unexpectedly ugly

Ji Jinyao's whole body was cold. She turned around and wanted to leave, but her legs seemed to be filled with lead and she couldn't move a step. [ ]

Lin Luowei came in from the front door and saw Ji Jinyao standing next to Ye Lingyin, looking at her with a pale face. His heart sank, and he walked quickly and took Ji Jinyao into his arms, staring at Ye Lingyin with wary eyes.

Lingyin, acting like a protector, said, "Ye Lingyin, what did you say to Jinyao!"

"Why are you so fierce?" Ye Lingyin lowered her eyes and said aggrievedly, "I just asked her if she wanted to watch the fireworks together on Christmas Eve."

"Who would believe those nonsense of yours!" Lin Luowei glared at her. Whenever he saw Ye Lingyin's innocent expression, he felt a sense of distress in his chest.

"Since you don't believe it, why bother asking me." Ye Lingyin showed a confused expression.

Lin Luowei clenched his fists, and after a long time, he released his fists, took a deep breath, and forced himself to calm down.

Ji Jinyao was held in his arms, her head just reached his shoulders. Their posture was so ambiguous, it was really imaginative.

Ye Lingyin hated seeing them being so intimate. She lowered her eyes and suddenly saw a few thin pieces of paper stuck in the pocket of Lin Luowei's jacket.

Half of the paper was folded into a rectangular shape, and her familiar face was printed on the black and white photo: a featureless single eyelid covering one third of the pupil, making the eyes even duller, and her lips were grinning like a smile, but it was not genuine.

The inner smile may be trying to cover up the uneven teeth. The smile looks weird and inferior...

There were densely packed Song fonts below, and a few words touched her memory:

Qingrui...was born...in a fire...both parents died...adopted...missed...

Ye Lingyin's pupils shrank, and she didn't even notice that her fingers were trembling slightly. She filed her nails to one side and made scratches like sand on the smooth and transparent nails.

Lin Luowei noticed the sudden change in Ye Lingyin's expression. He lowered his head following Ye Lingyin's gaze and saw the information in his pocket.

Lin Luowei was stunned, took out the paper and threw it on Ye Lingyin's table, and asked coldly: "Do you know Ji Qingrui?"

"Qing Rui..."

Ye Lingyin looked at the paper on the table, as if reminiscing, her eyes were ethereal.
