Chapter 29 Breakthrough

The diving troops set off late at night, and this time should be the time when the enemy slept the most. Before that, in order to ensure the safety of the diving troops, we deliberately sent several troops to the Nagang River to fetch water. Three batches of them were not dangerous, so that the diving troops would bring their equipment to the road. The soldiers laughed and said that the Yue Japanese must have scared me during the day.

But I don't think so. Because I know that in this era there was a weapon called night vision. When the US military withdrew from the Vietnam War, it left a large number of American equipment here, so as the third division of the Vietnamese ace force, there must be such a weapon in its hands.

So I believe that the reason why the Vietnamese army did not act at night was not because they were afraid of me, but because they felt it was unnecessary. Just as the soldiers thought before, our two companies, plus more than 20 tanks, had been surrounded by them like iron barrels. The Vietnamese army could destroy us at any time. In addition, we knew that there was a sniper master like me in our army, so there was no need to use a precious sniper to take this risk.

But what they didn't know was that they underestimated the enemy and took it for granted. There was no such thing as "resolute victory" in everything on the battlefield without the last moment.

The dive team brought diving equipment and dozens of kilograms of TNT explosives. Of course, those explosives were waterproofed and air cushions were installed to neutralize their weight in the water.

But I didn't see this because the person who saw off was Battalion Commander Wu and several tank soldiers under him. Their mission was to cover the divers and help them deliver diving bottles, explosives and other tools to the water, and then they returned.

To be honest, I was still a little nervous at this time. Because I knew that once divers dived into the water, there was very little chance of being discovered. It was safe to place explosives in Banweng Dam. Even if the Vietnamese army arranged people to guard and patrol the dam, this was the directional thinking of people. They always focused on the jungles on both sides of the river bank or some other place, and would not expect that someone would come out of the water and place explosives for the river basin under their noses...

Therefore, the most dangerous place is actually the moment before entering the water. During this whole process, I was staring at the sniper position above the high ground and staring at the thatched bushes opposite. Although it is difficult to find enemies six hundred meters away on this moonlit night, if an enemy fires, I can counterattack with the flames emitted from the opponent's muzzle.

But my concerns were obviously redundant, because I soon discovered that Captain Wu and the others had returned.

"It's going well!" I asked casually.

"Yeah!" Captain Wu nodded, and then sighed heavily: "They are all good comrades!"

I can understand Captain Wu’s mood. Life and death on the battlefield are beyond our control or prediction, but life and death at this time seem to be a foregone conclusion and can also be predicted. This is like a person with cancer knows how long he has life, which is often even more uncomfortable.

Do those divers still have hope of survival? I have to admit that the chance of survival is very small, because they must ensure that the explosives explode without letting the enemy discover them. Otherwise, the enemy will soon guess from their wetsuits that the river dam is passive and remove the explosives in time.

Commander Wu looked at the watch on his wrist, and then ordered a tank soldier beside him: "Operation!"

"Yes!" The tank soldier responded, and led a few people to his tank, then activated the engine. The rumbling motor sound made the sleeping birds in the jungle fly in a row. The Vietnamese army was obviously awakened by the movements we made, and used mortars to shoot a few flares to our position. But we didn't care about these at all, and still led the tanks one by one into the jungle of the highlands.

Seeing this scene, the Vietnamese army would definitely be wondering: How could these Chinese soldiers pull the tanks to the high ground? Isn’t this seeking death?

But what they don’t know is that sometimes the dead end is the way to live.

Vietnam's climate has a characteristic, that is, it is divided into dry and rainy season. From November to March of the second year is the dry season, and the rainfall is less. From April to October, it is the rainy season, with abundant rainfall and rivers flooding. It is precisely for this reason that the self-defense counterattack war was launched on February 17. Because the plan for this battle is to fight for three weeks, and it can end before the rainy season begins on February 17.

The function of the reservoir is to store water during the rainy season for use during the dry season. Because in Vietnam, the boundaries of the dry season are clear and the time intervals are long, the reservoirs are generally built larger.

Of course, I also hope that the larger the Banweng Reservoir upstream, the better, the larger the reservoir, the more water the water is, the more powerful it will be. But I still don’t want the water that rushes down to wash away our Type 63 tanks. After all, the Type 63 tanks can be suspended in the water. When the water comes, it will all go with the flow and cannot be controlled. That is not what I hope. This is why I want to drive the tank to a high place.

It is really not easy to drive one tank after another in the dark. Although we had already overturned the high ground during the day and guided the tanks one by one in front, an accident still occurred: the tracks of a tank were trapped in a big pit for a long time and could not get out.

"Everyone inside comes out and push this tank down the mountain!" This was how Battalion Commander Wu ordered.

This was the right decision because it blocked the road from a dozen tanks behind, and time seemed to be insufficient.

"No!" The captain emerged from the inside: "What else can we use to fight if we push the tank down the mountain? We don't agree!"

"If you don't agree, you have to agree! This is an order!" Captain Wu was a little angry.

"If you want to push, push!" The captain was also stubborn and said with a tilted head: "Anyway, we just can't come out, and we must die with the tank if we want to die! This is also an order!"

"You..." Battalion Commander Wu was so angry that he couldn't help, and it seemed that "the man is in the tank is in the tank" was a statement in the tank battalion.

I didn't say anything, and walked up a few steps and climbed onto the tank in a few steps. Then I grabbed a grenade and pretended to pull the string. Before they could see clearly, they threw it into the tank compartment...

"You're crazy!" The chariot shouted, and jumped off the tank in a few seconds and lay on the ground. Several soldiers in the tank crawled out in panic, and even the others beside him looked at me in amazement. But after waiting for a while, the grenade did not explode, so they seemed to understand something. When they looked at the embarrassing looks of the tank soldiers, they couldn't help laughing.

The Type 63 tank was quickly pushed away. Seeing it clumsyly rolling over a few times on the inclined surface, then hitting a rock with a "bang", all the soldiers felt a little distressed, especially those tank soldiers, whose eyes seemed to have cut a piece of meat from them.

But what can I do? Didn’t those Type 59 medium tanks have to give up? People’s lives are almost impossible to save, and sticking to these tools is undoubtedly the stupidest way to do it.

As soon as the tank drove to the high ground, the soldiers prepared under our command. The Type 63 tank crew had a total of four people, and two soldiers were stuffed into the inside, and four or five soldiers were carried outside. In this way, each tank could carry about ten people, and 24 Type 63 tanks carried about 240 people in total. The rest of the ancient brains were stuffed into the two Type 77 amphibious transport vehicles.

Moreover...every infantry carried outside the tank was asked to tie it to the tank with a backpack strap. This made the soldiers under my command a little confused.

"Company Commander!" Yang Songjian tied himself to the tank unwillingly according to the order, and asked hesitantly: "What are we doing? Do we really want to tie him to the tank to fight?"

"Yes! Company Commander!" Yang Songjian spoke, and the soldiers asked one by one: "When we came, didn't we see those comrades who died in the tank? How miserable is that! Why are we still tied up ourselves?"

"If you ask you to tie it, why do you say so much?" I put my face on them and shouted at them: "Did you scare those comrades who died in the tank? I tell you, everyone should tie it as tightly as they are. If there is a problem because they are not tied tightly, don't blame me!"

"Yes!" After hearing what I said, the soldiers stopped saying anything, but I still saw some doubts in their eyes.

Yes! Tie yourself to a tank, and once you are attacked by the enemy... Not to mention anything else, if the rocket is blown up on the tank, even if it is not hit by shrapnel, it will shock them to death. This is obviously a practice that does not conform to the actual situation on the battlefield.

But what the soldiers didn't know was that we were not walking on land this time, and the turbulent waterways... If they fell off the tank, they would have to wait for death.

I didn't explain much to them, and took out a backpack and tied it to myself...

"Company Commander!"

"Company Commander..."

Seeing this, the soldiers were shocked and turned their heads to look at me.

"What are you looking at?" I shouted to the soldiers: "If you want to die, everyone will die together, tie them tightly! Anyone who doesn't tie them tightly is a coward!"

"Yes!" the soldiers responded loudly, and the movements in their hands suddenly became much faster.

The hometown man took a backpack to me, and whispered while tying it: "I know you must be doing something, but after guessing it, I don't know what you are doing? Hello, can you give me some tips?"

"Do you think this is a guessing riddle?" I couldn't help but feel a little amused when I heard this.

"Just just think it's a guessing riddle!" The hometown man replied with a wry smile: "I can't guess that well..."

I said one word in a mysterious way: "Water!"

"Water?" The hometown man looked around blankly, thought for a while, and finally shook his head: "Where is there water here? What does it have to do with water? Why do you remind me the more I am not sure..."

"You should give me less snacks!" I laughed, took out my sniper rifle and did the last check, and said, "You can't be wrong if you are ready for battle!"

The people from my hometown scratched their heads, and helped to press bullets on their rifles, and followed me to lie on the tank.

Time passed by minute by minute. The Vietnamese seemed to want to find out what the purpose of our doing so, so flares were fired in the direction of us one by one. And it seemed that several reconnaissance units were sent to conduct close reconnaissance, because through the gaps between the leaves, I saw several Vietnamese soldiers running around in the jungle under the light of the flares.

To be honest, I had another *** to pull the trigger and shoot them. But I didn't do this in the end because I didn't want to have trouble at this time, and they were not worth it. When the flood came, they would soon be a dead person, so there was no need to waste bullets for them anymore.

The surroundings soon became silent, with only the sound of Vietnamese military launching flares with mortars and the footsteps of Vietnamese scouts. Sometimes a gust of wind blew, and a few Vietnamese conversations could be heard faintly. But after a while, they found nothing, they retreated back to the jungle again.

The awakened bird returned to the nest again, and the cricket made its annoying cry again, and all the world seemed to have returned to its original appearance.

But at this moment, there were a few loud "boom..." sounds, and the entire high ground was like a gust of wind, and the mountains were shaking. The birds were shocked again and flew around, and the leaves also fell down. Then there was a "buzz" sound...

"Water! It's really water..." The hometown people finally understood it at this time and laughed: "I'm really convinced you! How could I think of this trick!"

Before he finished speaking, a huge wave surged over, and in an instant it drowned out the tank position where we were originally located. Then the water level rose at an astonishing speed, and soon it rose to the position where our tank was.

"Go away!" The intercom came from the walkie-talkie, and the tank activated its engine again and slowly drove towards the surging waves. With the sound of water, the Type 63 tanks were like crocodiles and stirred up a splash of water and bloomed into the water. Then, a long line was lined up under the moonlight towards the location of Okagawara.

Accompanied by the warriors, they didn't hold the hope of rushing out of the encirclement. At this moment, they suddenly saw this flood, which not only opened up a way for us, but also drove the Vietnamese army into pieces, and everyone was ecstatic.

Some soldiers even shouted loudly to the jungle where the Vietnamese army was:

"My devils, we're bringing you water! Drink more!"

"You know how powerful our Company Commander Cui is, and you know how powerful our *** is!"

...

Although the Type 63 tank was not fast, the water flowed very fast. Soon the tank team drove into the position of the Ganghe River with a rumbling motor. In fact, no one could recognize that this was the Ganghe River at this time, because the surrounding area was full of water.

"Look! Yue Jian!" A soldier called out at this time, and everyone turned their eyes to the direction he pointed.

It's true that under the moonlight, several Vietnamese soldiers were struggling in the water.

The gunshots quickly rang, and a row of bullets flew towards the Vietnamese troops with a roar, and the water quickly turned red.

I didn't give orders, but in fact I didn't have to hurry to give orders. The soldiers used another method to express their hatred to these Vietnamese troops.

What I couldn't bear to witness the most was a big tree rushing down from the upstream, vaguely holding four or five Vietnamese troops, three of whom were women and were not wearing clothes.

I think they should be the so-called "laundry workers" who do things during the day and sleep with the soldiers at night! It should be said that I still have pity for people with their identities, because I don't think anyone would be willing to do such a thing.

But the soldiers who were almost trapped by the Vietnamese army didn't care about so many. Although they were naked, they kept waving to the soldiers and shouted: "Go and float (help)..." but they still couldn't stop the soldiers from shooting bullets at them!

Looking at the Vietnamese female soldiers who were shot dead, I turned my eyes to Li Shuibo, who was in a tank in front of me. I found that he did not shoot, and his face was less painful as he deserved, and just watched all this coldly under the pale moonlight.

I did not stop the soldiers. The battlefield had its cruel side. When these Vietnamese troops besieged us, they were not playing with us like cats and mice. And I also know that if we lose now, it is very likely that they will live a life worse than death under their hands. Now that they lose, they will have to pay the price for their failure.

As I had imagined, when the reservoir was bombed and flooded everywhere, the Vietnamese army could not stop us from breaking through. If there was really, there would be only those Vietnamese army in the water. But I think they should not be here to stop us, but to practice marksmanship for us.

The tank drove down with the rapids for nearly half an hour before finding a suitable location to land. As soon as they got ashore, the soldiers unbuttoned their backpacks and jumped out of the tank and hugged them tightly. Whether they knew them or didn't know them, some even burst into tears.

I have experienced life and death together, and now I have survived the disaster. Naturally, that kind of feeling is not something that ordinary people can understand.

"Captain Cui!" At this time, a correspondent jumped out of the tank with a walkie-talkie in his arms, then handed the microphone to me and said, "It's Commander Zhang!"

"Well!" I looked at the sky was still dark, and I was wondering why Captain Zhang contacted me at this time.

He took the phone and fed it. The roar of Captain Zhang came from the other end of the phone: "Okay, Cui Wei, you dare to conceal the military information! I just received news from my superiors, two regiments of the Vietnamese army that besieged yours, and they were also the ace troops..."

"Report to Captain Zhang!" I replied relaxedly: "We have already broken through. If it goes well, we will reach the 339 Highland before dawn!"
