Chapter 9 From the past to the present

The third floor courtyard is 110 meters long from east to west and 95 meters wide from north to south. It is built of iron alum. There are two Qubro at both ends of the east and west axis. Both Qubro's gable walls are both the third floor of the West Qubro's gable walls no longer in their original position.

Siqubro's gable wall is now collected by the Ji American Museum of Asian Art in Paris, depicting the story of the two brothers Asunda and Upasunda in the Indian epic Mahabharata fighting for the tilottama.

Dongquburo's peach walls are scattered on the ground, depicting the story of the devil plundering Rama's wife Siddha in the Indian epic "Ramayana". The trench in the courtyard is cut into two halves along the east and west axis, surrounding the second floor of the courtyard.

The outer periphery of the second floor courtyard is an iron alumina wall that is 42 meters long from east to west and 38 meters wide from north to south. The inner periphery is a square brick wall with a side length of 24 meters. There are two quboros on the east and west axis of the outer periphery. The mountain wall of the outer wall is carved with the story of Rama helping the Monkey King Sugalipo kill his brother Polin.

The inner wall has collapsed, leaving only Qubro to the east and a brick temple to the west; Shiva carved dance on the outer side of the Qubro mountain-shaped wall to the east, and Durga on the inside. There is another corridor of iron alumina in the courtyard, which has now collapsed intermittently.

Benmealea is a small Angkor Wat-style temple, whose name means "lotus pond".

This temple is 40 kilometers east of the Angkor Monument Group. Benmilai is a Hindu temple, but some of its sculptures reflect the theme of Buddhism. The original material used to build this temple was sandstone, so many buildings have been damaged and it is difficult to restore.

The Benmilei is not within the regular Angkor scenic area, so this attraction is rarely included in ordinary tour groups, because it is indeed a bit too remote.

Benmi is located between an abandoned courtyard and a tower. The trees and grass grow in densely. It has been a difficult place to reach for many years, but the recently paved roads have attracted many tourists.

Edit this section of the scenic spot features. It takes a lot of time to take a car to come from the main scenic spot of Angkor Monument. The car can be faster, while the "tutu" will be very slow.

When the clouds fell to the Benmiles, it was discovered that the Benmiles today looked very similar to what foreign explorers had when Angkor was discovered: the temple collapsed severely. It was hidden by trees and had no way to go.

Without a tour guide, Yunluo had no idea how to pass through this huge ruin. Friends who have watched the movie "Tomb Raider" must have an impression of Tabulong Temple. It gives people a strange feeling, while Bengmile brings you mostly shock.

As you go deeper into the scenic spot where Benmilie is located, you will also find a plank road. This plank road is also related to a movie. It was built when shooting the movie "Tiger Brothers". It can be seen that many attractions in the Angkor monument are deeply loved by film directors, because the mystery revealed here is definitely rare in the world.

When you follow the local tour guide to climb the window, walk the ridge, and walk through the house, you will find that there will always be surprises in front, and you will never know what the surprising scenery is waiting for. If you love adventure, then Bengmi Le would be better off missing it.

This Indian temple built in the jayavarman 5th period was used to worship Lord Shiva. It was the first temple built entirely with sand and stone in the Angkor complex. It was a dilapidated, secret, unrenovated temple, and the temple was never completed. The temple walls that should have reliefs were empty.

Because of its original appearance, some people say that this is the most worthwhile and hardest ruins among the Angkor ruins group. The moat of Benmilai is 1.2 kilometers long and 0.9 kilometers wide. It is almost as large as Angkor Temple, but it is still tightly wrapped in the jungle.

Because it is relatively remote, many reliefs and statues have been plundered, but the mysterious atmosphere of the temple is still spread deep in the forest.

When I first arrived in Siem Reap, my first feeling was the poverty here. As soon as I got off the car, I saw the dark big-headed dolls begging barefoot. The people with big eyes felt so heartbroken. At first, I gave me some small money, but later Yunluo found that there were too many children like this here, and it was not suitable to give them to anyone.

Phnom Penh is a suitable city for living. You can feel its taste after staying for a while. Although I just looked at Phnom Penh on the bus, the scale and style of the temple here are bright. When I arrived in Siem Reap, it was already dark, and the bus company had already agreed with the towing truck drivers that the towing truck will take the note with your name and send you to the city center for free.

The driver was very enthusiastic and took Yunluo to a hotel called iwinhostel. Three people have a room of 12 US dollars. The fan is hot water wifi. The female boss is beautiful and capable. The male waiters all looked very honest. The hall can surf the Internet, drink, eat, and watch Cambodian cartoons.

Other recommendations: Tasom's double room, $8 a night, the house looks very good and cleansed every day, and it also comes with wifi, hot water, small refrigerator, TV, fan and a hearty breakfast. Yunluo lives in a place not far from the night market. After washing, Yunluo formed a group of six people to go to the night market for dinner.

Yunluo went to withdraw some money first. Most of the ATMs here do not support UnionPay. Only at the end of the night market can there be a Kawa Bank. The population complexity here is much greater than that of any city in Vietnam. Yunluo had dinner with Australian, British, Japanese, Chinese, Moroccan, and there were geckos on the table.

When Yunluo was taking a walk in the evening, Yunluo discovered how much Yunluo loved the night market here. The chaotic elements you can think of are all kinds of, including robbers, thieves, drunks, street ladies, foreign ruffians, drug dealers, gaybars, ladyboys restaurants, all kinds of restless stimulation and endless noise from tourists, forming the beautiful night view here.

Many people say that it is very messy here. It is true that there are all kinds of birds in the forest. Although Yunluo strolls until after twelve o'clock every night, safety is the first priority. Everyone still calls a few more people before going out.

The next day, I rented a bicycle worth one dollar at the door and started a three-day tour of Angkor. Angkor Wat is about 5 kilometers away from Yunluo's place. It is divided into 1-day tour, 3-day tour (recommended) and 7-day tours. The prices are: US$20. US$40 and US$60. The price of renting a tow trailer is about 40-50 dollars a day.

Yunluo followed the most classic route, first small circle and then large circle for three days. The specific route is: Day 1: Small circle: Angkor Temple - Tongwang City (Barong Temple, Bafang Temple, Sky Palace, Battle Elephant Steps, Laiwang Steps) - Zhousa Temple - Chajiao Temple - Tabulong Temple - Bandekatti - Baken Mountain.

Day 2: Big Circle: Holy Sword Temple - Longpan Pool - Tason - East Mei Ben - Bili Temple - Royal Bath Pool - Cardamom Temple. Day 3: Angkor Temple - Queen's Palace - Bengmilie (due to the distance and price issues, the two places behind the clouds are not considered as).

If you want to rent a tubtub car, in addition to joining them, you must plan your itinerary before going there. Generally, you need to circle in a small circle first, then in a large circle, when to see the sunrise and when to see the sunset, and make arrangements in advance. Generally, you can see the sunrise in the west of Angkor Wat, enter the west gate, and find a place to sit down. You can see the specific location with the flow of people.

There are three places to see the sunset. You can change the place every day and shoot another one. If you make a tubtub car, the driver will tell you that they are very good in English and are very familiar with the route. But you must know that things like sunrise and sunset are like love, and they depend on fate. Don't force it.

ps: According to Yunluo’s three-day observation, the traffic in the afternoon will generally be particularly large. The uncles and aunts who are all in the group are super noisy. For those who pursue feelings, they must avoid the period from 4:00 to 5:00. It is really terrifying.

On the third day, you can actually go to the Queen's Palace and the Bengmilie. You must use a tubtub bike to go to these two places. You can basically not get there by riding a bike.

Below is the three-day itinerary of the online hiker tuktuk car. You can learn from it: Day 1: Sunset on Bakken Mountain 4 US dollars. Day 2: Small circle 10 US dollars. Day 3: Little Angkor Sunrise on the Big Circle Queen's Palace 16 US dollars. Day 4: Outer circle + Cangmi Route 30 US dollars.

The three-day itinerary is intensive to visit various temples. I won’t say that I feel Yunluo. Everyone has an Angkor in their hearts. They ride a bicycle for three days, 30 kilometers a day. They don’t have time to do their homework. The best way to visit Angkor is to do their homework in advance, and then use the materials to review them while looking at each temple. There are different stories behind each temple.

If you are lucky, you can meet a local tour guide to introduce you to several temples for free. There are many foreign tourists here, and you will basically take a few introductions during the day. In addition to these ancient temples, there are also sunrises and sunsets here, and the dusk and dawn that carries ancient culture, making people quiet unknowingly.

In addition to the temple itself, the children in the temple are also impressive. They usually sell things at the age when they should go to school. They are from 5 to 6 years old, and they are only 15 to 16 years old when they are old. Poverty has forced them to take on the burden of their families. Yunluo met a little girl on the road, who was only 8 years old. Due to years of malnutrition, her small body looks only about 5 years old.

His mother has lost the ability to move and his father has long passed away. You should know that in Cambodia, the national disease infection rate has reached an astonishing 2.7%, and countless children have been born. Years of poverty have made these families even eating a problem. Treating diseases is a fantasy.

If you go to the temple, tourists will find that many children go to school, learn English and Japanese here. These are orphans. Most of their parents die of illness. Some of these innocent children have diseases that they don’t know when they are born. Their hearts are filled with fear, but they don’t know what these fears mean.

Yunluo met a "teacher" on the road who volunteered to teach these children. Yunluo asked: What is your usual job? He said, "It's just to teach these children Japanese", "What about your income?" "No income, the temple will provide vegetarian food for you", "Why do you have to do these?" "Because the Buddha asked to do good deeds, because he was once a part of them, and he was also an orphan."

These children in Angkor Wat usually sell some postcards and ethnic costumes, but the prices are not very expensive. Postcards are three or two dollars, and each book is ten. In addition to walking, you can also take helium balloons to visit, but only overlooking Angkor, the balloons will not float, each time 15 dollars.

There are many monkeys in the bamboo forest next to Angkor Wat. Don’t bother them, otherwise the consequences will be the same as Yunluo.

The green space in Angkor Thom cannot be squeezed up to Bakken Mountain (only 300 tourists are allowed to go up the mountain every day at sunset), Yunluo rests here every afternoon for sunset. Although there is no sunset here, the color rendered by the afterglow is no worse than the landscape you see in Bakken Mountain.

It has to be said that even if many countries in Angkor Wat are responsible for repairs, due to weathering problems, more and more buildings will collapse in a few decades, and history will leave Yunluo with less and less heritage. Like the Maldives, one day, this place will disappear. Perhaps in ten years, some temples here will become "history".

If you have the chance, you must come here to see it, just like you must go to Nauru, to Kilimanjaro, to the Maldives.

On the afternoon of the third day in Siem Reap, Yunluo took a break in Siem Reap, but did not go to the Queen's Palace or the Bengmire. He bought a ticket to Bangkok. There were many travel agencies on the street of the night market. Yunluo picked the cheapest night bus (private bus), and then waited for a long time and chatted with the nonsense.

The Australian young man who lives with Yunluo is going to be a monk. He has been scouting for two months. This time, the temple where he wants to become a monk when he returns to Siem Reap is opposite Yunluo GH. It is very easy to become a monk here. As long as the temple is willing to ask for you, it is a month or two, and it is said that it can be done for a week.

The Khmers believe in Hinayana Buddhism, and the center is to save themselves and not sentient beings. Regardless of size, it is certain that locals believe in Buddhism. Monks are quite common in Cambodia. Foreigners are no exception.

At 2:30 am on the fourth day, the travel agency sent a car to pick Yunluo up to the bus station and went to Bangkok. The next morning, when he arrived at the border, Cambodia was playing the national anthem when he was transiting, and everyone was freeze. Everyone stood still, which really scared Yunluo.
