Chapter 16: Phase I Students(2/2)
"But everything given by God has a price."
What was the price? Before he could hear clearly, the world in front of him fell into darkness.
When Alaz woke up again, he found himself lying on the beach in Pagasai Bay.
The sun shone between the sea and the sky, his body was wet, but everything seemed to be very calm.
He looked down and saw that there was only one shoe left on his feet and the other one was missing.
The sea breeze has a moist and salty taste.
He sat up and looked up at the shimmering sea, his heart full of doubt.
At this moment, his eyes were attracted by something on the beach - a letter.
The envelope looked ordinary, but when Araz approached, he found that the envelope was not simple.
It is made of off-white material, with some beautiful words written in green ink. However, these letters are completely unfamiliar symbols in Araz's eyes, curved and inconspicuous.
——Alaz doesn’t know much, and the environment he lives in determines his cultural level.
The envelope seal is sealed with a bright red wax, with a complex insignia engraved on it:
An iron crown surrounded by delicate metal arcs, dotted with twelve gems burning like stars.
There is also a small obsidian star in the center of the crown, with fine runes covered on the surface.
He picked up the envelope, his slightly rough fingers fumbled through the edge of the wax seal, but these delicate symbols still couldn't provide him with the answer.
Just as he was confused, the iron crown emblem suddenly shone with a slight light, and then a warm and wonderful feeling surged into his mind.
【bite--】
[Civilization continues and has been engraved!]
This voice did not come from the outside world, but appeared directly deep in his consciousness.
Araz was so shocked that he almost threw away the envelope, but the next second, he suddenly realized...he could understand the words on the envelope!
Not only that, these words are no longer simple symbols, but like knowledge engraved into the depths of his soul. No matter how complex the words are, he can clearly understand them.
He lowered his head and read carefully the content on the envelope:
[Northwest coast of Pagasay Bay, No. 3 Shoal, three kilometers away from Irkos City - Alaz Trilinkas Suo!]
This is where he is currently.
Such precision made Araz feel both scared and shocked. Moreover, he didn't even recognize the pronunciations of these letters before, but at this moment he fully understood their meaning.
Alaz Trinkas has always been...
I am very envious, very envious, very envious... those who can understand words and those who can read books.
Those who can open the pages and read out the contents fluently, in Araz's eyes, seem to have mastered some great magic.
He once secretly heard a wandering scholar who could read a story in a dilapidated temple beside Irkos. It was the first time he knew that the book could contain the entire world.
From then on, he stubbornly believed;
People who know literacy, people who read, people who write books, those who can touch knowledge and enter stories...
——They are the happiest existences in the world.
Now, such happiness actually came to him.
He can understand the words!
This feeling was like a sudden miracle that made him unable to believe it or squander it.
He subconsciously looked down at his hands, his fingers that were rough due to the years of fishing and were stained with sand and soil.
He frowned and quickly wiped his fingers on the corner of his clothes, trying to clean them up.
He felt that words were a sacred thing, and their dirty hands were not worthy of touch.
With awe and endless desire for words, Araz carefully turned the envelope over and slowly opened it from the seal.
The red wax seal made a slight sound when it broke, like the beginning of a ritual.
He held his breath and gently pulled out the letter paper inside with his hands. It was a thick piece of letter paper with a soft luster, and golden handwriting flowed on the paper.
Araz held the letter paper as if he was holding a priceless treasure.
His eyes greedily looked at every word in the letter, fearing that he would miss any details, and even more fearing that he would suddenly lose this miraculous - reading ability.
His eyes swept through the flowing words without blinking, and his heart was filled with a complex emotion - both a yearning for the unknown world and an ecstasy for finally being able to access knowledge.
