10. Hell on Earth (Part 1)(1/2)
Tiantong Temple Boyu Peak is in a quiet and secret Zen temple.
Hua Qing was sitting on the cushion, listening to the Japanese monk in front of him telling the scenery of Japan, accompanied by the old host of Tiantong Temple, and a group of Nirvana monks and Zen Master Yuanfa.
Hua Qing traveled everywhere in Jiangnan. She had been to Tiantong Temple before. Moreover, because of her identity as a disciple of Kunlun, she made extensive friends in Jiangnan and was very fond of food.
When I come here, I will naturally be regarded as a guest of honor.
In this Zen temple, the monks living on Mount Hiei who came across the sea from Japan. It can be seen that they suffered a lot this time.
Although I have been practicing in Tiantong Temple for a while, I still have pale faces and thin skin. It’s not that Tiantong Temple has poor food, but they just have no inspiration in their eyes and are full of dusk energy.
It's like being pulled out of thin air and being like a rotten wood.
This is obviously abnormal.
This is very similar to those warriors who have seen Hua Qing, who survived after being extracted from the true energy by the All Spirit Evil Formation.
But these monks did not look old, and seemed to have their essence unharmed.
It's really strange.
What is telling Huaqing is the contemporary host of the Tiantai Sect of Hiei Mountain.
This Japanese Buddhist teaching is taken from the Central Plains. Except for some details, the various Buddhist precepts are very different from the Central Plains Buddhism. Even monk robes and clothes are very similar and inherited from the same lineage.
Of course, the magic weapon in the hand of the old Japanese monk in front of him and the characters on the Zen clothes on his body were slightly different from those in the Central Plains Buddhism.
This is also understandable that any religion has to go to different places to undergo a series of localizations.
The old monk's face was haggard, like those Japanese monks outside, with no inspiration in his eyes, a dusk aura was heavy, and there was a hideous sword wound on his neck.
Although it has healed, it still looks shocking.
It is not difficult to imagine that when they escaped from Japan, they must have experienced a bloody battle.
As he said, there were four or five hundred people left in the Japanese Buddhist sect that fled with Tiantai Sect, but less than one hundred people could come to Tiantong Temple safely.
The rest of the monks and lay Buddhists will either stay in that hopeless hell forever, or will sleep in the surging sea.
It is hard to cross the sea with blood, and the meaning revealed in these five words is really heavy.
This old Japanese monk, whose Dharma name is Zhenji, speaks fluent Chinese language. If he hadn't had monk's robes with Japanese characters on his body, he would have looked at his body and speech only, Hua Qing would never think he was from someone outside the territory.
When Hua Qing entered the door and sat down, a Zen master Hongfa was in charge of Tiantong Temple, turning the Buddhist beads and explaining to Hua Qing:
"Zen Master Zhenji, thirty-three years ago, when the sea route was not yet cut off, he came to my Tiantong Temple to study Buddhism. He lived in the temple for eight years. He returned to Japan after the Buddhist teachings were thorough.
He was a close friend of the old monk. He believed that my Tiantong Temple could protect the last hope of Japanese Buddhism, so he brought the suffering monks into our temple. The old monk did not dare to be negligent, so he sent a letter to Nirvana Temple that night.
Yuanwu presided over and sent Master Yuanfa to our temple to sit in. There were also many martial monks accompanying him to protect the Buddha's kingdom. Only then did the old monk feel relieved.
However, when Zen Master Zhenji came to our temple, there were thieves who spied day and night, and they wanted to intercept and kill and poison, which made the people in the temple feel unstable."
"It was me who implicated Tiantong Baosha."
The old monk from Japan also lamented and pronounced the Buddha's name. He looked at Huaqing and said:
"When we escaped, we were chased by Daming Mao. We originally thought that we would be fine if we arrived in Middle Earth. But Daming was as loyal as a stone, and he still sent people to chase him across the sea."
"In recent days, there have been many Japanese merchant ships at the port outside Ningbo City."
Hua Qing rubbed her fingers and asked:
"Those are those who are the chasing soldiers of that daimyo?"
“Not all.”
The old monk lamented and said:
"The land of our country has become a hell on earth. Many people, like us, fled their hometown by boat and went to the Middle Land and the Three Han lands. Although those Chinese call themselves merchants, they are afraid they have the intention of refuge.
It’s just that they are afraid of the immortal’s reproach and dare not tell the truth. Alas, all sentient beings are suffering, and in order to survive, they can only come up with this worst.”
Hua Qing nodded and asked again:
"When I was young, I also heard that there were many Japanese merchants on the coast of Quanzhou, and the sea routes were very prosperous. I once heard that Japanese scenery was different from our Central Plains. It was indeed caused by years of war, but it was not as difficult as the people were living in poverty.
Your Emperor can still maintain the general state of the country for generations. It was more than 20 years ago when the gods had not appeared and the sea route had not been cut off. But now I heard from you that Japan is hell on earth.
I think that during the past twenty years when the sea routes were cut off, something big will happen in your country, but the thieves in Penglai will harm the people?"
After hearing the word "Penglai" mentioned by Hua Qing, the body of the old Japanese monk trembled a few times. It was obviously this name, which touched his greatest fear.
He kept reciting the Buddha's name, which calmed his mind. He pursed his lips and said in a hoarse voice:
"Since the age of the flying birds, wars have gradually emerged in our country. The reason is that five hundred years ago, immortals came to the west, showed their saints in front of others, taught magic and martial arts, and disrupted the outline of the country.
The ambitions of Daming in various places were incited, and the development of a century of people finally caused disasters on earth, and the entire Japanese territory fell into turbulent battles.
Millions of soldiers cholera continued, and the famous name of various places was to seek power, which led to the absence of peace in the world, and no one followed the six Pure Land of Buddhism.
Once the human heart is gone, the beginning of the underworld, the demons rage, and despair is born of the world.
But as the young master said, although this chaos lasted for a hundred years, it was only a disaster in the world and a disturbance of people's livelihood until more than 20 years ago, but it could still be barely maintained.
But at that time, the three immortals of Penglai had been passed down from generation to generation in our country, including Yunzhongjun, Yuejun and Youmingjun. For five hundred years, they have been regarded as loyal ministers by the emperors of all generations.
Immortals do have wonderful methods that can stabilize the country and maintain the majesty of the emperor, so that they dare not collide with the imperial palace during the chaos of war, and they are like the Dinghai Dinghai needle, attracting worship and follow the creatures.
Until the time when the gods appeared, even though we, the monks and other religions were excluded by Penglai, felt that it was a battle of faith and would not do what he wanted."
The old monk stopped and his tone became heavier.
"But once the divine wind appears, the sea and land are cut off, and Japan's territory is as if it is wrapped in it, and its contact with the outside world is suddenly cut off. The demon knows that the time has arrived, and it shows its true nature.
First, the Emperor's Imperial Palace was attacked, and the city was burned by fire in Kyoto. The lord of the state died overnight. The immortal assisted the side branch ascended the throne and thought it was a puppet.
The royal majesty fell, and then a large-scale construction was built in the great city of the country, creating a high-rise building in the Penglai Immortal House, calling it "Yutian Pavilion"
Things can still be controlled at this point, but when the Imperial Office was built, the situation took a sharp turn and spiritual energy gradually arises. The immortals used the emperor's mouth to tell the revival of the Divine Court and forced the people to turn to Penglai.
It also has two Onmyoji tribes under the jurisdiction of the Tuyumen family and the Hemao family. They summoned ghosts and gods in their territory and spread their territory. For more than a hundred years, Daming masters have learned military training skills from immortals, cultivated elite soldiers, and also inherited martial arts by warriors.
When this spiritual energy comes, wars everywhere will escalate in no time."
The old monk's voice became more sad and his tone became more desperate.
"It was originally a dispute on earth. In just less than ten years, it was supported by the supernatural powers. At the foot of the Heavenly King Mountain, there were white bones and demons, and they were in chaos everywhere.
There were actually demons and ghosts who claimed to have "killed hundreds of people". They ran rampant in Kyoto for seven days and nights, using blood as drinks and meat as food, resulting in a thousand casualties.
Under Nara City, tens of thousands of soldiers were born, and the city was destroyed in three days and slaughtered 100,000 people were massacred, making the prosperous place a ghost land.
In Akita, mountain monsters invaded rebellion, drove out the people, destroyed towns, and built a demon country.
In the sea of heaven and grass, there are also clusters of sea monsters, causing wind and waves, flooding 13 cities, and tens of thousands of creatures turned into water ghosts and souls.
The people were frightened and had to ask for protection of Onmyoji. My Buddha was merciful. The monks in Japan also wanted to protect all living beings, but they were ordered by the Emperor to ban them and gave them a jade edict.
In Japan, only the Penglai Immortals were able to kill ghosts and monsters. With these years, the immortals became more and more popular.
When the gods first descended, there were still great families in the country, with 37 famous families in various places. Ten years later, only five Daming families were left, each known as the Demon King, occupying Fengyu cities in various places and conquering endlessly.
One of the three parts of our country has been abandoned into endless wasteland. It was the real scene of hell that the old monk saw.
The demons roared, and the evil people were all happy, killing animals and eating meat, drinking blood and returning.
There is no rooster crowing thousands of miles, no one is in smoke, white bones are exposed in the wild, and those who think of it are heartbroken."
The old monk pursed his lips, his Buddhist beads tightly pressed, and everyone around him also heard the tragic situation and showed compassion.
But this is not over yet.
"If it's just a demon who makes trouble, that's fine."
The voice of the old monk Zhenji was hoarse, and he continued to say:
"Although Japan's territory is small, it is not as rich as the country in Middle Earth, there are many benevolent people in the country, and there are also swordsmanship, loyal and righteous warriors, and hidden Ninjas can rely on it.
The spiritual energy gradually arises, and all kinds of magic are enough to fight against evil spirits. If we really want to fight, we are not afraid of all sentient beings who protect the Tao, but what is more terrifying than evil spirits is the viciousness of removing firewood from the bottom of the pot."
He pointed to his godless eyes and pointed to the Japanese monks outside the Zen room.
He said in a trembling tone:
"In the country, as the spiritual energy rises, whether it is Buddhists, warriors, ninjas, or sword saints, we are willing to resist, but they are becoming weaker and weaker.
Originally, I thought I had just been subjected to a spell, but later, the old monk took a risk to go to the Nara Ghost Town and then learned the truth.
What kind of revival of the Divine Court and what kind of spiritual energy restart are all deceptions!”
Zhen Ji was so angry that he couldn't speak, his tone was filled with despair and anger.
"In just twenty years, the land of Japan has been filled with evil formations, taking the spiritual rhymes, turning them into spiritual energy and rising, causing adults to become rotten wood, and children's spiritual roots are gone. All millions of creatures in our country have been cut off from the future.
We were forced to turn into firewood and support it in Penglai's spiritual realm, and nurtured thousands of immortals and demons in that spiritual realm, but we did not give me a ray of hope to wait for.
Only by obeying Penglai, learning his immortal skills, following his martial arts, and following his rules can one have good talents and ambitions can one display.
The five great names in our country are not because they have strong combat power, nor because they are protected by gods and Buddhas. It is just because they were the first to join Penglai and have been used as dogs for Penglai for generations.
pity"
The old monk's breath was dull, he collapsed on the cushion, closed his eyes, and said in a sad tone:
To be continued...
