Chapter 168, The Thousand-Year Road in the World

168 chapters, the vast ocean of the world, the beautiful country and the journey of thousands of miles

After leaving Haozhou, we head northwest, and before passing Zhongnan Mountain, we pass through Shannan Road at the foot of the mountain range, passing through An, Liang and Qin prefectures into the Loess Plateau. The landform here is very different from that in the Jiangnan area, with flat slopes and mountains intersecting, and huge gullies distributed across the streets. The houses that local people live in are mostly made of mud embryos as walls, which is the oldest method of building boards, and people dig caves on steep soil slopes.

Before the carriage and horses crossed the Yellow River, they turned southwest and entered the Tuyuhun territory. The terrain gradually grew higher and there were endless mountains along the way. Steep red sandstone walls were visible in many places where they passed by, with holes of all sizes distributed on them. Occasionally, the clouds that floated by seemed very low, often blocking the top of the mountain. Sometimes the carriages even walked through the clouds.

Princess Yuzhen, Gu'er, Sui'er and others have ever been to this kind of place. They pointed to the holes in the mountain wall and asked Mei Zhenyi what was there? Mei Zhenyi smiled and said it was the eagle's nest. Yuzhen didn't believe it, but in a blink of an eye he saw an eagle flying from a distance and landed on the cliff and drilled into the hole. Even Mei Zhenyi was shocked himself, and Mei Yi smiled and said that it was the sea holly.

Mei Zhenyi also traveled thousands of miles with Zuoyouxian. After leaving Pengze, she was taken to the northern desert grassland by Zuoyouxianfei. Now many of the encounters along the way are unprecedented in his lifetime.

From the Loess Plateau and heading southwest, you are walking the route of Princess Wencheng entering Tubo. After passing through the Sun and Moon Pass, it suddenly became clear in front of you. There were endless grasslands. Looking at the horizon, there were only rolling and steep mountains on the horizon. Mei Zhenyi knew that she had entered the range of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau at this time, but she did not expect that Sun and Moon Mountain would be like this.

The road they took was on the left, with the intermittent peaks like ingots, chairs, tigers and leopards, reclining Buddhas, pen holders, all kinds of strange but extremely majestic. On the right was the prairie, and the endless grass was about two feet long. It was like a huge carpet spread out very neatly. It was already early summer, and the grassland was dotted with various flowers, red, blue, pink, purple, yellow, and the flowers were not big. Some were close to the ground and could only be seen near, and some were more than one person high and looked at the beautiful clump, just like embroidery decorated on the straw carpet.

There are rare human traces on the plateau. You can often see herders' tents far away. Cattle and sheep are scattered around. Occasionally, wild birds and beasts can be seen. At the foot of a mountain, they even saw a few pure white yaks, with long white hairs as clouds as snow, curved and beautiful horns, double eyelids and pink eyes. They stood by the road and watched the carriages and horses pass by without avoiding people.

"So beautiful!" Zhiyan, Li Lan, Yu Zhen, Master Xingyun and other women clapped their hands and exclaimed when they saw the white yak. People were watching the yaks, and the yaks also stared at the group of people passing by with curious eyes.

There is no need to say much about the scenery. When you walk here, you feel that your chest is open and relaxed. But it is not entirely wonderful. Others have nothing to do. The pair of maids Lu Hong and Lu Cui who took away at Shuangfengji felt uncomfortable before they arrived at Riyueshan Pass, and they felt tightness, shortness of breath and headaches.

This symptom is a typical altitude sickness in the present. The speed of the carriage and horse on the plateau is not fast but it is not slow. It is normal for people with ordinary physique to have this reaction. Not to mention these two maids, even the four horses pulling the carriage exhaled their breath much slower than before.

Among the group were two famous doctors of the world. Mei Zhenyi picked herbs in the mountains and fields she passed by. After passing Sun and Moon Mountain, she searched for a few flowers and plants in the grassland and refined dozens of red pills. After these two people took it, they would naturally be healthy every day.

Seeing that the two maids became lively after taking the medicine, Yu Zhen asked Mei Zhenyi: "What kind of spiritual medicine are you practicing? I have also felt a little weak these days. Can you please take a few of them?"

Mei Zhenyi smiled and said, "This medicine has no name. It is my right symptom. Its effect is nothing more than replenishing blood and enhancing qi. You don't need it. Three years ago, I taught you the technique of fasting and eating qi, and I gave you another box of yellow bud pills. One pill every twelve days shouldn't be used up yet, right? Although you haven't practiced magical powers, it also has the effect of maintaining the face. You have almost no discomfort on the plateau this time, it's effective."

Qu Zhensheng also laughed and said, "The blood-replenishing and Qi-enhancing pill that Junior Brother Mei is a powerful medicine for the right symptoms. Lu Hong and Lu Cui do not accept the local water and land customs, so it is just right to use this medicine. However, it is not something that asymptomatic people can take it randomly anytime and anywhere."

When Qu Zhensheng saw Mei Zhenyi refining medicine, he was not idle either. He collected herbs along the way with Li Lan and refined a red powder. The man had already asked Mei Zhenyi to treat it, so he fed the powder to horses. Zhang Guo and others laughed and called him Qu Da Veterinarian.

Along the way, they not only refined one pill and scattered, but also made a rare opportunity to walk thousands of miles of mountains and rivers. Mei Zhenyi, Qu Zhensheng, and Li Lan were all collecting spiritual medicines along the way. The spiritual medicines in the world were not just the 365 kinds required for the Nine-Turn Purple Golden Pill. Qu Zhensheng also brought a small medicine cauldron with him, and simply refined, collected and preserved the spiritual medicines he collected. Many of them were not available in ordinary medicinal materials shops or were difficult to see.

Qingfeng also came in handy for Zhiyan's gourd. Mei Zhenyi collected a lot of spiritual medicine seedlings and preserved them. After returning, she could drill and build a suitable place for ground qi in Qingyi Mountains.

When it comes to the way of refining medicine, few people can surpass Mei Zhenyi today, but Li Lan specializes in the medicine field in the Tailao Lingjing of Donghuamen. Speaking of collecting herbs in the mountains and fields, she is much more familiar with herbs than Mei Zhenyi. She helped Qu Zhensheng and Mei Zhenyi compete to collect herbs, but found that she always lost. Mei Zhenyi always finds medicine to collect herbs faster and better, which is also very strange.

Later, Zhiyan exposes Mei Zhenyi's background - he has the help of the magic weapon, the pointer needle, and the earth energy is good at finding the earth energy. Qu Zhensheng wants to borrow the pointer needle, but after Mingyue's refining, the magic power and spiritual consciousness required when using it is too high. He can't use it for the time being, so he can only wait until his cultivation reaches its level in the future.

Zhongli Quan kept guiding his disciples along the way, explaining the various ways of worldly practice, and taking advantage of various opportunities. For example, through refining medicine, he mentioned the inheritance of various sects of worldly practice, and the external alchemy and bait medicine technique assisted internal cultivation and qi cultivation practice. It has developed to the extreme by Sun Simiao's hands. Danxia Sect is good at this path to assist them in inheriting the cliff wall Danxia technique, which is the largest sect in the world.

Zhongli Quan inherited the Golden Pill Avenue and specialized in practicing the inner alchemy furnace and cauldron. He occasionally used bait medicine, but it was another school of practice. When Emperor Donghua taught the Golden Pill Avenue of Zhongli Quan, there were only a few simple scriptures of the mental method, but Zhongli Quan combined his own experience in practicing and became a complete "Nine-Turn Golden Pill Direct" when he was passed on to the disciples of Donghuamen.

The great achievements of Taoist inner alchemy in the world should be said to have started with Zhongli Quan. It is not that before Zhongli Quan, the Taoist practitioners did not cultivate the spirit of the furnace and cauldron, but Zhongli Quan organized this Taoist practice into a complete sect inheritance system, and it is more convenient to verify and refer to the master and disciple when passing on the Dharma. Moreover, with this system as the foundation, even if the disciples in the next few generations did not have Zhongli Quan's achievements, the inheritance of Taoism would not wither wither with others.

Mei Zhenyi is both Sun Simiao's disciple and Zhongli Quan's disciple. Zhongli Quan hopes that he can become a pioneer in the inheritance of Taoism in the future. - This is the first time that Mr. Donghua has put forward his own expectations for his disciples in certain aspects.

In addition to Mei Zhenyi, other people along the way asked Zhongli Quan for various questions in his practice, and Mr. Donghua also gave tips based on his own understanding. This is different from the teaching of the disciples. Zhongli Quan will not take the initiative to teach any mental methods, but he can answer some questions and let everyone confirm them themselves. With the guidance of immortals, Zhang Guo, Mei Yi and others will naturally gain great results.

In short, this journey of thousands of miles not only allows you to appreciate the styles of various places, collect spiritual medicines from all over the world, experience various interesting anecdotes, but also hear the guidance of the magical methods of immortals. After entering the plateau, Zhang Guo sighed: "The ancients said that 'Walking a thousand miles and reading thousands of books' is really not a fool!"

Mei Yi said in the back: "If I were to walk thousands of miles, I have also walked many times. But it was all marching and fighting, and it was not as interesting as the journey of thousands of miles today."

Master Xingyun also asked: "Fairy Zhiyan, it's a pity that you can come up with such a clever way to travel here. I really have no regrets about this life."

Zhang Guo quickly interrupted, "Why do you have to say that you have no regrets? If you like the fun of traveling, there will be opportunities for you in the future, and I am happy to drive for you."

Fairy Zhiyan replied: "I have been practicing in Kunlun Fairyland for a hundred years. When I came to the world to meet Zhenyi, I appreciated many unknown wonders in the world, so I have this suggestion."

Mei Zhenyi smiled and said, "Emperor practice and traveling have their own wonders. All the wonderful realms of magical methods need to be obtained in the state of concentration, but there are also many things in the world that cannot be appreciated by sitting in a vain, even including supernatural powers and magical methods. The Shennong Hundred Grass Whip Technique in my place is to realize it yourself when you are threatened by Zuoyouxian. If I had not had that experience, I would not have thought of it at home."

Zhongli Quan gave him a fan and said, "You little brat, don't be too proud. If it weren't for Sun Simiao's teachings, and the God Whip I refined for you, you'd be caught ten thousand times and you'd be able to escape the world. There would be nothing wrong with Shennong's Hundred Grass Whip!"

Everyone walked with a laugh and a smile, and a river appeared in front of them. The rivers in the plateau meadows were very different from those seen in the Central Plains. There were no river embankments, and the riverbed was dozens of feet wide. Many places were exposed to the water surface and there were miscellaneous trees and wild flowers growing. The river water was very shallow and would be over the horse's hooves, and the deepest part was just knee-free.

The locals call this river Daotang River. The reason why it has such a strange name is that on the one hand it flows into West Haiti from east to west, which is opposite to most of the rivers here that flow down the plateau from west to east. On the other hand, the terrain of this area is high in the west and low in the east, and the west of the Daotang River Valley is slightly lower. From a distance, there is an illusion that the river water flows backwards.

After crossing the Daotang River and walking not far along the valley, there is the vast West Sea.

In ancient times, the West Sea was wider than the modern Qinghai Lake. It was a saltwater lake located in the inland plateau. However, the saltiness of the lake was much lighter than the sea water. In the Tang Dynasty, it was lighter and could be used for birds and animals to drink. Especially on the shore where rivers converge, it was also a place where various animals in the grassland often drank water.

The West Sea is even larger than some small prefectures and counties in the Central Plains, so it is called the sea. The climate of the plateau is unpredictable, and it is often windy and stormy. There is no horizon in such a large lake because it is surrounded by plateau mountains. Local herders have never eaten fish since ancient times, so there are no fishermen in this big lake. A specialty of the lake is Huangyu, also known as naked carp, with only a few thin scales around the body near the pectoral fins.

To describe mountain and lake scenery, people often use the four words "lake and mountain scenery". However, what is the real lake and mountain scenery? It is the most experiencing to take a look at the west coast.

The color of the water surface of the West Sea will change at any time, sometimes blue, sometimes blue, sometimes dark, sometimes bright and sometimes dark, light and sometimes like mirrors reflecting mountains, and dark and like jade condensing. The water color changes with the sky and clear weather, and the reflections of the mountains in the distance also change in the lake, the left and right in the lake, and the morning and evening are different between a day.

Mei Zhenyi and others set out from Wuzhou and walked to the west coast for a total of three months. It was time to break up. Mei Zhenyi and Zhiyan would fly to Kunlun Fairyland with Zhongli Quan. Zhang Guo and Mei Yi took everyone back to Wuzhou. When they were leaving, they naturally refused to let go. Mei Zhenyi decided to stay on the west coast to enjoy the three days of lakes and mountains before breaking up.

Mei Yi set up two large marching tents by the lake. Lu Hong and Lu Cui helped to take out the sleeping and dining utensils in the carriage and place them. A bonfire was lit in front of the tent. They rested that night, watched the sunrise in the West Sea together the next morning, took out the food and fruits of the carriage, and drank by the lake. They picked some wild flowers and fruits and had fun.

The next day, Mei Zhenyi taught Princess Yuzhen to ride a horse by the lake. The advantage of this place is that her vision is wide and she can run happily. There are so many masters who are not afraid of falling down when they see it. Yuzhen was riding a horse, and suddenly there was a low sound like rolling thunder in the distance. Although it was very weak, all the masters heard it.

Mei Zhenyi shouted, "Yuzhen, come back soon!"

Mei Yi frowned and said, "This is the sound of horses running by the ground. It must be the wild horses on the grassland."

Master Hsing Yun asked: "This grassland is different from the one outside the northern border of the desert. What kind of horse does it produce?"

Mei Yi: "The horses in this property are called Qinghai Cong. They are not as big as horses in the Western Regions, but they are good at long-distance raids, and are often used in the army to pursue light cavalry."

Not long after, a large group of horses ran away. As Mei Yi said, it was not as tall as the kind used in the ceremonial guards, but the running posture was quite elegant. There were thousands of horses. They ran over the grassland, but they did not come to the tents of Mei Zhenyi and others, but went to the lakeside not far from the mouth of the Daotang River to drink water.

Mei Yi pointed to the horses and introduced some experiences in the army to the public: This group of horses should be wild horses on the grassland, and they were caught by herders and ropes and can be tamed and raised. They often traded between this place and the Han area, and used the tamed Qinghai trial to exchange for the iron tools, tea cakes, salt, etc. they needed. Finally, he said: "This kind of horse is not easy to ride without being tamed. Look, it runs very smoothly. It often pushes the rider down."

Zhang Guo smiled from the side and said, "With General Mei's riding skills, what horse can't deal with? After hearing what you said, I want to get a Qinghai Camp to ride." As soon as he said this, his face suddenly changed, "There is such a dangerous demonic aura in the lake!"

At this time, Zhong Liquan waved his fairy fan and cast a spell to cover everyone's foothold and two large tents. He shouted loudly: "There are monsters in the lake, protect the princess and others!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a sharp and gloomy wind rolled up from the lake, and wild grass flew around. If Zhongli Quan had not cast a spell, even two big tents would have been blown down. The wind was so weird and dangerous. Mei Zhenyi brought the four horses to the ground, making a long neigh like a wail, and involuntarily retreated and their front hooves were soft and they knelt down.

Yin Feng was heading towards the horse clan. Mei Zhenyi and others were only affected by the remaining momentum. The front of the sharpness was imaginable. The horse clan was frightened, and hen in unison and turned around and ran away. Mei Zhenyi and others had superb cultivation, although they were not afraid of ordinary monsters, they were secretly shocked when they saw this scene.

At this moment, the water on the shore suddenly retreated, revealing more than ten feet of wet mud. Then a huge whirlpool appeared in the distance, and a wall of water surged toward the shore. A horse was pounced on by the waves without time to run away. Then it seemed like it was bitten by something, struggling and neighing on the waves, and it disappeared in a blink of an eye!

"What is in the water?" Mei Zhenyi asked.

Zhongli Quan squinted his eyes and said, "It should be that a certain huangyu has become a climate, which is a very ferocious alien, different from ordinary monsters."

The huge waves swept away a horse and it was not finished. This strange ground wave could still rush ashore, like a long waterline, which swept two terrifying horses running around one after another. At this time, a loud horse neighed, and a tallest stallion stood on a distant high slope. The terrifying horses running around moved closer to it. It should be the leader of the group of horses.
