Chapter 12 Cards and Pandas(2/2)

"Just as you are a microcosm of human community, so am I.

I represent the black and white tribes of the forest who dance with their cat-like steps.

Any one of them can speak or act if they so desire.

But they didn't. They were all lost in an atmosphere of self-despair.

It seems that I am the only one left who can break out of this ouroboros-like cycle and have the ability to focus on something other than this."

Xia Xiu was silent for a moment, looking directly into the panda's black and white eyes.

"You are the embodiment of will and the spokesperson of a species.

I'm curious, what made you break out of this cycle?"

The panda moved slightly, its hair trembling slightly in the breeze, and whispered:

"Despair is often the heaviest shackles of a group, and will is the only key that can break the shackles."

After Xia Xiu heard this, he slowly stretched out his hand and rubbed his chin, his eyes still fixed on the unique panda in front of him.

"It's hard for me to imagine that a being as powerful as you would fall into such a situation. What exactly have you experienced?"

The panda's eyes narrowed slightly, as if recalling a long and heavy history. It said slowly:

"Our memory is not perfect. In order to survive, we sacrificed too much, and even the details of those sacrifices are blurred. But I will tell you everything we remember."

Xia Xiu nodded and signaled it to continue.

"Before that law appeared," the panda's deep voice seemed to carry echoes of ancient times.

"We are an inconspicuous small tribe, but we have lofty ambitions. We hide in the shadows of more advanced tribes, learn from them, constantly enrich ourselves, and prepare for the day of sublimation. We were once very close to success,

That's when the 'Devil of Things' appeared."

Xia Xiu frowned, a trace of doubt flashed in his golden eyes:

"The Demon of Things, the Demon of Screams, what exactly is that thing?"

Panda explained in a deep voice:

"It is a law, an existence whose essence is destruction.

When it first came, our world was torn apart.

Those screamers who ascended from the lower world have distorted shapes, and their cores are full of hunger, fear and despair.

They are not invaders, they are just trying to escape the "demon of events".

But their desperation makes them attack without hesitation, as their endless hunger drives them to tear everything apart.

They take away from us the skill of the hunter, the desire for meat, and the ability to feel joy in victory."

The panda paused, with a trace of unconcealable pain in his eyes:

"After they left, we realized that the real threat was not them, but the thing they were fleeing from - the 'demon of the situation'.

It is a realm of nothingness that swallows everything, tearing everything that enters into pieces through sharp fractal laws, and ultimately brings the entire world to destruction."

He heard this familiar tone, the ancient one had spoken to [Green Clothes] once before.

"Isn't there a concrete way to defeat it?"

"No." Panda replied bluntly.

"It's growing and swallowing.

Panic engulfs us, and in order to survive, we try to ascend and escape its spread.

But we have lost too much, and we are no longer a complete existence.

When we seek help from our allies, we are forced to devour them to replenish what we have lost.

This chapter is not over, please click on the next page to continue reading! In the end, we succeeded in ascension, but we also became the same existence as the abominable Screamers we originally regarded as abominations.”

Xia Xiu listened quietly without interrupting.

"We struggled to survive in another world, but were besieged by more powerful existences. Those existences eventually witnessed the arrival of the 'Demon of Things', and its edge tore everything apart.

Only one tribe found a way to survive - they gave up everything, even their past, leaving only their sincerity, and thus entered the depths of the Demon of Things, where they reinvented themselves."

The panda's voice trembled slightly, as if these memories still hurt it:

"We tried to imitate, but our pride and ambition prevented us from completely abandoning ourselves. We were torn apart, twisted, and finally became what we are now - a forest, a group of beasts, and a few individuals dancing among them.

"

"What is your request?"

Xia Xiu's voice was low and calm, and his eyes did not leave the panda.

The panda looked at him deeply:

"We are dying without the ability to change the world and shape it into what we want it to be.

The 'Demon of Things' must be destroyed, and we...we must survive."

Xia Xiu's hand slowly tightened his cane. He lowered his head and thought for a moment, then raised his head. An imperceptible light ignited in his golden eyes:

"The goal of destroying the 'Devil of Things'... sounds far-fetched, but perhaps, it is not completely hopeless."

The panda nodded, with a hint of expectation in his tone:

"Will you help us?"

"Of course, it's just that we need to carefully weigh the price of dealing with it."

Thus said the fourth sword-bearer in the Kingdom of Heaven.

The panda was silent for a moment, and then said softly:
