Chapter 27 The Will of the Dead(1/2)

In front of Sean and the others was a huge snail.

A snail as big as a tank!

It has a two-meter-high shell, which is as brown as an ordinary snail and as thick as an earth wall. The soft tissue under the shell is a squirming, constantly moving soft man...

I can't tell if it's a snail, a human, or a man carrying a snail shell...

The slimy slug-like man squirmed softly on the ground. His pupils were replaced by two fleshy tentacles growing out of the eye sockets. He had no arms or legs. The mouth that occupied the entire lower half of his face was constantly opening and closing.

, revealing a jagged tongue and more than 26,000 needle-like teeth inside.

Sean's bullets hit its body and only scattered sparks. None of the bullets could damage it. When it was still two meters away, these approaching bullets were attached to the gel-like air and slowed down.

"Being able to control the air to this extent is already equivalent to those of sublimators."

The old man looked at this scene coldly and fired all the bullets without hesitation. After slamming the handle of the gun at the snail man, he dragged the sluggish Sean and started running backwards.

"Get down!"

The old man yelled.

A violent explosion suddenly sounded from behind. Before Sean, who was pushed to the ground, could react, he saw his vision blurred, countless stars flying around, and a burning, burning pain on his back.

If he hadn't fallen down in advance, Sean had no doubt that he would have been blown away and his cervical vertebrae would have been broken by the powerful impact.

"Compress the air and then release it. It is indeed an air bomb."

There was a coughing sound next to me.

The old man with the same gray face got up. He reached for the cigarettes in his pocket, but only took out the cigarettes. "Sometimes I really envy this kind of thing... The more I look at it, the more helpless I feel, and I hate my own mediocrity..."

The clear laughter of a little girl rang out. In the center of the explosion, the snail man shook his two tentacles in his eyes and slowly moved in.

Such a chilling monster actually laughs like an innocent little girl.

Sean felt like his stomach was being tightened. His scalp was numb for no reason and he wanted to vomit, but he couldn't move. He just sat stiffly on the ground and watched everything that happened.

"Civilian workers are indeed civil servants, and the difference between boxers and ordinary people in the face of this kind of monster is just in flesh quality."

The old man sighed, patted Sean's shoulder vigorously, and stood up.

"I won't say nonsense like I'll stop it and you run away. Originally, I wanted to save at least one of them, but now I see, we are going to die together..."

The distance between the snails and them was gradually shortening, and on the other side of the alley, the remaining two snails quietly walked around at some point, blocking their final path.

The gunshots outside gradually became sparse.

Sean didn't know whether they had won in this alien species invasion war like a science fiction movie, how many citizens had been evacuated, or how many of his colleagues were left alive.

The only thing he knows.

It’s just that I’m about to die…

"What a ridiculous day...am I dreaming?" Sean murmured.

"Living in such a world, who is not dreaming?"

The old man said calmly: "I attacked."

He was so violent that he bent his knees, picked up a baseball bat on the ground, and rushed over like a cheetah, with a hoarse roar that was deafening!

opposite.

The snail man retracted his body into his carapace and accelerated like a heavily armored tank, violently running over it!

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!!!" Sean couldn't help but scream.

This collision of huge disparity in size was like a stone hitting an egg!

The strong wind pressure made Sean almost unable to open his eyes for a moment. Just when he thought the old man would be smashed into mud, a hand suddenly appeared in front of him.

"..."

Time seems to have stood still.

Zhi!!!

The Snail Man's movements were abruptly stopped a few meters away. For the first time, the soft human face under its carapace showed expressions of horror and fear, but its body was still restrained in place by some kind of force, unable to move.

The old man turned around in astonishment. In his sight, a young man wearing a white combat uniform was standing in front of Sean with a smile and stretched out his left hand.

"It's you..."

The old man slowly let go of the baseball bat. A smile appeared on his face but was soon replaced by unspeakable rage:

"Fuck! Do you know-"

"Three hours ago, 1--003 (Calamity Red Dragon) and 1--009 (Avisariton Complex Equation) escaped from the containment area." The boy interrupted him.

"……What!"

"In order to re-contain them, the Foundation paid a great price, profound, heavy... in a sense."

"How could that red dragon break through the containment room? Are you kidding me! Even the self-proclaimed King of Knights has been imprisoned in that containment room!"

"We have the same idea as you, Mr. Nottingham, it's just a pity..."

The young man paused: "It was not only the red dragon that broke through the containment area, but also 1--009 (Avisariton's complex equation). When the latter resisted, it almost paralyzed all our real logic and thinking.

"

"One more thing, Mr. Nottingham. The foundation has immediately dispatched all mobile forces except those who stayed behind after the containment was successful. What you have to do is to organize a retreat and wait for rescue, not to go with them with a baseball bat.

Fight hard.”

"This is indeed very chivalrous, but..."

The young man closed his palms, and the fixed snail man instantly exploded from the inside, radiating crimson like a balloon exploding:

"Not wise-"

The remaining two snail-men also exploded out of thin air at the same time, and countless pieces of meat fell into the alley like rain.

"If I don't work hard, I won't be able to wait for you to come, my child."

The old man subconsciously touched his pocket, but put his hand down in embarrassment halfway. The young man handed over a cigarette with a smile. The old man looked at him silently for a few seconds, then reached out and took it.

"Habermas." said the old man.

"gentlemen."

"You are no longer a fourth-level ascendant. Although I don't have the talent like you, your eyes are more terrifying than before."

"Fifth level, sir." The young Habermas said with a smile.

"I will still insist on complaining to the [Council of Twenty-Eight] against you, Habermas."

The old man blew out a puff of smoke:

"Although you are trying to stop the two contained objects, this is your duty... Anyway, Habermas, you are late and have delayed this rescue operation. The deaths of citizens and my men

, this account will always be settled on your head."

The conversation between the two did not attract much attention from Sean.

Or rather.

He has completely fallen into a sluggish state.

Huge black shadows descended from the sky, like countless giant black whales using air as water, gathering in groups, and carrying out a long and huge migration.

That's not a giant whale——

It’s a swarm of space battleships!!!

The metal giants jumped from the battleship to the ground. They were bathed in flames and flashing electric light. Their steel bodies were heavy and upright, flowing with a frightening cold light.

They were so densely packed that they covered the sky, as if giant gods among the stars roared into the world, bringing destruction and majestic murderous intent!

It's like a massacre!

The metal giants easily used lasers, electromagnetic guns, plasma flamethrowers, and anti-gravity weapons to dismember the monsters' bodies, just as they had dismembered humans before.

All kinds of powerful weapons that have never been seen before, even like those in science fiction movies, are skillfully operated by these giants, and they pour out majestic firepower. Every roar of heavy guns converges into the roar of ten thousand spirits in the sky!

This was a complete victory for mankind, but Sean only felt fear.

He stared blankly at the tall "metal giants" wearing heavy exoskeleton armor who walked through the city at high speed, violently firing metal storm fragmentation projectiles, leaving only pools of blood and flesh wherever they went.

The gunshot seemed to drag him into another world.

A completely different one.

The world hidden behind the scenes of reality...

*

"I'm just a nobody, Mr. Nottingham, don't forget."

Next to Sean, the conversation between the two continued.

The young Habermas did not take it seriously: "Even if the [Twenty-eight-member Council] really wants to punish the Blanc City base for its dereliction of duty, it will be a headache for Dr. Minerva and Dr. Luga."

"I brought the mobile task force in time and saved your life. Even if the honorable congressmen don't reward me, at least they won't deduct my bonus."
To be continued...
