Chapter 907 Trap

The 1st Infantry sneaked to the position of the 823rd Infantry Regiment.

The 823rd Infantry Regiment has two battalions stationed here. They used trenches, barbed wire and landmines to repel the attacks of the opposite Japanese troops... As mentioned before, the most troublesome thing to deal with Japanese troops is not the tanks, but the infantry.

In fact, those who drove tanks were real American soldiers... Japanese soldiers only conducted three months of training before going to the battlefield, and were not yet able to drive tanks. They were more in cooperation with the US tank battle.

But it's really hard to say who cooperates.

For example, now, tanks are more likely to cooperate with infantry attacks in the rear or provide fire cover rather than main attacks.

This is also the reason why you can see the bodies of Japanese soldiers in US uniforms and German soldiers injured by bayonets everywhere in the German trenches. Several wounded soldiers who were not able to transport them were still covering their wounds with horror, looking at Qin Chuan and his group with help.

When Qin Chuan and others couldn't help with anything, because they were not here to rescue the wounded but to participate in the battle.

The German army can still stick here in such a battle, which is enough to prove that they are a well-trained unit.

But even so, the Germans were still frightened.

This can be seen from the shock on their faces and the surprise when they saw Qin Chuan and others entering the trenches.

The battalion commander was a captain named Leohard. When he saw Qin Chuan and others, he said with gratitude: "It's great that you can come. We can't hold on anymore. They (referring to the Japanese-American army) are like crazy!"

"Tell me!" said Colonel Slain, "I want to know more!"

"I don't know what to say!" Captain Reohard replied: "There doesn't seem strange on the battlefield, bayonets, grenades, explosive packs... but they will rush into our trenches with explosive packs. The thorn-fighting technique is surprisingly good. Major Affleck died under their bayonets!"

Major Affleck was the battalion commander of the first battalion. After his sacrifice, Reohard replaced the battalion commander.

Colonel Slain glanced at Qin Chuan and said, "It's a difficult opponent!"

"Of course!" Qin Chuan replied.

"Then is the defense line of the Second Battalion!" Reohard raised his head east.

Qin Chuan poked his head a little and looked at it, and saw a downward slope at the end of the trench... The slope was obviously the dividing line between the defense line of the First Battalion and the Second Battalion, which also gave the First Battalion a little geographical advantage.

As he was talking, a few shells hit the opposite side with a whistling sound.

"They are here!" said Captain Reohard. "This is their fifth attack!"

"Don't worry, Captain!" said Colonel Slain, "This will be their last attack!"

"When will you come up?" Captain Reohard asked nervously.

"We're behind you!" Colonel Slain said: "When the time is right, we will launch a counterattack, and you just need to stay in the same place to defend, do you understand?"

"I understand, Colonel!"

"And!" said Colonel Slain, "Say to your subordinates, don't point the gun at us!"

"Yes, sir!"

After saying that, Colonel Slein and Qin Chuan returned to the second line of defense along the traffic trench, and then said to the soldiers lurking in the trench: "Look at your enemies, they will soon be our opponents!"

Qin Chuan poked his head out of the trenches and observed the Japanese soldiers charging at the opposite side from the sniper lens.

As they said, this Japanese soldier rushed to charge against the enemy in front of the tank instead of just hiding behind the tank like other US troops.

Especially these Japanese soldiers like to decorate their helmets with branches, weeds, etc., which can also be said to be a disguise.

Perhaps trained by American instructors, they would not rush towards the enemy with bayonets like the Japanese army. They were a group of several people and used firepower to push forward, and then used tracer bullets to indicate the target for the tanks in the rear. Whenever they had the chance, they would jump up from the hiding place and kill into the enemy's trenches to fight against their opponents.

With explosions, mixed with dense gunshots like beans, and various shouts of killing and screams, a cruel battlefield was revealed to everyone.

If it weren't for the fact that a considerable number of German troops had been equipped with STG44 at this time, the German defense line would have been broken by this Japanese army long ago. (Note: At this time, the production of STG44 cannot be equipped with the entire army, so many troops are still mixed with K98K and STG44)

Qin Chuan and others did not move, and everyone lay down in the trenches or lurked in the grass behind. Even if a few shells occasionally hit nearby, it was no exception.

They were waiting for the order, waiting for the moment when they could attack.

Not long after, the situation on the battlefield changed... As planned, the Second Battalion pretended to be unable to resist this kind of attack and began to fight and retreat.

Although the Japanese and American troops fought bravely, they had insufficient experience on the battlefield and did not find that this was a trap... so they plunged into the gap without hesitation.

In fact, what Qin Chuan didn't know was that there was another reason why the Japanese and American soldiers were so prone to getting into traps: they were eager to save people.

This is not only unexpected by Qin Chuan, but also by the US military.

Because this Japanese army is usually discriminated against in the US military and is guarded against... Because Japanese soldiers are generally short, the US military calls them "the turtle plucking troops". The US military also installed US officers in this Japanese army to prevent this army from doing small actions that are unfavorable to the United States.

Even sending this force to France for combat has a different meaning, because in this way, this Japanese unit cannot contact the Japanese army and is even more unlikely to surrender to the Japanese army.

Therefore, the US military naturally thought that these "local rats" were just like launching a symbolic attack, and then returned to the army to report that the mission failed, so few people had great hope for it.

But the Japanese troops did not think so... They believed that this was an opportunity to show loyalty to their superiors, commanders, and even the whole United States, so they had to save the people.

This is true. In history, they successfully rescued the besieged US troops in this battle.

To put it in the words of Colonel Takada, the Japanese-American commander, they almost rescued an American with three lives.

Because most of the besieged American troops were Texans, the 442nd Japanese Regiment was called the "Savior of Texas."

After the war, Texas also announced that every Japanese soldier of the 442nd Regiment was an honorary citizen of Texas.

Of course, their relatives in the concentration camp were also released one after another.
