Chapter Good Transformation

According to Shang Yang's military merits, there are eighteen levels and divided into two sequences.

The first sequence is the title of military school, apprentice, Cao, and Duke, which is composed of two titles "Little Fu" and a first-class duke; the second sequence is the title of combat soldiers, including second-class duke, third-class duke, fourth-class duke, fifth-class duke, sixth-class duke, seventh-class duke, eighth-class duke, nineth-class duke, tenth-class guest (left-class duke), eleventh-class duke (right-class duke), twelve-class duke (left-class duke), thirteenth-class duke, thirteenth-class duke, left-class duke, fourteenth-class duke, fourteenth-class duke, right-class duke, sixth-class duke, seventeenth-class duke (left-class duke).

Among them, the second level and fourth level are all "soldiers", and the fifth level and above are officers. After Qin Shihuang unified the world, he removed the original titles of young husbands, guest officials, Zhengqing, etc., and included Guanneihou, Chehou and others into the military merit system, which officially formed a military merit title with twenty levels.

The rule of promotion is that when you are just a jazzless soldier, you must obey the commander of the sergeant and fight with other comrades. If you rush out when your head is hot, it will disrupt the 100-man team's journey and be subject to battlefield discipline first. Qin State's military law, if one person in each army is killed, the other four people are guilty. If each person kills an enemy soldier, you can be exempted from crime.

Therefore, you must think about protecting your comrades in the same army first, rather than how to cut off the enemy's head. The sergeant commander, the leader of the sergeant, and the generals must also obey the command of their superiors, and do whatever they want. Unless the army system is disrupted, you cannot fight against the enemy like in the ring, and everything must be coordinated according to tactics.

The battle between the two armies will eventually be broken down into a battle between the ten thousand-man formation, the thousand-man team, the hundred-man team, and the small team. According to the Warring States Military Art "fight one and defend two" principle, only one-third of the troops will be directly put into battle. Most soldiers mainly watch as reserves, chase or retreat, and may not be able to cut their heads. However, those who directly participate in the war are limited by a fixed tactical position, so it is very good to be able to behead one or two levels. There are too many comrades who want to earn military merits, and the competition is a bit fierce.

The Military Merits and Title Law stipulates that if a soldier who has no title is beheaded, he will be promoted to the first level. Those who want to be an official can be a fifty-stone official (equivalent to the sergeant commander), and if he beheaded, he will be promoted to the second level. He is qualified to be an official with a hundred stone (equivalent to the sergeant commander). When you become a sergeant commander, an indicator will be added. If the entire army kills more enemies than losses, then military merit will be recorded. Killing enemies is equivalent to losses, and if you lose more than you kill enemies, you will be guilty in collective sin.

When you are promoted to the commander of the treasury and the commander of the 100 general level, you will be beheaded if you do not get the enemy's head. Moreover, if you behead the 23rd level, you cannot ensure that you can be promoted. Because the Shangjun law stipulates that your 100-man team must defeat the enemy and behead more than 33 people in order to "energy" in order to meet the reward conditions. Only 100 generals and the treasury chief can be promoted to the treasury first level.

When you are a general, the standard of Ying Theory becomes that more than 8,000 beheadings in siege battles and 2,000 beheadings in field battles. As long as you meet the standards, you can get rewards from commanding generals to logistics and labor. In other words, the Qin generals not only have to win battles, but also annihilate at least thousands of enemy troops to be qualified to be promoted. Most officers are limited by their command ability and always stay at a lower level.

Therefore, this kind of "Entertainment Theory" is designed with great skill, which makes many brave soldiers unable to get promoted without "Entertainment Theory" in performance appraisal, which also makes many famous generals feel the difficulty of being a marquis, and makes the title of the Qin Dynasty almost synonymous with generals. As the title positions are further separated, even those who serve as senior military officers may not be able to get a good title.

Did Sima Cuo, a famous general in Shu, make great contributions? But when he was a Bangwei, he was only a guest title equivalent to Zuo Shuchang. After Bai Qi conquered Xincheng, he moved from Zuo Shuchang to Zuo Geng. The title was higher than Sima Cuo. Later, he made military achievements and moved to Daliang. Sima Cuo had been changed to Shangjun magistrate with a rank of 2,000 stones, but he was only Zuo Geng among military titles. Wang He, the deputy general of the Qin army in the Battle of Changping, was Zuo Shuchang, and Wang Ling, the general who attacked Handan first, was only five doctors.

Since the highest military merits were only as high as Daliang's father, although Bai Qi made many outstanding achievements, he was unable to be promoted again for many years. Other military generals became the descendants of Zuo Shuchang, and only a few outstanding people who made important military merits could continue to be promoted. Just like Shang Jun, Wu'an Jun's title, was a special treatment that only a very small number of people could enjoy after the military merits were topped off. This is also the fundamental reason why Wang Jian complained about the difficulty of being a marquis.

Shang Yang made such strict rules because he was worried that the Qin army would win too much war, which led to the court not having so much land and title rewards? Zhao Bing thought it was not. At least the Qin State did not have such concerns in the early days of its establishment.

Because the Qin State's reform was large and sparsely populated, the country had a lot of land, and later it plundered a large amount of land through war. The population of Guanzhong increased sharply because it was far away from war. Qin State used large-scale immigration to make land for the Guanzhong Juehu, and the new Juehu became the guardian of the new territory. More importantly, unlike the six countries, Qin State often gave hundreds of thousands of acres of land to the nobles, leaving enough resources to reward military merits.

Shang Yang implemented a universal land grant system in Qin State. Every household had a hectare of land granted. The land granted by Qin military merit increased step by step on the basis of ordinary land granted. Each level of reward for titles was increased by one hectare of land and nine acres of houses. Apply for a commoner without title to be a concubine for himself and could hold an official position corresponding to the title.

It can be seen that the land consumed by the Qin army's merit-for-the-field system is much smaller than that of other dynasties. In addition to the limited number of merit-for-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-counter-the-

Of course, the emergence of a new system has its own specific background. Zhao Bing initially imitated the Qin military merit system but was only an emergency measure, not as deep as he thought, so it was not perfect, and there were many hidden dangers. Later, as his experience in governance increased, his vision and insight were very different. Looking back at Shang Yang's reforms, it was actually not simple. The design of the military merit system had deep political intentions.

In fact, Shang Yang's military merit system design idea is more inclined to save land, and prioritize the protection of the rights and interests of low-ranking military and civilians, and limit the excessive expansion of the aristocratic class. Therefore, his original intention of promoting military merit is not to turn the Qin army into a tiger or wolf, but to challenge the privileges of hereditary aristocrats. Therefore, under the military merit system, the Qin army becomes the crown of all countries more like a by-product, and this is also an important reason why he was finally broken into pieces by the car.

After that, the Han Dynasty inherited the Qin system, but did not consider the historical background and political reasons of Shang Yang's reforms. Instead, it was copied by mechanically, which led to the priority of satisfying the military aristocrats in operation. Compared with the standards of land granting in the early Han Dynasty, the Han Dashang, which was equivalent to the Qin Dashang Mausoleum, had 86 hectares of land, and the Qin Dashang Mausoleum, the highest title of Qin State, could only add 17 hectares of land to the basic land granting.

However, the Qin system will receive three hundred taxes from the ninth level five doctors, and after making meritorious service, there will be another three hundred taxes. The higher the title, the more taxes you get, but the less land you get. Even in the Qin Dynasty, although the marquis Chehou in the twenty-level military merit system, the Guannei Hou can get a huge amount of taxes, the directly mastered the land not as much as we imagined.

This shows that the Han system deviates from the original intention of the Qin Dynasty's military merit system, which also leads to the military merit titles going to its original opposite until it disappears. This shows that in different eras, good systems also have problems such as "southern oranges and north citrus" that are not suitable for the local environment. They cannot be copied mechanically, but should be adjusted and improved.

Therefore, when Zhao Bing took advantage of the opportunity of replacing firearms in the entire army and re-establishing a new army, he faced the problem that the legacy of "emphasizing culture and suppressing martial arts" was still stubborn, which led to the low political status of the warriors. However, his main task at present was to restore the country and need military personnel to serve him; in addition, he knew that in an era where farming economy was the main focus, land issues were still the main social contradiction; in addition, it was necessary to avoid overcorrection and the abnormal regime of military personnel in power could not appear.

First, Zhao Bing cleaned up the military officials during the Shaoxing period of the Song Dynasty, changed the sixty to twenty-two, and the rank corresponded to the civil servants. At the same time, he clarified the various ranks, such as Hengban, Jizi, and envoys; Hengban Zheng, Jizi, Deputy Envoy, Deputy Envoy, Ambassador, Little Envoy, Wuzi Weiyong and others, and re-determined the official names and ranks.

According to the high, middle and low ranks, the generals are divided into third-class, ninth-rank, and eighteenth-ranks. Some official names are eliminated, and the past is introduced as only honorary ranks and the titles of the official who are sent to the public, which are equivalent to modern military ranks. The first to third ranks are senior officers, called generals of the state, generals of the state, and generals of the state, and above, they are distinguished from Zheng Er; the fourth to sixth ranks are intermediate officers, called Lang Generals, generals and deputy generals, with prefixes plus the name of the military ranks, and distinguished from Zheng Er by left and right; the seventh to ninth ranks are grassroots officers, divided from Duwei, lieutenant, and deputy lieutenant, and divided from Zheng Er by left and right. The soldiers are divided into fourth-class and fourth-class, and the names are also very modern, and they are called sergeant, sergeant and sergeant.

This is actually equivalent to modern military ranks. It is the basis for promotion in terms of merit and can be used as the basis for paying salary and enjoying benefits. It has changed the rule that in the past, real positions were used as the payment of salary. This has solved the defect of making merits but not being able to advance, and it is difficult to enjoy matching treatment, so that those who have military merits can feel at ease.

Of course, the level of military rank is only used as the basis for enjoying treatment, and does not interfere with the actual position and cannot obtain power. However, it can be used as a condition for priority promotion. In wartime, those with higher military ranks can be automatically appointed as casualties and chief officials at the time of war. Moreover, because it corresponds to the rank, they can obtain equivalent official ranks when transferring to civil servants.
