Chapter 97

Three Generations of Kings

"Initially, Moon Guardian King chose ○ and gained the power of lightning. He was the light descended from God, leading us to defeat one powerful opponent after another and leading us to the final victory.

His colors are as bright as a peacock, his majesty is as immeasurable as the sky, he is both heaven’s grace and heaven’s wrath.”

On the mottled mural, an ancient Indian wearing a crown sits high on a throne, holding high a scepter inlaid with the Eye of the Original Man. Behind him are dark thunderclouds and lightning, and countless figures kneel at his feet.

.

Sanskrit is carved in a corner of the mural, which is a historical trace left by the ancient muralists, recording the unknown side of the greatest civilization in ancient Indian history.

Perhaps if we let today's experts interpret it, they would think that this was the conjecture of ancient people about things they did not understand, but people who really live in this world will know that all of this is true.

After passing the largest portrait at the beginning, the murals at the back appear much smaller and more exquisite. Most of the paintings depict wars or trivial matters in life, and there are no annotations by the muralists.

But Lu Mingfei watched with even more interest. Whether it was the Singaporean professor or the employer of this mission, the information they provided did not contain these portraits, and these irrelevant contents were not within the scope of their plans.

Therefore, reading information is far inferior to on-the-spot investigation, and on-the-spot investigation is not as good as personal experience, but now he can only observe the scenery of that era through these murals.

A war-loving country, with many wars engraved on the murals, and enemies from all directions all year round. The content of life only occupies a small part. The Maurya Dynasty seemed to be born for war.

The two armies are fighting, the envoys are visiting, and the city is being invaded. This is the main theme in the front section of this mural corridor. War is still war, fighting all the time, as if that is their reality.

This is also a historical portrayal of the Maurya Dynasty. The first king conquered northern India and started a prosperous moment for the dynasty. This was a violent victory.

In these murals, you can often see depictions of lightning with unknown meanings, which seem to be the king's terrifying means of attacking his opponents, because as long as lightning appears, the opponent will not be able to form a resistance force at all.

Chandragupta Peacock, from his surname, it can be seen that his background was not noble. He was probably born in a family that raised peacocks, and he was a Kshatriya.

In terms of blood, unless he has undergone mutation, it is impossible for him to have such powerful power and power. Is this the power of the Original Eye?

It allows people to have a stronger bloodline. No wonder the Indian wants to obtain this treasure. He also wants to master such terrifying power.

Power is always so intoxicating. Even if countless people fall on this road and leave bloody consequences for future generations, those who walk on it firmly believe that they will be the final winner.

Until we came to the second huge mural, Chandragupta Peacock believed in Jainism in his later years and died on a hunger strike. The second king, Bandoushatra Peacock, succeeded to the throne.

He held the scepter inlaid with the original eye and sat on his father's throne. People from all directions paid their respects to him. Everything seemed to be the same as the beginning of the mural corridor, but the only thing missing was the depiction of lightning.

This was a conservative king and the consolidater of the Maurya Dynasty. He completely consolidated the country that had risen due to the war, restored exchanges with the four parties, and promoted the circulation of humanities.

He did not have any great achievements in his life, and he led far fewer wars than the first generation king, but without him, this dynasty would have been destroyed long ago.

A country created by pure war cannot survive for a long time. Therefore, as a consolidater, he played a connecting role and supported this precarious country.

This is the content engraved in the mural corridor, just like the words engraved on the mural of Bandou Shadra's enthronement, which summarizes his life experience.

"He is the guardian of the dynasty. He does not have the great achievements of Lord Chanddha, nor does he have the grand ideals of King Ashoka. But it is precisely because of this king that we can wait for the great King Ashoka.

Praise this great king who brought us Ashoka, who brought us peace and tranquility."

From this text, we can infer that the muralist painted it during the Asoka period. He highly praised Asoka, and even his depictions were more colorful than the previous two kings.

Moreover, he was more familiar with this contemporary king, and there were more murals about Ashoka than the previous two kings combined.

Black clouds and lightning intertwined on one side, while white clouds and red flames occupied the other side. In the middle was King Ashoka sitting on the throne, holding a scepter inlaid with the Eye of the Original Man, accepting the kneeling worship of his subjects.

"The king also inherited the family at first, launched countless wars, wiped out all the kingdoms on this land, and unified the entire India.

But he witnessed the loss of a large number of human lives, and then believed in Buddhism, implemented peace throughout his life, chose △, and built a true heaven and earth.

He is the savior of suffering, the true God in the world, and the ultimate in all our faiths. Brahma is protecting him."

It can be concluded from this passage that the painter of the mural believed in Brahmanism, but he highly respected Ashoka, who believed in Buddhism. This is so unbelievable for people who know how severe the dispute over religious traditions is.

But this further illustrates the charisma of Ashoka's personality. He even conquered believers from other sects and made them praise the heretics so much.

The following content is easy to understand, starting with the experiences he suffered before he ascended the throne.

For example, he killed a lion with just a stick, was sent to suppress a rebellion on the border, and killed his brothers while fighting for the throne.

After he ascended the throne, he was as brave as before he ascended the throne. He personally led his troops to conquer kingdoms one after another and established the rule of the Maurya Dynasty.

It wasn't until I came to Jilingjia Kingdom that I witnessed the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives and understood the value of life.

He converted to Buddhism and chose peace. The black lightning in the picture ended here and was replaced by chiseled flames. This is also a single large mural, the picture of the black and white dragons fighting, but he did not

The single annotation suddenly occupies the entire wall.

The two special symbols ○ and △ must be related to these two dragons. Lu Mingfei had an intuition that this sudden change was also closely related to the design of the gate.

The ancient historical scrolls slowly opened in front of him, revealing to him the truth hidden in history, which was another side unknown to the public.

After passing the mural of black and white dragons fighting, the next step is Ashoka's governance plan to implement the concept of peace.

He prohibits killing, and all unnecessary killing is not allowed. Livestock can be slaughtered for food, but unnecessary waste cannot be caused; mountains and forests or abandoned farmland cannot be set on fire because small animals live there.

Although he believed in Buddhism, he did not prohibit the spread of other sects. Brahmanism, Jainism and their traditional culture could all coexist.

His laws and ideas spread to the surrounding countries, causing the great rise of Buddhism and making countless people admire this peace-loving king.

His non-violence remains to this day and is a treasure in human history.

"If we are lucky enough to meet again, we can sit down and have a chat."
