that did not belong to the same era as the clothes they were wearing.

Hewen walked up to the two of them, straightened his clothes and said:

"I want to visit your leader and ask about the way out."

The two strong men looked at each other.

A woman wearing a men's dress opened the door. She walked behind the two of them and looked at Hevin:

"Sir, please have dinner with me."

The woman's beautiful face showed no expression.

The janitor standing on the left said:

"your name?"

"Hervin."

The strong man nodded:

"No weapons."

Hewen raised his hands:

"I have no weapons."

Two strong men stood directly on both sides of Hewen, holding him in the middle:

"Come with us."

Baron Hewen walked into the mansion under the escort of two "bodyguards".

Unlike the dilapidated appearance outside, there are actually servants cleaning the mansion. Whether it is the paintings on the walls or the gilded statues, they are all very clean and beautiful.

The two "brought" Hewen to the restaurant on the second floor.
