Chapter 601 Interspersed

It is easier to defeat, but it is much more difficult to annihilate, because it will prevent the Soviet army from escaping.

But this was not a big problem for the Germans, because they had 500 amphibious landing ships in their hands...

The Soviets should have learned lessons from the time the German army landed on the Kerch Strait. They knew that the sea water could not stop the German army, but they just took it for granted that this amphibious landing ship was used by the German army to cross the Kerch Strait and would have no human function on other battlefields.

So, when the First Infantry Regiment was two kilometers away from the Soviet defense line, it drove an amphibious landing ship back to the sea again, with ammunition on the ship.

Twenty "Four" tanks were launched with the fleet, but these tanks were left far behind by the fleet in a short while... The underwater speed of the amphibious tank is much different from that of the amphibious landing ship, and it can only serve as the second echelon.

Then, in order not to let the Soviet army discover the sound of amphibious boarding motors in the sea, the German army on the front launched an attack.

First, several flares rose into the sky to illuminate the panicked face of the Soviet army on the defense line, and then pieces of artillery shells smashed towards the Soviet position with the whistling sound.

Ironically, most of these shells were seized by the Germans in Soliot.

For these shells, Manstein's order was: "Don't worry about not enough of them, because there will be more in front!"

Manstein was right. The Caucasus region, especially the Transcaucasus region, not only had a very important strategic position, but was once considered the safest place in the Soviet Union.

It is not unreasonable to say that it is "safetest", because there are only two roads to the Caucasus:

One is to go from the sea, that is, enter the Aegean Sea through the Mediterranean Sea and cross the Black Sea Strait to reach the Black Sea.

But this road is obviously not accessible, because there are British and American powerful navys in the Mediterranean, and there is a solid wall, not to mention that the Soviet Union had a fleet in the Black Sea.

The other is by land, from the Don River through the North Caucasus, crossing the Caucasus Mountains to the Transcaucasus.

Historically, the German army took this path to attack the Caucasus. For this reason, Hitler also specially trained several mountain divisions to capture the Caucasus mountains.

The problem is that the Soviet army also trained mountain divisions, and most of these mountain divisions were Caucasians who grew up on this land.

The right time, place, people and the advantages of Shanghai Ou low-speed fighter jets in the Caucasus region made it difficult for the German army, who were good at blitzkrieg, and finally failed.

Taking these factors into account, the Soviet army moved part of the industry to the Transcaucasus.

This approach should be said to be correct, because once the German army attacks the Caucasus region, it will be difficult for the Caucasus front to obtain supplies from the north. The shells, bullets and equipment from Britain and the United States are different from the Soviet army, so although they can get supplies from Britain and the United States, it is likely that there will be difficulties in supply.

Therefore, the Transcaucasus must be able to produce shells, bullets, firearms, artillery, and even tanks to achieve self-sufficiency.

With a natural barrier, self-sufficiency industry, coupled with a warm climate, abundant resources, and almost endless oil, the Transcaucasus will not have any problems even if it is blocked for several years. Instead, it will become stronger and stronger. The industry here has even become an important supply base for the Soviet army during the counterattack... This is also one of the reasons why the German army failed in the Caucasus in history.

(Note: The Caucasus Mountains blocked the cold current from Siberia to the north and gathered the warm sea breeze blowing from the Black Sea to the south, so the climate is very warm, with the lowest temperature not less than 5 degrees)

But no one expected that Qin Chuan thought of another road: cross the flank of the Caucasus Mountains of the Kerch Strait.

So, what was placed in front of the German army was one supply warehouse after another or even an arsenal, and of course there was no need to save money on things like shells.

The explosion of shells immediately alarmed the army command stationed in Novorossiysk.

Major General Sergatskov, commander of the 43rd Sudi Army, got up from the bed as soon as he cursed, and hurriedly put on his military uniform that had just been taken off. While holding the buttons, he opened the door and walked into the command center of the hall, and asked the staff officer who was busy calling: "What's going on?"

"Comrade Sergatskov!" The staff officer reported to the major general in a panic expression: "We are attacked by the Germans!"

"How many of them are there?" asked Major General Sergatskov.

"I don't know yet!" the consultant replied: "But we saw a lot of tanks and the artillery fire was also very fierce!"

Major General Sergatskov looked at the map and ordered: "Order the artillery to fight back and suppress their artillery fire!"

"Yes!" The staff officer responded and conveyed the order.

"Comrade Sergatskov!" At this time, the political commissar Tygatskov also walked into the command center: "Is it a German?"

"Yes!" Major General Sergatskov pointed to the map and replied: "I think the Germans were worried that they would be surrounded by us in Solione. In order to gain more combat space, they would take the lead in launching an attack on us!"

Zigasev nodded in agreement, because Novorossiysk is a mountain pass, although it is a strong defense area, but it is also a good place for the Germans to intercept... The front is only a few kilometers wide, and the forces of several Soviet divisions cannot be fully deployed here.

"So!" said Zigaschev. "The Germans may just be bluffing, and they won't have too many troops to put in our direction?"

"Yes!" Sergatskov replied: "Because in addition to intercepting us, they also have to station Solione, and at least one unit to fight against the two divisions of the North Caucasus Army!"

Under Stalin's order, Budonnie could only send two divisions to cooperate with the attack of the Transcaucasian Army.

"So!" Sergatskov continued: "We are not in a hurry, be prepared tonight and launch a counterattack against the Germans until dawn! Then we will make them regret entering our land!"

Zigasev had no objection to this, because he also knew that the Soviet army was not good at night battles... troops that lacked training seemed not suitable for night battles.

But what Zigasev and Sergatskov did not expect was that the Germans did not just stop them as they thought, but wanted to annihilate their four divisions in one breath.

But it doesn't seem to be their fault. Who would have thought that the German army would have only two divisions of troops, but they would have wanted to defeat the Soviet army of four divisions in one breath?
