Chapter 246

Except for Kong Yingda, all of the people here are teenagers. They have grown up in the house of Gonghou. Not to mention the tragedy of people being eaten, they have never seen anyone who is hungry. After hearing Li Mu say that people can eat people when they are extremely hungry, many people don’t believe their expressions, but some people believe it, and they are scared to the point of being pale and dare not speak out.

Li Chengqian is a naturally brave man and curious, so he asked, "Brother, have you really seen people eat people?"

Li Mu casually said that he had never seen him, but this did not prevent him from fooling him: "Can I say that I haven't seen him before? I thought I was a village chariot in Mayi, and was captured by Turkic cavalry, traveled to the grassland and desert, and arrived at Tieshan all the way. I had never seen anything along the way."

Li Chengqian shivered for a moment, looked at Li Mu again and was a little scared, and said, "Brother, you can't..."

"What do you think!" Li Mu said angrily: "Born as a human being, and eating human flesh, is it different from a wild beast? Besides, do you think the Turkic cavalry will distribute the flesh to the prisoners?"

Li Mu said angrily: "Li Chengqian, as the prince, why do you think so strangely? I am telling you, but you are curious about such things. It seems that I have to tell His Majesty that you have a problem with your mind!"

"No, no!" Li Chengqian quickly begged for mercy and said, "I just don't ask. Don't tell my father, as he will scold me."

"Then shut up." Li Mu rebuked and continued: "What I just taught you is a way to think about things, not a refutation of the saint's scriptures. You must distinguish this clearly, maybe you are very confused in your heart-" Li Mu suddenly saw Kong Yingda's appearance, couldn't help laughing, pointed at Kong Yingda and said: "Look at Kong Jijiu, do you think he looks like a toad that is about to explode?"

The students followed Li Mu's fingers and saw Kong Yingda's appearance, they couldn't help laughing. They laughed twice, feeling something was wrong, so they quickly held it in and grunted.

Kong Yingda stared at her eyes and said, "Li Mu, I am not as good as you, but I also have a saying. What you just said, look at the matter, and deduce the reason from the results. Then I ask you, why are Confucianism the only one in the world now? Why have kings believed in Confucianism since the Han Dynasty? If Confucianism is wrong, then that is wrong. Why would such a result be achieved?"

"This question is a question." Li Mu smiled and said, "This is what I am about to say. Lao Kong, I found that you are still a little talented. You are very suitable to be an assistant teacher."

"Don't be so quick, please answer my question."

"Okay, then I'll share my research results with you." Li Mu said seriously: "Confucianism was not the earliest or the latest among all schools of thought. How could it be passed down so long that it has become the dominant position today. It is not the so-called "benevolent government". It is similar to this idea, which is just a long way to follow the teachings of Confucius and for the sake of one's own interests. This is a very despicable and immoral matter. The fundamental reason why Confucianism can inherit and carry forward the eight words "benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, trust, forgiveness, loyalty, and filial piety!"

"These eight words cover all the beautiful virtues that a person can possess. It tells us that as a person, you must have a kind heart, you must have a sense of responsibility, you must pay attention to moral cultivation, benevolence and etiquette complement each other, be loyal, filial, benevolence and forgiveness, etc. Other theories in the hundreds of schools of thought are almost all specialized in one's way, and there is no inclusiveness of Confucianism."

"These eight words are also the original thoughts of Confucius."

"Why did I just say the word "despicable"!" Li Mu's tone became a little angry, saying, "If everyone reads through Confucian classics, they will find something. At first, the thoughts spoken by Confucius were almost all the subtle words and great things. What he did was advocate. Advocacy was not an order. He gave the people a choice. The people felt that Confucius was right, so I listened to Confucius' words. This was called conquering people with virtue. What have these people been doing since Mencius? They used Confucius' thoughts to add their own ideas and called them a family in a noble way. They began to lobby emperors, trying to promote their thoughts from top to bottom? What is this behavior?"

"At the root point, they do not have their own thoughts, and borrowing the thoughts of Confucius is a kind of stealing. Furthermore, their original purpose is not for the people, but for themselves. If you want to say to the emperor for the sake of the people, what do you say to the people? Are you going to force the people? They are trying to control the emperor to achieve the goal of controlling the people. What they really want to do is the emperor behind the emperor. Isn't it creepy?"

"Just just now, Confucius said that since the Han Dynasty, I knew that he was talking about Dong Zhongshu. Is Dong Zhongshu a good person? He once said that as long as the doctrines that are not among the Six Arts should not exist. In the end, it led to the 'abdication of all schools of thought and respect Confucianism alone'. Of course, this is a good thing for Confucianism. But is it really a good thing for the world? Confucius never said that only Confucianism is allowed in this world. Even Confucius himself studied in Lao Tzu and said that 'There must be my teacher when three people walk'. From this we can see that Confucius is also well aware of his shortcomings and needs to learn from others. Why is Dong Zhongshu so rampant that he thinks that Confucianism can solve all problems and that other ideas do not even allow existence? Is he really for Confucianism? He really for the people? Is he not for his own status?!"

"It's a thief!"

Li Mu sighed, "Although Dong Zhongshu proposed to abolish all schools of thought and respect Confucianism alone, until today, we can see that it has really been abolished? No! Every theory can be born, and there is a necessity for its existence. Are there no Taoist priests now? Are Taoist priests not Taoist? What does the Imperial Heaven Supervisory do? Isn't it Yin-Yang family? Dali Temple and the Ministry of Justice use the principles of Legalism? Is the cultivation method that has been passed down to this day a Confucian invention? Which one of the chariots, shafts, plows and other utensils is Confucian?"

Li Mu said seriously: "The most terrible thing is that a theory cannot solve all problems, but there are poor people who believe it can." As he said that, Li Mu pointed to Kong Yingda and said: "This is a poor person. He believes that Confucianism can do everything. Even if sometimes, he discovers that Confucianism is not omnipotent, he still has to buried his head in the old paper pile, find a word, force it to explain, and prove that Confucianism can do it. What do you think is this? Is it so difficult to admit that others' excellence? I have to force myself to have nothing to say, alas--poor, poor person!"

"alright!"

Just when Li Mu was about to continue teasing Kong Yingda, Li Shimin finally couldn't help but walk out of the corridor. When everyone saw Li Shimin coming, they all stood up to salute. Li Mu also saluted him. In fact, he had seen Li Shimin a long time ago, but Li Shimin didn't stand up, so he didn't pick him.

Li Shimin came to Li Mu with a cold face, looked at Kong Yingda, who seemed to have lost his soul, glared at Li Mu with a blame, and comforted Kong Yingda: "My dear, Li Mu's ideas have always been different from ordinary people, so you don't have to take them to heart."

Kong Yingda bowed to the end: "Your Majesty, the old minister is so ashamed. Zhulu Hou is a genius, and everything he says is to the point. Just like Zhulu Hou said just now, the old minister did do things like burying his head and piles of old papers. Now I think about it, I am really ashamed. Maybe Zhulu Hou is right. Not all the things in the world can be solved by Confucianism, alas—"

Li Mu laughed and said, "Old Confucius, don't be discouraged. I have never said that Confucius Sheng is not good. You have to distinguish me well. I admire Confucius Sheng, but for these people, I have to forcefully bind them with my own interests, which makes Confucius Sheng's thoughts a little distorted. I sneer at these people. Good thoughts, truly winning the hearts of the people, do not need to be forced, and the people should follow their own imitations. If they are not favored and oppressed, it is useless."

"The eight words "benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, trustworthiness, forgiveness, loyalty, and filial piety" are good ideas. Without any explanation, everyone knows that this is right. This is the true foundation of Confucianism. Lao Confucius, when you teach in the future, talk more about these things and less about the so-called "benevolent government". You are just a teacher. You know nothing about benevolent government. Don't be a teacher for others if you can't do anything you can. It's embarrassing."

Li Shimin frowned and said, "Li Mu! It's too much! Why do you say such vulgar words?!"

"Your Majesty forgives the crime. I am also thinking about Old Confucius, and I am in a hurry. Old Confucius, I'm sorry."

Kong Yingda sighed and said, "Your Majesty, don't blame Zhulu Hou. He said it has some truth. It's really ridiculous. The old minister is just a teacher, but he quotes classics and talks about the 'way of benevolent government'. How can people convince people? Well, pay attention in the future."

"Your dear, don't listen to this guy talking nonsense. Who doesn't have a teacher? I don't think so. The emperor also has a teacher. If there is no teacher, how can you understand? You should teach as much as you should, without changing it."

Li Mu couldn't help but owed, "Your Majesty, I don't dare to agree. The emperors from ancient times to the present, if they obeyed the teacher's everything, they would definitely not be a good emperor, they must be a puppet emperor. The emperor should have his own opinions. When I reported the answer, I also said that the reason why Yao and Shun were Yao and Shun was because they were wise and not taught by anyone. Of course, everyone has it, but the empty concept of benevolence and politics cannot be taught casually, especially the prince.
