Chapter 2 Dragon Subduing Arhat and Fox Demon (1)

There is a story circulating here, a story that is well-known to everyone.

Legend has it that there was a demon named Marun in ancient India. He incited the people of Najib to kill monks and kidnap all Buddhist scriptures to Najib. The Dragon King flooded Najib and hid the Buddhist scriptures in the Dragon Palace. Later, the Buddha sat down and Venerable Qingyou subdued the Dragon King to retrieve the Buddhist scriptures and made great contributions, so he was respected by the world as a "Dragon Subduing Arhat".

The Eighteen Arhats are disciples of Shakyamuni. The Buddhist scriptures say that they have been instructed by the Buddha to not enter Nirvana, and will live in the world forever, and receive offerings from the world to make blessings for sentient beings.

The Dragon Subduing Arhat had boundless magic power, and helped the Buddha subduing dragons and demons, and made many amazing achievements. However, after practicing for hundreds of years, he still could not achieve the right result. So he came to ask Master Guanyin to help him save a silver fox hundreds of years ago. After the Silver Fox was saved, he bit off a Buddhist bead on the body of the Dragon Subduing Venerable. Five hundred years later, the Silver Fox became a spirit and did evil in the mortal world. This was because of the Dragon Subduing Rescue's rescue, which had not yet ended in the seven-generation world. So the Dragon Subduing Rescue was guided by Guanyin and was reincarnated in the Li family, a family of officials from Yongning Village, Tiantai, who had been in charge of the world for generations, wanted to settle the world.

1148 AD

In the Li family of the generation of officials in Yongning Town, Yongtiantai County, Li Maochun still had no children when he was nearly 40 years old. He worshipped Buddha and burned incense all year round. Finally, his wife Wang gave birth to a son and was named Xiuyuan by the abbot of Guoqing Temple.

The moment the child landed, there were eyes in the Li family's courtyard, until Xiuyuan grew from a squeaky little baby who couldn't speak to a young man. There were always eyes looking at him all the time.

Even Xiuyuan himself became more and more aware that there was always someone who was watching him every move in secret. It was a blazing look, as if there was a ball of fire, and he couldn't tell what the intention was, but he just looked at him so straight.

For example, Xiuyuan was studying at night and put up a window. His eyes flashed and fled from the window. Xiuyuan realized that something was wrong and stood up and stretched out the bamboo window. He looked outside, "Who is there?" It was pitch black all over and no one answered.

The eyes changed into another place and continued to look at him. Xiuyuan thought to himself was an illusion? It was just that this illusion had existed since he could remember.

During the day, Xiuyuan went to school to study. On the way, a cart was pushed by the side with a cart full of wet grass. The cart was unstable and the handlebars in his hand shaking. Seeing that the cart was about to fall down and hit Xiuyuan, who was still tender in his body, Xiuyuan didn't react there, and a gust of wind pushed him away. When he realized that the man had been away from the already overturned cart, standing safely and 1 meter away.

There are many such things. As Xiuyuan grew up, he felt more and more clearly that there was no hostility in his eyes. Even though it was as hot as a ball of fire, it was not about burning him.

When Xiuyuan was fourteen years old, his father Li Maochun took Xiuyuan to Guoqing Temple to worship Buddha. The Li family has been accustomed to Buddhism for generations, and Xiuyuan has been very influenced since childhood. Li Maochun told Xiuyuan that his name was given by the abbot of the Guoqing Temple.

Xiuyuan came to the temple and listened to the masters and monks chanting sutras and Buddha's name. He sat quietly beside him and felt a sense of peace that he had never felt before. This Sanskrit Holy Land seemed to have been born before, and he was immersed in it.

When Li Maochun saw that his son had a lot of Buddhist fortune, he took him to see the abbot. The pleasing Xiuyuan saw the abbot saluting. The abbot looked at him, and Cihe's eyes immediately turned strange. He said a few words to Maochun, and Maochun asked Xiuyuan to go out and wait.

Xiuyuan walked out, and the abbot's backyard was full of sandalwood. He found a place to sit down and held his chin. His eyes still had not left along the way, but he just entered the temple and disappeared.

Xiu Yuanzheng felt strange. He stood up and looked around and there was no feeling of being watched by others anymore.

The abbot and Maochun were also avoiding Xiu Yuan and talking about the strange phenomenon in the house. The abbot stroked his beard, "There is a sense of righteousness between Xiu Yuan's eyebrows and eyes, and the Buddha's roots are deep, and the birth date is like this. It must be the reincarnation of a Buddha immortal."

Li Maochun was overjoyed when he heard this, "Master, my son has a delicate bone and has been sick since childhood. I'm afraid he will find it difficult for him to grow up?"

The abbot smiled, "The life of Xiuyuan is not short, but--" The abbot raised his voice, which made Maochun's heart raise his throat.

"Just what?"

"Xiuyuan's body is full of demonic energy."

Maochun was shocked, "How could there be evil spirit?" He recalled that Xiuyuan would tell him about his eyes, and a chill broke out behind him, "Master, will Xiuyuan be entangled by something?" Then he told the abbot what his son said to him.

The abbot glanced at him and said, "No wonder, but this demon is not an immortal, and he has profound practice. I am afraid that ordinary practices cannot be subdued."

Maochun was startled and sweated, "How is this good? I am just this child, and the master must help him."

The abbot got up and walked into the inner room, and soon took out a square sandalwood plate with two objects on it.

Li Maochun took the Tanpan and looked carefully. The two objects were a string of Buddhist beads and a long whip.

The abbot gave Maochun, "These two Buddha objects are sacred objects of exorcism and demon submission. You cannot give them to him now, because your mind is not mature in cultivation. After he is sixteen years old, if his body becomes strong and his mind is mature, give him these two objects."

Li Maochun took the artifact and thanked him repeatedly. Before leaving, the abbot repeatedly instructed, "Remember, these two years have been the key to cultivating the world and becoming an immortal and demon. Be optimistic about him. If you encounter Cultivating the world seriously ill, you will be snatched by the monster. You must hang the Buddhist beads on the east end and aim them at Xiuyuan's bed."

Li Maochun carefully held the treasure in his bag, and carefully thanked him out. Seeing that he was sitting outside the door waiting for his son, Xiuyuan smiled at his father. Maochun couldn't help but burst into tears when he cried. He hugged his son tightly and hugged him into his arms.

After rushing home overnight, Xiuyuan and his father were walking on a deserted road. Since it was too late to go to Guoqing Temple, they could not find a suitable inn in the town. After being guided by someone, they had to stay in a relatively remote inn at the foot of the mountain.

It was already midnight when Li Maochun took his son to the place. He slapped the door and called the shop owner. The yawning shop owner got up and opened the door. Seeing the father and son who were in a mess outside the door because of the rush, Maochun pulled his son in without waiting for the shop owner to speak, "Shop owner, a clean room."

The store owner looked up and down to look at the two people, but they saw that they were embarrassed and wanted to expel them, "Where is there any clean room at this time?"

Seeing that there were not a few horses tidying up the stable outside the door, Li Maochun knew that the store must be perfunctory, so he reached out to take out a silver ingot from his sleeve and flashed in front of the store, "Do you think this is a convenient way to clean up a room now?"

When the shop saw the silver ingot, he raised the candle and looked carefully. He couldn't believe that there would be such generous customers in the middle of the night. "Some, some, I'll pack it up now."

Xiuyuan looked at his father, Maochun dusted the soil on his son's shoulders, "Let's just leave for a night, and Dad will take you home tomorrow."

Xiuyuan nodded sensiblely. As he came in, the shop owner wanted to lead the way, and turned around and greeted him repeatedly, "Please pay attention to your feet objectively, don't fall and touch the road." It doesn't matter this time. When he looked, the faint light from the moonlight shone in, which clearly reflected the shadow of three people. The shop owner shivered and couldn't help but rub his eyes and looked hard.

Maochun frowned, "What's wrong? Don't you lead the way?"

"It's okay," the store owner tried hard to help but felt that it might have been an illusion just now. The extra shadow was gone, and it was obviously two people standing there. "Customer comes with me."

Xiuyuan followed his father to a room upstairs with the shop. The room was not big and there was a window where you could see the bright moon.

"Please make some hot water from the store." Maochun put down his burden and helped Xiuyuan take off his coat.

"Okay, OK," the store agreed to withdraw.

After a while, the store brought in a pot of hot water, holding a plate of steamed buns and cooked meat. "The customer has been rushing for so long, so I must be hungry. Let's have some food to eat. It's hot and warm up." As he said that, he put the water and food on the table. Xiuyuan was hungry and saw the food, he felt very comforted, but the store smiled and watched the father and son not go out.

Maochun looked behind him, "Is there anything else to do with the store? Just put down the food, we're going to rest."

"Yes, yes," the owner was reminded to leave. "Then the customer eat while it's hot, and then take a break soon."

When the store exited, Xiuyuan walked over and picked up the steamed buns and wanted to eat them. A female voice suddenly spoke in her ear, "Don't eat Xiuyuan."

Xiuyuan was shocked, put down the steamed buns and looked around. There was no one else, only his father was washing his face with hot water.

But he really heard the voice of a woman, right in his ear.

My father washed his face and came over, "Why don't you eat? Is the food cold?" He said, picking up a steamed bun to eat.

"Father," Xiu Yuanyi held his father's hand, "can't eat it."

Maochun was stunned. Xiuyuan didn't know what he was doing. He believed in the voice so firmly. What the voice wanted to tell him was that the food was poisonous, "Father, this is a black shop."

Maochun was puzzled, "How did you know?"

"There are not many rooms along the way, so I guess there are no ones here to stay, but my friend's brocade and cloth shoes are not cheap."

Maochun rolled his eyes and felt it made sense, "Child, what you said is right, I just think the store looks wrong. You are so careful."

"It's nothing. My aunt ordered a pair of shoes for me two years ago. The sun and moon embroidered with golden silk on the brocade surface are not something that ordinary people can afford. I put them up and couldn't bear to wear them."

Maochun and Xiuyuan sat on the bed, "No matter whether it is a black shop or not, we must be careful that we can't sleep at night."

Xiu Yuankuan lowered his hairband, "It's nothing? My father just fell asleep, but his son just looked at him."

Maochun couldn't help but smile happily when he looked at his son, "You are not in good health and are thin. Just sleep and just keep the door of the house tightly guarding for your father."

"Let's not refuse," Xiuyuan locked the door and sat back. "It's settled. You sleep. I'll stare. Do my father bring any self-defense weapons?"

Maochun was stunned, "This, this is not prepared."

"It's okay," Xiuyuan picked up the candlestick and put it in his hand to weigh it, "It's it."

So Maochun, who had been tired for a day, snored loudly after lying down for a while. Xiuyuan looked at his father. His father was kind by nature, but he was not harmless or guarded against others.

Xiuyuan was not allowed to sit in front of the window for a moment. By the night, the quiet night with crescent moon in the sky became quieter. Xiuyuan's sleepiness came, and his eyelids began to fight unconsciously, and his head was about to hang down little by little.

Outside the window, the eyes were as bright as the stars in the night. When it looked at Xiuyuan, there was a treading sound outside the door. Someone slowly went upstairs. The shopkeeper and the guy holding sharp knives guessed that the father and son who had taken the sweat medicine must have been asleep, so they decided to take action. The two walked up in the dark and came to the door.

"You open the door," the store told the man.

"It's me again," hesitated, and the two wanted to let each other go, and suddenly noticed that there was a woman in white standing beside her. She was tall and slender. The two screamed in surprise, "Ah—"

Then he covered his mouth again, "You, you, are you a human or a ghost?"

The shopkeeper hid behind the guy and did not dare to look at the woman. With the moonlight, he could see the woman's fair and delicate face, a pair of water-cleared eyes, cherry lips, and the corners of his mouth were always gently raised, as beautiful as a fairy.

"Is it a human or a ghost? What do you think?" The woman almost floated in front of the two of them and approached their faces. A demonic aura that a woman on earth could never have revolved around two people with evil thoughts.

The two of them were so scared that they were in panic that they rolled down the stairs, and quickly got up and ran out. When they ran out, they looked up and found that the woman in white was standing in front of them, leaning sideways, playing with her hair, and a charming smile on her lips, and her eyes emitted a strange light at night. Her white clothes all over her body exuded a strong demonic aura at night.

"Ah--" The two of them hugged each other in fear, trembling with their eyes closed, "Immortal, please spare me, the little one will never dare to do it again."

The woman in white came to them in a blink of an eye, "Immortal, haha, do I look like me?"

The charming smile on the corner of his mouth instantly became bigger, so big that it occupied half of his face. His blood-red mouth showed sharp teeth, and the bright eyes in the darkness turned into pure green. "Call me a fox demon - but, you have no chance."
