Chapter 32 Exercises (continued)
Chapter 32 Exercise (continued)
"Captain!" Hu Biao was tied up by the soldiers of the 7th Company in front of his subordinates. He obviously couldn't get over the face. He gave me the gun with a flashlight tied in his hand, and said in dissatisfaction: "It's really good to tie the flashlight to the barrel. You can free up your hands to concentrate on shooting. I'll accept this method! But..."
"But what?" I asked.
I didn't think of this method of tying a flashlight to the barrel, but in modern times, I saw that there was such a lighting device in front of the guns of special forces, so I thought of tying a flashlight to the barrel.
By the way, there are many benefits to tie a flashlight on the barrel. Doing so will not only allow you to attack the tunnel, but also to concentrate on shooting the gun. When you want to light the light on the battlefield, you don’t need to leave the gun and just reach out and press the switch. And you won’t lose the flashlight when the battle is tense. In addition, our army has always been good at night battles, so this method I thought of was to facilitate the attack on the tunnel, but I didn’t expect it to be very practical on the battlefield. In an instant, all the soldiers tied flashlights to their barrels without exception.
Of course, except for carbines equipped with night vision devices. One is that after having a night vision device, there is no need for lighting equipment like flashlights. The other is that the night vision device is too heavy. If it is equipped with its carbine and then hang it with a flashlight, it will be inconvenient to move.
"It's just..." Hu Biao replied: "This battle will really start..."
"It won't be like this, right!" Li Pinghe, who had been standing in Hu Biao's camp, held a telescope to watch the game, walked up to answer.
"Political Commissar!" Hu Biao saw Li Pinghe as if he had seen a savior, and took a few steps forward and asked anxiously: "You have been seeing it clearly on the position. Tell me fairness, this battle..."
"Comrade Hu Biao!" Li Pinghe interrupted Hu Biao with a smile: "Captain Cui is already showing mercy. If you really want to fight, I'm afraid you will lose even worse!"
"What?" Hu Biao was stunned when he heard this.
"Political Commissar!" A company commander under Hu Biao was dissatisfied and responded from the side: "Even if we can't fight on the position, then we hide in the tunnel. Can Commander Cui and others still get into the tunnel and fight with us?"
Li Ping looked at me and said to Hu Biao and others: "If you don't believe me, go to the training ground of the 7th Company with me and Captain Cui? It's easy to learn combat experience!"
"Go and go, who is afraid of who?" Hu Biao responded. He had fought for so many years and had not failed to lose, but today's battle still made him most angry, so he just refused to admit it.
I have no objection to this. Anyway, those training methods are not treasures, and the soldiers of the 538th Regiment are not outsiders, so I took the 7th Company, Hu Biao and others to the training ground.
The training ground is located on the back slope near the foot of the mountain at the 649.8 high ground. This is the place where enemy artillery fire and firing angles are least likely to be affected. It is a thousand meters long and wide, and it is just a few barbed wire mesh to simply draw a boundary. It is not a secret place. However, we usually train at night, and Hu Biao and others must garrison the positions on the top of the mountain formation, so it is rare to see them.
More than ten minutes later, the group followed the neat steps of the 7th Company and entered the training ground. This place is actually a slope, mainly used to simulate mountain warfare. At first glance, it is no different from other positions, but there are a few tunnels in the training ground.
I thought Hu Biao would shout a few more times: "Tsk! This is the training ground? What's so awesome?"
What surprised me was that Hu Biao said nothing, but just focused on observing with his big eyes.
I couldn't help but say in my heart that this guy is still a smart person. I know that the more ordinary it looks, the more unusual it is! Otherwise, he would be blushing again.
But Hu Biao was smart, but the company commanders under him were not so smart. After a while of silence, someone still spoke: "Political Commissar, Commander! Is this the training ground?"
"How is it? Captain Cui!" Li Pinghe did not answer his words, and turned to me directly and said, "Let the soldiers perform and learn for the comrades!"
"Zhang Xiong!" I shouted directly behind me.
"Come!" With a strong and powerful answer, a warrior with a big and thick martial arts stood in front of me.
Zhang Xiong is a platoon leader in the 7th Company. As his name suggests, he is as big as a bear, but his head is not as stupid as a bear. However, although the real bear is big, it is not stupid at all. If he really wants to rehabilitate the bear, it will be another long discussion, so let's stop here for the time being.
Those who have been on the battlefield know that Wu Da Sanmao is generally not easy to mix on the battlefield. Large size means that the exposed area is also large, and the chance of being hit by stray bullets and shrapnel is also high. In addition, most of the volunteer soldiers are thin and small due to malnutrition, so it will be very strange if someone is tall and strong in the team. The enemy's snipers, or even ordinary enemies, will naturally target such people.
But the more you can survive, the larger the warriors will generally have unique skills. Zhang Xiong's unique skills are fast, and his feet are fast and his hands are fast.
If you have a fast foot, you can run fast. If the enemy's grenade is thrown in front of you, he will have a way to run out of the explosion range in an instant.
Fast hands means killing the enemy. It is said that once when he took a few soldiers to grab his tongue, he suddenly broke into the enemy's bunker with a sound like a chicken twisting. He broke the necks of three enemies with just a few clicks. The enemy didn't even have time to scream. After that, he dragged a scared prisoner out...
It is precisely such a person who can join the 7th Company and become a platoon leader!
I took out my pocket watch and waved at him, saying, "The second row is ready for action, fifteen minutes!"
"Yes!" Zhang Xiong responded, and without saying a word, he pulled his troops out and lined up in several teams on the training ground! The cold gun troops of Yang Zhenshan's squad immediately found a favorable position behind them to lurk.
Just as Hu Biao and others were puzzled, I shouted to the pocket watch: "Start!"
With a shout, it was like a gust of wind. The troops led by Zhang Xiong were divided into three parts in squads. They all raised their rifles and submachine guns in their hands, and protected each other and moved forward alternately under the cover of Yang Zhenshan and other sharpshooters. Yang Zhenshan and Zhang Xiong also exchanged all the information and suspicious places on the battlefield through walkie-talkies.
Sometimes it was Yang Zhenshan who told the soldiers of the Cold Gun Army where there might be enemies lurking, and sometimes it was Zhang Xiong or several of his squad leaders who told the soldiers of the Cold Gun Army about the locations where the enemy might be hidden, so that the soldiers could pass the night vision device to verify.
Hu Biao and others felt a little confused when they saw it. At least their 538th Regiment troops were coming to "confront" in the drill just now. At this moment, there seemed to be no one on the training ground, so they didn't understand Zhang Xiong and others' attitude as if they were facing a great enemy and acting.
But they soon knew that this wasn't acting anymore!
Because at this time, several heads wearing steel helmets suddenly appeared on the position...
"Bang bang..." A few sounds, the guns in the soldiers' hands rang, and several helmets made a crisp "clang clang" sound and were beaten far away.
These sudden gunfire scared Hu Biao and others, and someone shouted out on the spot: "Isn't this an exercise? Why did you come seriously? You're also hitting someone to death..."
Then Ding Qing looked at the real people in her heads, but just a few wooden bumps wearing steel helmets, and then she breathed a sigh of relief.
"At seven o'clock, three hundred meters, two sharpshooters! At four o'clock, two hundred meters, two machine gunners!" Zhang Xiong promptly reported the situation on the front line to the cold gun troops in the rear.
Yang Zhenshan immediately ordered: "Group one, four, sharpshooters at seven o'clock. Third, machine gunners at four o'clock!"
"Bang bang, bang..." The gunshots quickly rang out. In the darkness, when we could hardly see anything, there were a few more sounds of the helmet falling, and it was obvious that the soldiers all hit.
Then, in every corner of the training ground, many such dummies wearing steel helmets suddenly appeared, some ran past quickly, some emerged from prominent positions, and even many with guns... It was like an ambush here blocking the offensive of the soldiers.
The soldiers were also meticulous and made correct assessments of targets that could be hit and targets that might cause danger to themselves. Sometimes they hid and jumped up. Sometimes the combat troops attacked and sometimes the cold gun troops took action. A wonderful battle began vigorously in front of us, which made Hu Biao and others overwhelmed and stunned.
Just like in the movies now, when the special police are training to rescue hostages, a dummy suddenly appears in the corner or behind the room. This kind of training is what I think of. The difference is that the wooden lump wearing a steel helmet is smaller and harder to hit.
Of course, I also know that the best training is to fight on the real battlefield. But there will inevitably be casualties on the real battlefield, and the Korean battlefield is extremely cruel. Although going to the real battlefield can make the soldiers train, it is possible that more than half of the soldiers will suffer casualties in a battle. This result is obviously not what I want, nor is it the purpose of my formation of this army.
This simulation training can solve such a problem. It can create a battlefield atmosphere for the soldiers and collaborate with each other as much as possible. In addition, they were originally veterans and had been on real battlefields many times before, so they became more realistic and similar when simulated.
I believe that after they practice in this way on the training ground, one day when they really go to the battlefield, casualties will definitely drop.
"What are you talking about?" I saw several company commanders under Hu Biao whispering, so I asked.
"Report to the regiment commander!" A company commander stepped forward and saluted: "Company Commander Zhao said... He said that the comrades in the Seventh Company had already known clearly, so it was so easy to fight!"
"You are wrong. They didn't know the location of the dummy in advance!" Li Pinghe replied on his own, "Captain Cui trained the three platoons of the seventh company in a competitive manner! When the first platoon attacks, the dummy is discharged in the second platoon, and so on! After the fight, the platoons have the best results and tasks will be arranged first! For this, these platoons racked their brains to set each other down, for fear that other platoons will surpass themselves!"
After Li Pinghe explained this, Hu Biao and others said nothing more.
But the good show didn't end like that. After almost cleaning up the enemies on the training ground, Zhang Xiong and others quickly turned their target to the potentially hiding the enemy tunnel.
Several soldiers were seen close to the tunnel wall and approaching the tunnel entrance, and then suddenly threw two grenades into the tunnel.
That's right, it's a grenade, an oval grenade used by the US military.
Although the volunteer army is accustomed to using grenades, it is undeniable that oval grenades have many advantages in some special fortifications and terrain, such as in tunnels or on steeper slopes.
In the tunnel, if a grenade is used, the short and narrow space will undoubtedly greatly affect the throwing distance of the grenade. First of all, the low top of the tunnel will prevent the grenade from performing high-area parabolic movements. A little higher will be blocked or even rebounded back to hurt itself. Secondly, the weight and shape of the grenade are destined to be unable to throw far in the tunnel, which will not achieve the purpose of attacking the enemy, and may even accidentally hurt itself.
But the grenade does not have the above disadvantages, because it is light and spherical. It can roll far into the tunnel with a light shot. Sometimes, if it is well shot, it can even use the rebound force of the impact of the tunnel wall to throw the grenade to the corner. Therefore, using grenades in the tunnel is undoubtedly the best choice.
It is not difficult to find the US military's grenades, just like I am always short of bullets from the m1 rifle. With the support of Commander Pang, the bullets and grenades seized by the 180th Division from the US military were soon concentrated in the warehouse of the 538th Regiment. For a division, these things may not be too much, but for our company... I think it is almost impossible to use until the end of the Korean War.
With two "boom..." sounds, the grenade exploded deep in the tunnel. As soon as the explosion sounded, the soldier who had been waiting at the entrance of the tunnel immediately lit up the flashlight on the barrel, raised the special rifle, and rushed into the tunnel.
Then there was another dull gunfire, and occasionally there were one or two explosions...
Of course, we have no way to see this battle in the tunnel, we can only wait outside for time to leave minute by minute.
Finally, when the pointer on my pocket watch reached the 14th minute, the soldiers came out of the tunnel, then used the flashlight on the rifle to draw two circles towards us, and the drill ended successfully!
Hu Biao didn't say anything, raised his legs and walked forward along Zhang Xiong's attack route. Several company commanders of the first battalion also hurriedly followed closely.
I know what Hu Biao wants to see. He wants to see the bullet holes on the heads of those "enemy" who were killed, want to see the hidden positions of the "enemy", and want to see the angle of attack of the soldiers... Hu Biao is also a veteran on the battlefield, so of course he will know the truth.
So when he walked down again, he sighed in front of me and said, "Captain, I'm convinced!"
To be honest, I am very happy to hear this sentence, because I know that it is also not easy to get Hu Biao's recognition, and it also proves on the other hand that my training is effective.
Of course, whether it will be effective in the end must be tested by the real battlefield!
"Captain Cui!" On this day, when I was discussing the progress of the front tunnel of the enemy position in the 649.8 Highlands with Liu Shunyi in the regiment headquarters, a correspondent shouted a report and stood in front of me: "Captain Cui! Commander Pang asked you to go there immediately, saying that there was something urgent!"
"Um!" I couldn't help but look at Liu Shunyi, wondering if there was any urgent matter when the frontier position was relatively stable. And from the tone of the correspondent, it seemed that this matter was not small...
After thinking about it, I didn't dare to be slow in my hands. After taking off the belt buckle, I told Liu Shunyi that he took the guard and got out of the tunnel with a sound.
When I walked out of the tunnel, I found that it was not dark yet, and my heart couldn't help but skip a beat again.
By the way, although there is no war in frontier positions now, the cold guns and cold cannons have never stopped. The enemy is like this, and we are like this. So it is obvious that during the day, I called me, the regiment commander, to run to the division headquarters. Although I don’t mind, there are still certain risks.
What exactly made Commander Pang take such a risk to get me to the division headquarters? I wasn’t even worried about making phone calls or sending telegrams?
I don't know, and I also want to know, and this curiosity prompted me to speed up.
As soon as I walked into the tunnel where Commander Pang was, I felt a strange tension. I was asked several times along the way, and there were secret whistles hidden in the grass to ask questions. I remember a few days ago, I came to the division headquarters because I had to discuss with Commander Pang in detail about the plan to attack the 902.8 Highlands. At that time, there was no such strict investigation! What happened today?
After finally coming to the division headquarters, I lifted the black cloth and hurried in, what surprised me was that Commander Pang still looked very leisurely and was not as nervous as I thought!
"Come on... sit down!" When Commander Pang saw that it was me, he greeted me without hesitation and signaled me to sit opposite me.
"Teacher Pang..." After sitting down for a while, seeing that Commander Pang was just looking at the map, I couldn't help but ask: "What happened today...? Let me come to the division headquarters to have any instructions."
"It's no big deal!" Commander Pang smiled and said, "It seemed like a few people were going to touch the division headquarters last night, so they nervous the comrades in the guard company like this!"
