Chapter 100: Seeing Brahman and Enchanting Ananda
Devadatta looked at his cousin Gautama Siddatta sitting among the two trees of Sala in the city of Kushina, and suddenly grew corpse with a lonely face. He sat cross-legged in front of the Buddha. Devadatta was below Sakyamuni, and among the many Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who were reincarnated in the mortal world with the Buddha, he had the highest wisdom and the best talent.
Even the four great Bodhisattvas such as Samantabhadra and Manjushri will never be able to penetrate the realm of true nature and enter the lowest level of entanglement in the three realms. Beyond Brahma, you can see Brahma and face the level where the Tathagata Buddha confronts Brahma.
Only Devadatta can touch the realm of true nature, and only one step away from being able to break through the realm of nothingness, enter the highest state of formless meditation, escape into the three realms of non-thinking, non-thinking heaven, and help the Tathagata with one arm. However, after he informed the disciples of Shakyamuni of this intention, he was unanimously opposed.
Shariputra even used the will of Sakyamuni to prevent him from looking for where Sakyamuni went after he entered into samadhi.
But Devadatta is the first person in the Buddhist sect below the Buddha and has many followers. Even in the Lingshan Great Leiyin Temple, Devadatta is in charge of the eight guardians. The Pratyekabuddhas of the Kinnara tribe, the four great bodhisattvas and one Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, can only command the Garuda, but the Pratyekabuddhas can command one alone, which shows how high his status is.
A monk with a very beautiful face and dignified appearance quietly came behind him. Devadatta didn't even open his eyes and said, "Ananda, do you still want to persuade me? The World Honored One fights against the evil demons outside the heavens - Brahma, but you don't allow me to help me. Are you afraid that I will get enlightenment from the World Honored One and break the false statements of Shariputra, Subhuti and the others?"
Ananda bent down, touched Devadatta's feet and bowed respectfully, saying: "Brother, in the past, my Buddha discussed with the Jade Emperor, and asked the heaven to follow the example of the Emperor of the Land of the Land of the Land to give up the samsara and practice the six realms of hell. You were angry and opposed, saying that the six realms of reincarnation are divided into good and evil, which is not the right way. The causes and conditions of sentient beings arise, the causes and conditions are destroyed, and all actions are impermanent. Every time in the samsara, the reincarnation of the past life, should be a brand new individual. Do not bring many troubles in the previous life to the next life."
"The Emperor Houtu is selfless and regards sentient beings as straw dogs. This is the most compassionate heart, far better than the six realms of reincarnation."
"The World Honored One was furious and made your predecessor, the ancient Buddha who burned lamps to extinction, and took away the four guardians of heaven, Asura, Kinnara, and Dragon. After the Pratyekabuddha Buddha was reborn, he gave the Kinnara and the Dragon Tribe. Three hundred kalpas ago, the World Honored One discussed with the Jade Emperor to set up a net of cause and effect, so that you could be rewarded with good and evil. You objected to it, saying that all the things of sentient beings are impermanent, so you are miserable and can develop a transcendent mind. This is the first cause of the Four Wonderful Truths. Therefore, opportunities are impermanent, causes and conditions are impermanent, and there is no false statement such as cause and effect."
"The Buddha took you to protect the Dragon Tribe again to show punishment."
"Now Manjushri and Samantabhadra took the scriptures from the foreign teacher in that day, in order to establish the rewards of good and evil karma in the samsara, to promote the Bodhisattva, the Mahayana path, and to open up the Pure Land to save sentient beings. Shariputra, Subhuti and others agree, and you scold them in person, saying that Pure Land is a heretic, and reincarnation cannot save sentient beings. Only the three seals of Dharma, all actions are impermanent, all dharmas have no self, and nirvana and silence. You can transcend the sea of suffering."
Devadatta finally opened his eyes and glared at Ananda:
"The mind has no attachment to the mind, no attachment to the mind, no abandonment of thoughts, no obsession with every thought, no delusion, no gain or birth, troubles are Bodhi, all illusions are perfect, no coming or going, the true nature of life and death is true, no birth or death, one mind reveals the Three Canons, the nature of the Three Canons is silent, called silence and Nirvana, which is the right way to enlightenment. Buddhism can only save oneself, but not others. Shakyamuni is the enlightened, not a god or a Buddha."
"Anuttara Samyaksambodhi, do not seek out of the outside, nor do you seek out of the Bodhisattva, but you should seek inward, and learn Buddhism. On the other side of the sea of suffering, the enlightenment of Sakyamuni is like a bright lamp in the sea of suffering, illuminating the road ahead, but it cannot help. Saving people to climb the boat on the other side is the self-reliance of their own mind. Now some people say that Sakyamuni's wisdom is like a golden bridge on the sea of suffering, the other side is not in Nirvana and silence, but in the three realms and one pure land. This is the saying of the evil demons of heretics."
"The three realms are a great sea of suffering, and the Pure Land is also a sea of suffering. Manjushri and Samantabhadra deceive sentient beings to regard the Pure Land of the Sea of suffering as the other shore, and do not see the right awakening and do not know the silence of Nirvana, so that they can be free from troubles. True is an evil demon!"
"The karma of reincarnation, good and evil cause and effect are said to be constant, not impermanent, Bodhisattva, Mahayana, the Mahayana saves people saying that there is self, not selfless, rebirth in the Pure Land, and the Pure Land, the other shore is not Nirvana." Devadatta opened his eyes and shouted angrily: "Isn't it against the three Dharma seals? According to the sayings of gods and Buddhas, those who confuse sentient beings in the three realms and Bodhisattvas should kill them!"
"The World Honored One also said that there is a real seal besides the three Dharma seals!" Ananda explained.
"Who is the World-Honored One?" Devadatta said indifferently: "Is it the Buddha of Tathagata, or Shakyamuni? Or Gautama Siddhartha?" Ananda said in amazement: "Devadatta! Do you doubt the Buddha?"
"A thousand kalpas ago, the World Honored One preached to me, and once said: If you have obtained the Buddhist seal, you will be well-versed; if you have obtained the King Seal, you will have no difficulty. Even if you have not said the World Honored One, those who obtain the Dharma Seal can be regarded as the Buddha's words. Even if the Buddha says, those who violate the three Dharma Seals are also heretics!" Devadatta said calmly: "This is my World Honored One!"
"After I was demoted to the ancient Buddha position of Lan Deng, I was completely disheartened and thought about it for three kalpas, hoping to die in Nirvana and follow the World Honored One. Finally, in my meditation, I realized that the World Honored One was the one who obtained the true nature of the world, and that was Shakyamuni. A thousand kalpas were the World Honored One, and after a thousand kalpas, the Tathagata was not the World Honored One. God and Buddha were not the Buddha!"
"The Buddha is the enlightened person, not the god, nor can he save people! The Buddha of the Tathagata is the Buddha's troubles. The transformation of your troubles is the Buddha in the hearts of all living beings in the world, but not my Buddha, it is a demon!"
"Devadatta!" Ananda stood up and said in shock: "Do you want to betray the Buddha?"
"Ananda!" Devadatta smiled and said, "My brother, after I realized this principle, my meditation was shaken. When I became an ancient Buddha, I could meditate to the four heavens of the formless realm and see the true nature. After the heart of meditation was shaken, I was trapped in a place of nothingness. Today, the external evil demon - Brahma, came, and I can finally verify whether the Tathagata is the Buddha!"
"If the Tathagata is close to Brahma, then the Tathagata is the evil demon of the heretics. The World Honored One's troubles when he becomes a Buddha. If the Tathagata is not Brahma, then I will die in Nirvana and leave purity." Devadatha said to Ananda.
Five hundred Buddhas came out behind him, and three thousand Kinnara guardians were all his followers. In the past, the ancient Buddhas of Lingshan, and now the group of Buddhas led by the Pratyekabuddha, they sat down around Gautama Siddhartha and Devadhata to watch the result of his entering into meditation and searching for the Buddha. There are three thousand Buddhas in Lingshan, among which the various vehicles are different. In the past, there were one thousand Buddhas in the ancient Buddha lineage. After the lamp fell, they dispersed three hundred, and after being deposed by the Buddha, they dispersed two hundred. Now there are only five hundred Pratyekabuddhas, which is the vehicle for Pratyekabuddha.
Under the withered and flourishing trees, Devadatta entered the extinction, and a thought went to the heaven of neither thinking nor thinking.
Ananda's Zen heart was shaken, and he looked at Devadatta's corpse in surprise. One day and night, Ananda saw Devadatta's corpse open his eyes and shed blood and tears. The Pratyekabuddha Buddha Kinnara fell from the sky, and cried out three times in grief, laughed wildly three times, and shouted: "The Buddha is dead, the heretics of the Tathagata! All Buddhas follow me and destroy the Lingshan!"
"All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are evil people who are devils. Only Impermanence can awaken their original hearts and make them realize the right enlightenment."
"We must make all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas sink into the sea of suffering, the Pure Land of Lingshan becomes, abide and destruction, and emptiness, all Buddhas are impermanent, good and evil are impermanent, cause and effect are impermanent, you follow me and break the six realms, confuse good and evil, and transform into external demons, and set up a disaster for the Buddha!"
"The Dharma has been destroyed, and heretics are rampant. If the last disaster cannot be achieved, I am the lawless!"
Ananda saw in horror that the Pratyekabuddha's golden body collapsed, sat down on the lotus platform and turned into a black lotus. The five hundred Pratyekabuddhas also followed Devadhata and turned into a demon. Pratyekabuddha... No, it should be Wutian. Seeing Ananda's frightened expression, he laughed at the sky, and then knocked him down the dust and led a group of demons to the place where Shariputra and others were.
