Chapter 201 Epitaph (4000)(1/2)

"There's something fishy down here!"

Wu Liang was surprised and happy, and quickly called Dian Wei to use the engineering shovel to clean up the ashes and dust at his feet.

A quarter of an hour later.

As the ashes and dust about 20 centimeters thick were cleared away, a layer of uneven metal material was finally revealed on the ground beneath their feet.

The material of this metal should be bronze, which was very common in the Spring and Autumn Period.

As for the uneven lines on it, Wu Liang squatted on the ground and carefully identified them, and finally judged that they might be characters, and they were "bronze inscriptions" fonts from the Spring and Autumn Period.

During the period when this ancient city of Qidu was built, the Zhou Dynasty still had the ability to command various princes, so the writing systems of various countries were relatively unified.

It was only during the Warring States Period that various countries began to divide and govern themselves, and fonts began to undergo various changes.

Eventually, seven different styles of writing were formed.

Later, Qin Shihuang destroyed the six kingdoms and unified the world. After a series of political measures, the characters were finally unified again, laying the foundation for the unification of Chinese characters in later generations.

That's why.

The "Bronze Inscriptions" font is much easier to read than the Seven Kingdoms characters of the Warring States Period.

However, a large part of the "History of Qi" that Wu Liang obtained from the tomb of Haihunhou was in Qi's script. This is not a problem for Wu Liang, and it is even more difficult for him who has read many ancient books.

Yu Ji, that's why Wu Liang handed over the compilation of "History of Qi" to this old boy.

I have to admit that Yu Ji is still slightly better than him in terms of ancient writing.

For many words that he needed to "guess" to identify, Yu Ji knew what they meant just by looking at them, and could even pronounce them accurately.

"Wait a minute, let me handle the rest."

After discovering these words, Wu Liang immediately stopped Dian Wei, threw the engineering shovel aside, then used a copper dagger to cut a piece of fabric from his clothes and carefully cleaned up the dust on it.

To any archaeologist, the value of this kind of cultural relic with text is far greater than the gold, jade and various treasures in the tomb.

Because this is the treasure that can truly verify and reveal history.

The cleaning work is very tedious. The dust accumulated over thousands of years has turned into hard lumps. In some places, it is even stuck to the bronze underneath. It is necessary to use a copper dagger to gently pry and chisel it away, so that it can be removed as smoothly as possible.

Remove these debris if they damage cultural relics.

However, Wu Liang has a lot of patience and does these things meticulously.

In such a season, normal people would not even want to stretch out their hands, but a layer of fine sweat had appeared on Wu Liang's forehead, and a few drops even slipped down from his temples.

"What the hell is that baby?"

Seeing Wu Liang's focused and selfless attitude, Yu Ji unconsciously approached Dian Wei and asked curiously.

"have no idea."

Dian Wei shook his head, not to mention that he really didn't know, even if he knew, he would not reveal it to anyone without Wu Liang's approval.

"It looks like a bronze vessel with words on it..."

Yu Ji stretched his neck and looked around again and said.

"He never took a second look at those gold and jade weapons, and all the gold he stole was given to Cao Mengde to supplement his military pay. On the contrary, these things with words, even if they are worthless in our eyes, are like seeing treasures in his eyes.

I generally cherish them very much.”

Bai Jingjing also said on the side.

She still clearly remembered the bamboo slips she found in the tomb of Marquis Haihun, especially the overjoyed look on Wu Liang's face when he discovered the "History of Qi". On the contrary, when he discovered the astonishing amount of gold, Wu Liang basically had no clue.

My mood fluctuated, and I just took a few glances before going directly to the next tomb.

And she also discovered while following Wu Liang in robbing the tomb.

When Wu Liang originally stole the Suihou Pearl from the tomb of Liu Qu, the king of Guangchuan, who was guarded by the Bai family, it seemed that he did not regard it as a rare treasure worthy of collection, but simply used it as a lighting tool for tomb robbing, and its function was equivalent to

More advanced torches...

So every time I see Wu Liang robbing a tomb, I use Suihou beads to illuminate it.

She, a person who follows the pearl, sincerely believes that the pearl of Suihou is not worth it. This is like someone who finally got the imperial seal but only used it to smash walnuts. Is there anything more wasteful than this?

However, she did not feel that she was not worthy of being a follower.

If she had not become a Suizhuren, she would never have been able to go to so many places in her life, see so many people and experience so many things, and experience so many things without violating the ancestral precepts... bah bah bah.

Bai Jingjing, what are you thinking about?

"When you say this, I have discovered that the young master has always regarded gold as dirt, but he enjoys these ancient books with written texts as if they are sweetmeats. He always feels that he is doing something important that is not understood by ordinary people..."

Yu Ji also pondered for a moment and said.

After half an hour of this, the bronze vessel under my feet finally took a rough shape, and I could almost read the words on it clearly.

Wu Liang stood up and took two steps back to read the words carefully:

"The epitaph of Ren Gong of the Jiang family of Qi State..."

For Wu Liang, who is accustomed to the simplified Chinese characters of later generations, although reading this kind of writing is not a big problem, it still has a slight dyslexia and must be read word by word slowly.

After all, these "inscriptions" fonts are quite different from the official script used in the Eastern Han Dynasty.

In addition, the text at this time has no punctuation marks, so you need to think about how to segment sentences when reading.

"The public taboo is Buchen, whose name is Shude.

But in the twelfth year of Ren Gong, my younger brother Jing colluded with the king of Yi who was Jihou Xian. The king of Yi was unkind and unwise, so he cooked the duke and established Jing..."

Yu Ji came over at some point, and then read Wu Liang's words without any hindrance. He read the inscriptions on the bronze plate.

While reciting it, I translated this epitaph for Wu Liang and others in today's easy-to-understand vernacular.

According to the records in "History of Qi", the Duke Ren of Qi mentioned above is Duke Ai of Qi, and Duke Ai is just his posthumous title.

When Duke Ren of Qi took office for the twelfth year, his half-brother Lu Jing colluded with the king of Ji to slander King Zhou Yi. King Zhou Yi was a violent and mediocre emperor, so he ordered people to cook Duke Ren of Qi to death, and then appointed Lu Jing as his successor.

Duke Hu of Qi.

Qi Rengong's younger brother Lu Shan and his family traveled around many times to transport Qi Rengong's body together with the cauldron used to cook him and bury him here. They drank blood wine and swore a poisonous oath in front of the tomb, vowing to kill Lu Jing to avenge Qi Rengong.

Take back the throne that was taken away, and use Lu Jing's blood to pay tribute to Duke Ren of Qi...

This is probably what this epitaph means.

Although the subsequent events are not written in the book, there are detailed records in the "History of Qi": Lu Shan finally fulfilled his oath, killed Lu Jing a few years later, and became Qi Xiangong himself, which can be regarded as a promise.

A ruthless character who must do what he does.

However, the "History of Qi" mentions that Duke Ai of Qi practiced the "skill of disgusting charm", but this epitaph does not mention this matter at all.

I don't know whether it was recorded incorrectly in "History of Qi" or whether it was deliberately not mentioned in the epitaph.

Wu Liang prefers the latter.

After all, the Celestial Empire has always valued the dead.

Even after the death of the former enemy, few people will say bad words to each other again, let alone the epitaph written by one's own family for the deceased, which naturally will not mention some things that have a negative impact.

However, if we want to get the most precise answer, we still need to look for clues from Qi Aigong's tomb.

Now the epitaph of Duke Ai of Qi has been discovered.

Then the tomb of Duke Ai of Qi should be nearby...for example, at the foot.

Wu Liang had noticed from the sound that the place below was hollow, and perhaps it was the tomb passage leading to Qi Aigong's mausoleum.

The "Yun Yang" planted here may be the anti-theft mechanism set up by later generations for Qi'ai Cemetery.

I have to admit that as an anti-theft mechanism, "Yunyang" is indeed much more advanced than the tombs that Wu Liang had stolen before. Not only can it completely seal the entrance to the tomb, but if someone comes here accidentally, they will also be "Yunyang"

"The soul was seduced, and finally it was made into fertilizer and killed.

It can even create folk rumors that this place is a dangerous place on earth. Most people would not dare to come after hearing such rumors.

Even if the time traveler Wu Liang comes.

Before seeing "Yun Yang", I was also wary of this dangerous situation.

Even now, he is not sure whether he is "possessed by the evil", let alone what will become of Yang Wanli and the soldiers who have been "possessed by the evil", even though "Yun Yang" has been completely burned by him.

After reading the epitaph in this way, Wu Liang immediately started cleaning up again.

This time he no longer cleaned the bronze object, but expanded and cleaned around to find the edge of the bronze object, trying to find its edge to judge its size and the feasibility of entering it.

"It seems that our trip this time will not be in vain."

Yu Ji was also gearing up and frothing at the mouth, "I never thought before that someone would build the palace on top of a mausoleum. You need to know that the yang house and the yin house are like the two poles of yin and yang. If they are built in the same place, they will have to

It seems that the feng shui of this place is leaning towards Yin or Yang. Either the Yang house suppresses the Yin house and cuts off the incense of the tomb owner, or the Yin house disturbs the Yang house and makes it uneasy... When I came here a few days ago, I saw that this place

The yin is strong and the yang is weak, so it’s no wonder that the new king was murdered not long after the palace was built, and this place has since become a dangerous place where no one dares to live.”
