Chapter 103: The Investigator's Extra Story: The First Night (Part 2)
Before walking out of this room, Chen Ang glanced at the doll head that Nick hung on his waist, and had to remind him: "Take that thing away!"
"Why?" Nick said in confusion: "Didn't you just ask me to see these things with your own eyes? I also want to bring them back to the bureau!"
"Can you put this back on that poor man!" Chen Ang sighed.
"We are here to investigate, not to demolish the house. It is difficult for me to explain to the two homeowners if you do this!"
Nick smiled and said, "But they are not the owners, are they? They are just two bandits who occupy the nest, parasitizing in this house, turning this place into their demon cave, and devouring one innocent person after another who was lured by them."
Chen Ang snatched Nick's head, put it back on the plastic doll, and walked out of the room with a flashlight. The corridor was pitch black. Chen Ang took the flashlight and searched everywhere. They checked the room on the first floor one by one, and found a room with traces of inhabited people. There was also a tortured doll inside. It was already split, and all parts of the body were hidden in the hidden corner of the room.
It was a Barbie doll, only about forty centimeters high, and it had been dismantled.
Nick took out its head from under the bed, and in Nick's hands, the moving big eyes blinked, and a little girl's laughter suddenly came from the quiet room.
It's the kind of child who is six or seven years old, and has not changed his voice yet.
The sound came from the corridor. After hearing this, Chen Ang quickly opened the door. They saw a petite figure in a white dress flashing through the corridor. She was wearing a lady-child clothing from the golden age, and quickly ran through the corridor and disappeared at the turning point of the corridor.
Nick asked very calmly: "What do you think is that thing?"
"Relax, Nick!" Chen Ang said calmly: "She might just want to play hide-and-seek with us!"
There was nothing unusual about the rooms in the back. When they arrived at the last room in the corridor, they walked back. The room was close to the stairs. When Nick and Chen Ang came in, they found that this house was a room that the couple often used, so they tacitly kept it for the end.
There are some very ordinary things inside. If there is any difference, it is a little more lifelike atmosphere. There are many old photos on the cabinet next to the door, as well as some small ornaments, bronze peacocks, old alarm clocks, and oil paintings hanging on the wall.
Chen Ang picked up the photo frame containing the old photos. The black and white photos on it were a bit old. They were yellow and the photo papers were a little crisp. The photo shows two young children, who were wearing costumes from the last century, and some people called that era the Golden Age.
Nick suddenly noticed the white dress the girl was wearing in the photo.
He opened his mouth: "Uh! Isn't this the kid who just played games with us?" Chen Ang opened the drawer under the cabinet, which contained a lot of old miscellaneous items, but Chen Ang noticed a black leather notebook at a glance. He took out the black leather notebook, sat on the chair next to him and flipped through it.
Written in a very concise and clear beginning
"Released from his job as a nurse and came to Teribu Diocese as a caretaker was perhaps one of the craziest decisions of my life. Friends said I was crazy. Teribu Diocese is notorious locally because of religion, ignorance and conservatism. But I can no longer bear the indifference of the hospital. We sent patients away and looked like we threw away the garbage we didn't use at home."
"I decided to do something more meaningful, after all, I'm only twenty-five years old, what's wrong with changing it?"
Chen Ang continued to read, and passed some meaningless words, and a familiar name suddenly appeared in the middle.
"Secretary Luke is a little too enthusiastic about the hostess here, like he has a leg!"
Nick saw this and whispered: "Twenty-five years old, and attorney Luke... We seem to have read her old diary. Twenty-five-year-old Caroline Ellis looks like a world of difference from the Caroline Ellis we have seen. Is time so polished?"
Chen Ang continued to turn around, "My employer is Violet and Ben Devliox. Ben was seriously ill and he had a stroke in bed, so Mrs. Violet asked me to take care of him at a high price. But Ben saw that I was acting very painful, and his eyes seemed to be saying something to me."
After a long inner monologue, the diary reads: "The former owner of this house is a brother and sister, Martin and Gris. They are the children of bankers and inherited the mansion from their parents. However, they lived in isolation and were unmarried for life. I asked me to say that two lonely men and widows, even if they lived together for life, would it cause any good guesses..."
"God forgives me! I shouldn't think so dirty."
Nick picked up the old photos on the table. They should be Martin and Grace, but another photo fell out from behind the frame. Nick picked it up and found that it was still a photo of Martin and Grace when they were children. However, behind them was a black couple. They stood behind the brother and sister like servants. The back of the photo said dad Justefa and mom Selsey said.
Nick laughed: "It's a black servant again, do you know? Many of the rich white people in the United States grew up under the care of black servants. They called them father, mother, uncle, and aunt, but they were not ruthless when they sold them. Just like Uncle Tom..."
"Have you read "Gone with Gone"? There are those loyal black servants in it, writing them like part of the family, but when they turn their heads, they can cruelly abuse their 'family'!"
"I bet... Justifa's father and Selsey's mother must have no good ending in the end!"
Chen Ang smiled slightly: "That doesn't necessarily mean... Sometimes, the identities of abusers and abusers can be transformed."
"It depends on which side is a little more evil!"
The diary later tells a story that may be related to the strangeness of this mansion. While Caroline was taking care of this mansion, she gradually felt the strangeness of this old mansion. Some strange things often happen here, and the two old people living here are also very strange.
Ben often rejected his wife's approach, and even wanted to climb over the window and escape on a rainy night, but fell in the yard. He was a stroke patient! Caroline found that he wrote mud on the bed sheet to save his life! So Caroline had a terrible guess, maybe Mrs. Violet poisoned Ben and caused him to have a stroke.
Mrs. Violet had a somewhat ambiguous relationship with lawyer Luke. She had a stroke in the attic, but Violet claimed that there was a door in the attic that they had never opened before and was the attic again!
Finally Caroline retells a story told by Mrs. Violet:
"The mansion was originally built by a wealthy banker. He had two daughters, Martin and Gris, and was taken care of by a black couple. Without further ado, it was naturally Justifah and Selsey's mother. Their children trusted their 'Justah and Selsey', but one day, the adults went out for a banquet and did not see the two children when they came back."
"So they began to search around and finally found the two children who were performing witchcraft rituals in the attic. Although the two children claimed that they wanted to learn witchcraft and let the black servants teach them, the adults did not give the two black servants any chance to speak."
"They angrily dragged the two black men downstairs, and a group of white upper-class elites hung them on the tree and burned them to death! But then, perhaps because of retribution, the banker suddenly killed his wife, then committed suicide, leaving all his property to the two children."
This may be the origin of all strange phenomena!
Nick sneered: "It seems you lost! I know that those 3K parties can't do anything good!"
"That's not necessarily..." Chen Ang said: "Mrs. Violet in this diary is full of suspicion. How credible is the story she tells?"
Nick calmly said, "We will find out the truth in the end, and, what are our bets?"
"There seems that Caroline has nothing suspicious in the diary. Instead, the former owner of the house, Violet and Ben Devriox, are like a woman who murdered her husband and a poor, tortured victim. Ben even asked Caroline for help, but the words for help on the sheets mysteriously disappeared after Caroline found Luke's lawyer complaint!" Nick analyzed: "Maybe Caroline herself has a mental illness, and everything was delusional."
"Later, attorney Luke discovered this, controlled her, murdered two old men, and seized their property?"
Later in the diary, Caroline gradually believed in witchcraft and began to write some rumors about local mysterious secrets, as Nick guessed that her mental state was deteriorating.
In the diary, both Caroline and Madame Violet are normal, at least it looks like this. The Caroline that Chen Ang and others saw was simply a reserve murderer, with a mental state almost close to a madman, and their whole body was gloomy and terrible...
In the end, Caroline was in a bad state. At first, she did not dare to write it more clearly in her diary. Instead, she vaguely mentioned some strange concepts. She copied many materials and rituals with her pen, including sulfur, lime, blood, and hair, as if preparing for a strange witchcraft ceremony.
She also mentioned that a local witchcraft legend has a kind of witchcraft that can obtain immortal life. As long as you sacrifice a living person, you can obtain all his remaining life.
Seeing this, Nick's heart trembled. He seemed to be connected with all this. The keen sense of agents's sense of smell made him instantly connect all the clues.
