Chapter 5 Highland No. 5
The training is going on in full swing.
I tried all my strength and racked my brains to let the soldiers learn how to survive on the battlefield as soon as possible, and cooperated with each other to attack the enemy's positions. Because I knew that there was not much time left. There was only one month left for the battle, and maybe one day we would go to the front line if one order came down.
In addition to building fortifications, organizing defense, and organizing offense, training has also added some subjects that I think are very necessary.
For example, gestures, so-called books are only used to hate them. Gestures don’t seem very important, but when I really need them, I realize why I didn’t learn them at the beginning! And it’s not difficult to do this. All I need seems to be just moving the set of gestures of the cold gun troops over intact and letting the soldiers write them down. In addition, considering that the troops may participate in night battles, I also stipulated some communication methods for night marching, such as punching a punch on the right shoulder to stop moving forward, patting a punch means continuing, and punching two punches means preparing for combat...
There are also observations of mines and traps... Although I have never fought with Vietnamese, I have also watched many Vietnam War movies made by Americans in modern times. There are mines and bamboo stick arrays everywhere, so it is very necessary to carefully observe mines and traps that may be buried on the road.
If you are teaching them to clear mines, it is really unrealistic. Once you don’t have that much time, and more importantly, I don’t know the mine removal skills I learned in advanced school are all for landmines in the 1950s. Nowadays, there are no longer many times when mines are replaced, and there are many things I don’t know.
Then there are disguises, covering each other in a ladder to advance, cooperating with each other during attack, and circumventing. These tactics were used when I was training the 7th Company, so I can now be familiar with them. But what I didn’t expect was that when I trained the 7th Company, they had mastered them completely and could be used in actual combat in just one month. However, the soldiers in front of me had been training for more than half a month, and sometimes they were still in a hurry to reach their ideal state.
This is probably the difference between veterans and new recruits!
For veterans, the battlefield has long tempered them into a whole. Each of them knows that they are just a part of the army. When they move, they are sure that the soldiers around them will cover them. When they are quiet, they believe that the soldiers around them will take advantage of the cover to attack. Although there are also more than 100 people, their attack power is a giant, an invincible giant.
But it is difficult for new recruits who have never fought on the battlefield to achieve such tacit cooperation in a short period of time.
What made me even more angry was that the weapons used by the soldiers were always having problems every now and then. They either had submachine guns stuck, or the rifles could not be fired, and sometimes they could not even explode. At first, I thought it was just weapons from the new recruits, but after asking the people in my hometown, I realized that the weapons in the army were almost the same and the failure rate was very high. That was because most of these weapons were produced during the ten-year period, and the phenomenon of cutting corners was very serious.
So I thought that in the modern movie "The Wreath Under the Mountains" I watched in the modern era, there was a warrior who fired a rocket launcher. He fired two shells, which were stinky bombs, and finally died under the enemy's gun...
"Report to the instructor!" A soldier stood beside me.
"Hmm! What's the matter?" I asked casually without turning my head.
During the period of training the soldiers, I have gradually regained my feeling of being a regiment leader, and the soldiers seem to have admitted that I am their "boss". Because now, no matter what happens, they come to report to me, not to my hometown people, and I have become their real instructor.
"Teacher!" The soldier hesitated for a moment, and finally plucked up the courage and said, "I want to learn how to shoot from you!"
"Um!" I couldn't help but turn my head. When I found out that it was Li Shuibo from the same dormitory, I was even more surprised. He actually took the initiative to talk to me. This is probably my first time in this world!
"Why?" I asked casually: "Aren't the instructor teaching you to shoot? He didn't teach well?"
"No, no! The instructor teaches very well!" Li Shuibo was eloquent and didn't look like a taciturn person at all: "But... you are different from the instructor. He is shooting a target, and you are hitting a person!"
"Um!" Hearing this, I couldn't help but look at him again. This guy is good, and he can actually see the murderous aura from my shooting actions. What he said is indeed good. The shooting skills that kill people on the battlefield are essentially different from the shooting skills that you practice.
"What... makes you want to learn how to shoot a murder!" I turned my head and turned my eyes to the soldiers who were fighting happily again, pretending to be careless and continued to chew the bamboo stems in my mouth.
"It's my family!" After a while, Li Shuibo replied: "The Vietnamese want us to become Vietnamese nationality. We firmly disagree. My parents were beaten to death, and my sister... "
The movements on my lips couldn't help but stop. Li Shuibo said it was simple, but I knew that the process was not simple at all. The reason why he said it was so simple was because he didn't want to think of those past events!
After a long time, Li Shuibo asked coldly: "I want to kill every Vietnamese who appears in my sight! Is this enough?"
"Not enough!" I replied coldly, then pointed to the soldiers who were practicing marksmanship and said, "Look at them, any one of them is more qualified to practice marksmanship than you!"
"Why?" Li Shuibo looked at me in shock, and soon turned into anger. His eyes shot at me like two swords.
"Because you are blindfolded by hatred, you can't see the real enemy!" I turned my head and replied, "If you are a sniper..."
Speaking of this, I couldn't help but hesitate because there was still no real sniper in the Chinese team at this time, but Vietnam has it, Li Shuibo is a Vietnamese overseas Chinese, and he knows what I'm talking about.
So I continued, "For example, if you want to kill every Vietnamese who appears in your sight, including insignificant soldiers and civilians, it means that you will soon expose your target and your killer career will end. It is easy to kill a few soldiers, and you don't need to practice marksmanship at all. Do you understand?"
Li Shuibo looked at me blankly, and after a while, he nodded and said, "I understand!"
I smiled and said, "I'll give you a word. To learn how to kill people, it's not just about using your eyes, your hands, but more importantly..."
I pointed to my head and said, "I want to know how to use my head!"
Li Shuibo thought about it and seemed a little confused, but he still stood up and said, "Yes!"
Looking at Li Shuibo's back, I couldn't help but nodded secretly. In fact, I have been observing him these days. He is the one who has the most diligent shooting skills in the recruit company. Everyone else is resting. He is still practicing shooting postures with a rifle, and sometimes he is tied to the barrel.
His hands are very stable and his psychological quality is also good. No matter how others say or persuade him, he just ignores it coldly. These are the conditions for becoming a sniper. However, as I said just now, if his heart is full of hatred, it is very likely that his judgment will be affected at critical moments!
"Teacher Cui!" While I was thinking about whether to develop Li Shuibo into my assistant, my hometown *** walked to me step by step and said, "My bullets are almost finished. Do you think it's time to go back to the military camp?"
Look, even the instructor is asking me for instructions now. I couldn't help but nodded, and looked at the sky that was about to get dark, and replied: "Go back! Come again tonight..."
"What? Come tonight?" The people in my hometown were stunned.
"Yes!" I replied relaxedly: "It should be raining at night. How could I let go of such a good opportunity easily!"
A trace of helplessness flashed across the faces of the hometown people, and then grabbed the sentry on their necks and blew: "Get together! Go down the mountain and go back to the military camp!"
"Oh!" The soldiers cheered and couldn't wait to organize their equipment and line up to walk down the mountain. Ironically, before coming to Huangzhu Mountain, the military camp was a hell for them, and they tried every means to run outside to take a look. But now, the military camp is a paradise for them!
The four-kilometer road was not long, and the soldiers returned to the barracks as if they were home, and soon they ran to the gate of the barracks.
"Standing at attention! Getting started..." The people from my hometown called out the soldiers who were running happily, and then shouted a sentence that almost made me faint: "The sunset and the red clouds fly, prepare to...sing!"
"The sunset is red and red clouds fly, and the soldiers shoot the target and return the camp, and the camp..." The soldiers walked into the camp with guns on their shoulders, sang military songs while stepping on the right foot. It's not to mention that it was the time when the sunset is setting, and the soldiers returned from training, just in line with the lyrics of this song! And hundreds of soldiers sang this song, which really had an indescribable sense of toughness and heroism. At first, I was still idle about the song too old and too rustic, but when they heard them start singing it, they felt it was good, and they couldn't help but sing it with them.
I was wondering why the people in my hometown suddenly felt nervous and asked the soldiers to sing. When I saw other soldiers in the military camp who looked at us with envious eyes, I quickly understood his intention.
The people from my hometown are demonstrating to other recruits and instructors! The so-called "If you return from the Five Mountains, don't look at the mountains, if you return from the Huangshan Mountain, don't look at the mountains." At that time, the instructors and recruits in the recruits camp were all on our equal status, but now when we come back from training in Huangzhushan, they are all rookies!
This is our confidence and our charity.
"Speak loudly!" As the singing stopped, I yelled at the soldiers, and the singing immediately raised to a new level.
When it's time for us to show off, when it's time for us to be proud, we should show off our pride. Because this is the first reward for their hard training for so many days. This reward is the gaze of other recruits, and the ability to raise their heads high in front of other recruits...
I believe this feeling must be very good for the warriors!
Sure enough, after disbanding, the soldiers returned to the dormitory, but did not look ugly as before, but instead shouted excitedly: "Hey! Have you seen other companies see our eyes? Those eyes are about to fall out!"
"That's not?" Shun Zile put the rifle on the gun stand and shouted sizzlingly: "Why do I feel like I've won a battle, and I'm proud!"
"You don't know!" Al Ziri spread out the quilt on the bed, turned around and said, "Just just now, I had a fellow villager who secretly stuck me beside me, saying that he wanted me to go through the back door to join our company!"
With a coaxing sound, the soldiers all laughed. This was probably the first time they felt the respect of others in the military camp.
"I want me to say it, thanks to the teacher!" Wu Haiguo habitually raised his cup and drank water, saying, "I really didn't see it before. Comrade Cui's military quality is so good! I think everyone should learn from Comrade Cui, work hard to practice the ability to kill enemies, and be ready to shed blood and sacrifice for the motherland..."
When Wu Haiguo sang this high-profile, everyone stopped talking, but just looked at me with a smile. I was helpless. I yelled at them all day for half a month, shot and scolded them. Although they were convinced and obeyed my orders, the distance between them seemed to be widened.
So I wondered why I didn’t feel this way in the Korean battlefield before. After thinking about it, I quickly realized that when the war in North Korea was a relationship established on the battlefield. The soldiers either saved me or I saved you. The relationship was so strong that my brothers could not be ignored. But now, the soldiers around me seemed to be in an embarrassing relationship of not knowing whether they were treating me as their superiors or as comrades.
Thinking of this, I couldn't help but smile and said, "I am Cui Wei when I return to the dormitory. The teacher is sorry for your place. I'm sorry!"
"What are you saying!" Yang Songjian generously held my shoulder and said, "There is no place to offend me? If you want me to say that you have to practice this way, you can fight if you practice on the battlefield. Brother, I support you!"
"So too! I just looked at my fellow villagers and accepted no matter how hard or tired I was!"
"And me!"
...
The soldiers expressed their support for me one after another. I think a considerable reason is that I was the contribution of singing that song just now, so I couldn't help but feel a little grateful to the people in my hometown.
At one o'clock in the evening, I opened my eyes and sat up from the bed, looked at the soldiers who were sleeping well, and felt a little unbearable. Their understanding of me made me feel a little unable to do anything. But I knew that I had to persevere, because I knew very well that the unbearableness of them now would likely cause their casualties on the battlefield, which was tantamount to harming them.
This is like parents spoiling their children. No parent does not love their children, but if they do not make up their minds to educate them, it will often have a very bad impact on their children!
I secretly put on my military uniform and walked out of the dormitory. It was drizzling outside and it was very dark. The people from my hometown were waiting for me in the square, and I walked up to him and saluted respectfully.
You must respect your superiors at all times, not to mention that the person in my hometown is still a respectable superior.
The hometown man replied with a greeting and said, "Huangzhushan is ready! It's time to start!"
"Yeah!" I nodded, turned around and whistled, shouting, "Second Company gather!"
A few minutes later, the soldiers stood in front of me in rows, without complaints, fast speed and full equipment. I nodded with satisfaction and shouted loudly to them: "Bring the dry waves and ammunition, and target the No. 5 Heights of Huangzhushan!"
"Yes!" the soldiers responded, took out bullets in turn and ran out of the barracks in two lines.
Jiefang Shoes stepped on the water on the ground and made an unusual "swish" sound, which added some power to the soldiers, causing the recruits from other barracks to keep shining the flashlights towards us. The soldiers did not pay much attention to it and still took steps forward on their own.
The No. 5 Heights of Huangzhushan are the last highland that has not been passed by the soldiers. I specially kept it to play a role tonight.
The soldiers climbed towards the direction of Height No. 5 as usual on the familiar path. The so-called practice makes perfect, which is much faster than before. Even if the visibility is poor at night, it cannot stop them.
Suddenly a soldier exclaimed: "There are landmines, I'm stepping on the landmines!"
"There is also a bamboo stick array!"
"Teacher, how can there be mines here!"
...
The soldiers quickly became a mess, and some even shouted at me in a crying voice: "Teacher, instructor, are these mines real or fake? Did you set them up? Why don't you tell us in advance?"
"Will the enemy tell you where there is a ray?" I replied loudly.
"Dadada..." At this time, a machine gun sound suddenly came from the No. 5 Highland, and rows of bullets made the yellow bamboos above our heads "crackling" sound.
"It's live ammunition, it's real attack!" I don't know who exclaimed.
Hearing this sound, the soldiers who had been training for so long in the live ammunition would not know that the live ammunition was coming. They were all frightened and screamed. Some even shouted hysterically at me behind me: "Cui Wei, you are too much. What if you hit someone so dark?"
"Instructor, stop the machine gun!"
...
There was even *** yelling: "I am not responsible for this soldier, I want to go home!"
That's right! All of this is indeed arranged by me. The mines are exercise thunders, and the bamboo stick arrays are flat-headed. The machine gun is real, but the machine gunner has already found a place before dark and completed the test firing. The bullets fired at his position are either shot in the soil in front of us, or four or five meters away from our heads. If the soldiers were not scared to climb onto the bamboo, there would be no danger at all.
