Chapter 567 What kind of talent
So, these candidates who passed the exam were quite crazy.
In fact, the "Wenxi Banquet" was a private party held by the candidates who failed the exam, but it was nothing more than complaining that the test questions were perverted and the examiners were biased. Historical records: "The banquet was simpler than the curtain of the sky and the earth", which had nothing to do with celebration and thanks.
Later, fewer and fewer gatherings for candidates who failed the exam, but more and more new Jinshi held banquets, which even became a custom. Because of the beautiful scenery of Qujiang Garden, the large number of tourists became the best choice for banquet venues.
Although the "Wenxi Banquet" is held in the national park of the capital, it is still a private event in the end, including organizing personnel, and the funding source is all from the private. The preparatory agency for the banquet is a private commercial institution called the "Team Division", which is the "Jinshi Group", which is specifically responsible for organizing banquets and collecting "the treasures of water and land within the world".
The preparations for the banquet started after the new Jinshi had visited the examiner of the examination. First, the League department rented a house near the examiner's house. After all the new Jinshi gathered, a "record" was selected, which was generally the top scholar of that year. In addition, the main banquet, wine, music, tea and tanhua were also recommended. The "Tanhua" here was not a role model for the third place in the first place later. I will introduce it here.
Since it is a private party, how can the funds for the banquet be paid? In fact, it is a "aa system". The new Jinshi will contribute their own money, but the amount of money will be agreed upon by themselves. Not everyone will pay the same amount. However, as the banquet becomes more and more grand, the funds will be needed, so everyone has to bear a lot of money. Some Jinshi with average family conditions will even borrow externally for this.
On the day of the banquet, there were crowds in Chang'an City, and even the royal relatives also attended the carriage, horses, and clothes.
Sometimes the emperor would bring his concubines to the venue and climb the "Ziyun Tower" in Chinan to watch the grand occasion.
Temporary shops built in the park will also be lined up by the river, with tourists bustling. There will be singing and dancing performances at the banquet, and popular artists will compete to appear, and the princes and nobles in the capital will also take this opportunity to choose a son-in-law from the new Jinshi.
Of course, the protagonist of the banquet was the new Jinshi. They were majestic, full of spring breeze, and were in the limelight.
In addition to thanking the examiner, we also sing and chatting, make new friends, and traveling together to see the scenery of the lake and mountains. One of the important links is "Tanhua in the Garden", which means that the two Tanhuamen selected above visited the garden, took famous flowers and picked the best branches for everyone to appreciate, and then started drinking fine wine and tasting delicious food.
Next is "The title of the Yan Pagoda". The new Jinshi went to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Ci'en Temple to write their names. Inspired by the inspiration, they also had to write a few short poems. After Bai Juyi became a Jinshi, he wrote a poem at Ci'en Temple: The place where the title of the Ci'en Tower was written was the youngest among the seventeen people. The joy and complacent feelings were beyond words.
Of course, there are many poems in Tang poetry that describe the grand occasion of the "Wenhe Banquet". The most famous one is Meng Jiao's poem "After the End of the Certificate": The filthiness in the past is not worth praising, but today I am boasting about the endless thoughts. The spring breeze is so proud that the horse's hooves are fast, and I can see all the flowers in Chang'an in one day.
There is also Liu Cang's "Feast of Qujiang after the Year": "The New Year is selected and the first banquet of Qujiang in the Apricot Garden is the beginning of the banquet. The purple hair and pink walls are written on the immortal book, the willow flute sounds blowing on the Imperial Tower. The clear scenery is bright and the distant shore, and the green mountains fall into the fragrant island in the evening. When you return, you are drunk between the flowers, and the fragrant carriage is like water flowing."
There is Qin Taoyu's "Qujiang": "The deep pond of Quzhu leaps into the brocade scales, and the green waves in the path of locust smoke are new. There is no good place in this state, and spring should not be spring in other places. The true immortal of the Golden List opens a music mat, and the young master of silver saddle is drunk on the dust of flowers. Let's look at it again in February next year, so we can share the east wind as the master."
These people and things can very well reflect how attractive the imperial examinations of the Tang Dynasty were to people.
Because in that era, it was a truly inferior era and high school student. If you want to be successful, you have to study hard and pass the Jinshi, and you will basically be able to fly in your life.
In fact, Li Ning still agrees with this situation very much. No matter what era it is, you must have such a fair place, right?
Even in the Tang Dynasty, such fairness is only relative. The difficulty of the national examination is self-evident, so for the children of the royal family and senior officials, another method of imperial examinations came out.
This method is the Hongwenguan and Chongwenguan examination. Hongwenguan is a school directly under the jurisdiction of the province; Chongwenguan is a school run by the Prince's Mansion. The number of students in these two schools is very small, each with twenty or thirty people. They are close relatives of the royal family, children of important ministers of the court, and orphans of martyrs with outstanding meritorious achievements. Needless to say, their teaching power is required. The court gave these two schools the privilege of holding the imperial examination separately. Those who pass the pass will be granted the qualifications of Jinshi and Mingjing.
In other words, the exams in these two places are equivalent to a place in later generations. Not only is the teaching quality very guaranteed, but the score line is also very low. If you have a little ability, you basically don’t have to study with the one who hangs his head and pricks his thighs.
But there are also some children from relatively strong royal families and officials who think they are OK and disdain to take such exams.
In order to keep their heads up and behave in the officialdom for the rest of their lives, they all went to take the national unified examination.
For example, when Yang Guozhong was prime minister, his son did not dare to get into the Jinshi exam, so he went to the Yingmingjing exam. After the exam, he knew that there was no chance, so he asked Yang Guozhong to go to the back door.
There are actually many such children in the future. When I was young, I always felt that I could break out my own world without relying on my parents. I only realized that my parents were still awesome after being touched.
When they truly embark on a high-ranking and generous life arranged by their parents for themselves, they will express their sincere feelings: It’s so fragrant!
Therefore, this process has been repeated over the past thousand years of Chinese history, and it is still the case until the later generations where Li Yong was.
In fact, it is quite appropriate to put it in the words of an old man in his seventies from the era where Li came from: this may be life!
Despite this, the system of this era is still very sound in Li Qing's opinion, especially in such a prosperous era.
There were about 18,000 officials in the Tang Dynasty, but this included all civil officials, military officers, and inner court officials. Among them, military officers accounted for a large proportion.
The Tang Dynasty had about 600 military prefectures, each with six officials, which was 3,600. In addition, there were also many officers in permanent troops such as the guards and frontlines.
