Chapter 1
The capital of Hu Jian Province is called Hujiu City. To the east of Hujiu City, there is a mountain called Gushan, which is a famous local attractions. There is a temple on the mountain called Yongquan Temple.
Local chronicles record: Yongquan Temple is the highest of Fujian temples and is one of the key temples in the country. The temple is built on the hillside of Gushan, which is 455 meters above sea level, covering an area of about 1.7 hectares. It is Xianglu Peak in front and Baiyun Peak in the back. There is a unique architectural pattern of "no temple to enter the mountain, no mountains to enter the temple to enter the temple". Yongquan Temple was first built in 783 and was originally named Huayan Temple. It is said that the place was originally a deep pool with poisonous dragons inside, which harmed residents. In the fourth year of Jianzhong in the Tang Dynasty (783), Pei Zhou, the county employed in the county, asked Master Lingjiao to subdue it. The master recited the Huayan Sutra on the bank of the pond, and the dragon left. Everyone was deeply impressed by the teacher's virtue and went to the pond site.
When the temple was built, the emperor ordered the plaque of "Huayan Temple" to be given to him, which was called Huayan Temple. When Emperor Wuzong of Tang destroyed Buddhism, Huayan Temple was destroyed. In 908, King Shenzhi of Fujian built the new temple "National Master Pavilion". In 915, it was renamed Yongquan Zen Temple in Baiyun Peak of Gushan. During the Song Dynasty, Emperor Zhenzong of Song gave him "Yongquan Zen Temple". In 1407, it was renamed Yongquan Temple. In the Ming Dynasty, the temple was destroyed twice by fires, and was successively restored and expanded to form its current scale. In 1699, the imperial book "Yongquan Temple" issued by Kangxi is still hanging high above the gate of the Tianwang Temple.
Before we could reach the Banshan Pavilion of Yongquan Temple, men, women, and young people who were climbing the mountain rested here. On the edge of a quiet open space hundreds of meters away from the Banshan Pavilion, a young man with a childish face looked extremely energetic sitting on a stone like a lying cow. Under the stone was kneeling a young man who looked extremely ordinary.
At this time, a conversation was in which outsiders seemed strange, and some might think it was making a movie.
The young man was dressed in plain clothes, kneeling on the ground, looking respectful, holding his hands in front of him, and bowing sincerely: "Master, just accept me. I will definitely study hard and work hard!"
The old man asked with a funny expression with a little expectation: "Oh, why should I accept you? There are so many people who can work hard, why is it you?"
"Because of fate, you see, I have been to Gushan several times and I have encountered you practicing boxing here, and I like to practice boxing. Isn't this fate?" The young man seemed a little confused about what to say, and then bowed and said, "Please accept me!"
The old man smiled and said, "There are many people who have seen me practice boxing, and many people who like to practice boxing. This is not a reason. I am used to being idle and too lazy to teach others."
This was undoubtedly rejected!
The young man kneeling on the ground did not give up and asked, "I really study and really like the set of boxing you played. How can you accept me and teach me this set of boxing?"
The old man looked at the young man in front of him and said seriously: "The old saying goes well, don't seek fate. It's not impossible to learn from me. It's just that you can get something if you give up. It depends on whether you can give up or not."
If others hear this, I am afraid that I will feel a little murmur. Is this going to ask for money? However, the young man did not think too much, but asked: "Can you say it? I will do my best to do what I need to do! I really want to learn."
The old man smiled and said, "I don't know what your name is, what job you do? How much money do you make in a month? How much money do you still have in your bank card? I'm not in vain, I need to pay tuition."
Hearing this, I was afraid that I would have to cover my wallet when I came back, but the young man didn't think much about it and replied: "Senior, I'm too anxious. My name is Lu Yanning, I'm a local. I'm 23 years old. I'm currently engaged in business. My monthly salary is not too high. Normally, it's about 3,000 yuan. There's still 10,000 yuan in my card." After a pause, I asked again: "I wonder how much tuition is required to learn this set of boxing for you?"
In fact, Lu Yanning brags. He is a salesperson and his monthly salary is less than 2,000 yuan. However, the card really has more than 10,000 yuan saved in more than a year since his work. On weekdays, his biggest hobby is practicing boxing. The Nan Shaolin boxing he learned when he was a child requires too much money because: he is still a single dog!
As for why bragging, this is somewhat because it involves the face issue of young people. As the saying goes, "Nine out of ten men are bragging!" He is not the exception, but like most people.
The old man did not go around and said directly: "I don't teach boxing alone, but I accept disciples. If you want to take me as your teacher, give me your bank card and give me your salary for the next year, I will accept you!"
When ordinary people hear this, they are afraid that they will scold them, "It's too dark." You should know that martial arts are not popular now. It's only six or seven hundred yuan to study in a martial arts hall for a month. The cheaper ones may even cost three or four hundred yuan or less. At this time, the housing prices in Hujiu City are only about two thousand yuan per square meter.
Many people may be too influenced by novels, movies and TV, and always think that the person who charges a liar. If you become a disciple, you will not only need money, but also give a gift from the master. But they never thought about why others are suffering and burdened to teach you?
However, I don’t know if Lu Yanning is stupid or too simple, or really likes the old man’s boxing skills, so he took out his wallet without saying a word and took out the bank card. Not only the bank card, but also took out the hundreds of dollars in the wallet, presented it with both hands, and said with a sincere look: “Please accept me as your disciple!”
The old man was a little stunned, as if he didn't expect that the young man in front of him could really take out all his wealth so simply. After hesitating for a while, he reached out to take the bank card and cash handed to him by Lu Yanning, and asked, "Don't you think about it? Maybe I only know this kind of boxing style?"
When Lu Yanning saw the old man accepting it, he was very happy. When he heard the old man’s questioning, he looked serious and said sincerely: “Don’t think about it, I really like it!”
The old man nodded and said, "That's it, you kowtow."
Seeing Lu Yanning kowtowed three times, the old man said: "I am from Wudang, my surname is Guo, and my name is Tongwei. You can learn from you from now on. Get up, don't kneel down."
Lu Yanning knelt on the ground for a long time. The ground was not comfortable, and his legs were a little numb. He struggled for a while before he stood up.
Taoist Guo seemed to be quite satisfied with Lu Yanning's attitude, nodded, and said kindly to Lu Yanning: "I like your attitude towards studying very much, let's learn first. However, there is one thing that you should be more careful about people in the future and don't trust people easily." After saying that, he counted three cash, handed out the bank card and the remaining cash back, and said: "You are so young and have not yet started a family. You still have to take care of your parents. You can take back the money and I will accept the three hundred yuan. This is the rule. If you don't have it, the three hundred yuan is a Dharma letter."
Lu Yanning was stunned for a moment. The money he received was returned? He did not suspect that this was another test. He quickly shook his hand and refused, and said sincerely: "Master, this is what the disciple is sincere and willing. How can he take it back? Master, you just accept it. The disciple is still young and can still make money."
If you are willing to give up, you will gain only if you give up. He still understands this principle, let alone the teacher gives gifts. This is natural. I remember that when Saint Confucius accepted disciples and students, he had to take some training. If he was a disciple, he would not have any expression, let the teacher drink the northwest wind?
However, Master Guo pushed the things in his hand towards Lu Yanning and smiled and said, "Do you think I have no money to eat when I am old, right? You are thinking too much. As a teacher, he used to have a job, but he just retired for a few years and was so idle that he was only wandering around. He is not a poor old man who has no money to eat. Besides, I have children and I can't be hungry! I asked you to take them back and take them back and give me all the money. What do you eat and drink tomorrow? Can you still ask your parents for money when you are so old?!"
Lu Yanning: "..."
Well, I thought about it and had no way to refute it. Seeing that the master insisted, he had to blush and take back the money and bank card. The elders said whatever they were. He has been a "three good students" since he was a child, but he would not refute the elders.
Some people may think that he has no opinion, but in fact he just respects his elders. If the elders are really wrong, he will also start from other perspectives or matters in the future, rather than refuting them in person.
What Lu Yanning didn't know was that this prayer today changed his life from then on.
Many years later, Lu Yanning recalled what happened today, and finally classified it into two words: fate.
He was originally a small salesperson, and went to the convenience store in the mountain attractions to promote products. He accidentally saw an old man practicing boxing several times. Lu Yanning, who had loved practicing boxing since he was a child, suddenly came forward and knelt down to study. It can be said that it was a pity.
If he hadn't had this prayer today, he might have been like most people, working and marrying a wife and having children for a dull life. Then, naturally, there would be no more exciting things that came later.
Many years later, Lu Yanning told his disciples about what happened today, and sighed: "If you wait a few years and see more, the result may be completely different. You may not dare to come forward to become a disciple; after kneeling down, you may not be able to do it with your master's request. Instead, you may suspect that you have encountered a liar. Fortunately, there is no if, only the result. This can only be attributed to fate!"
Then, the old and the young went down the mountain together, recognized the place at the foot of the mountain, and Lu Yanning left his mobile phone number before leaving with joy.
Before leaving, Lu Yanning asked, "Master, why don't you have a cell phone? Why don't I buy one for you?" In fact, he was somewhat selfish, hoping to find someone when he came here, so as not to be idle.
Taoist Guo laughed, "Why use that thing? It makes it convenient for others and makes things difficult for yourself. Go back quickly. I will call you if you have something to do. Remember to come tomorrow. It's almost late, so I won't keep you."
