Chapter 55: Vengeance for a Sadness
Lang Ri was stunned, holding Haoyue's broken arm in his hand. Haoyue looked straight at him, and his body fell. Lang Ri would never forget the last look she looked at her. Although she was still the sea-blue eyes, she looked so strange that he was so unfamiliar with his eyes full of hostility and resentment.
"Haoyue!" The towering cliff finally submerged the two people who had fallen down. Langri shouted at the cliff, and the echo of Langri's shrill screams came from the empty cliff.
Lang Ri stayed there, and in front of him was Haoyue's most beautiful face, and Haoyue and her memories floated by in front of him.
"Senior brother, if there is a next life, I want to be an eagle and truly fly." Haoyue raised her head and squinted her beautiful sea blue eyes beside Lang Ri.
"Senior Brother, you promised me that I must become strong." Haoyue raised her head around his waist and looked at him eagerly like a child.
He rode his horse and heard the sound of Haoyue's flute. He turned around and watched her chase after her reluctantly. Until it got farther and farther, Haoyue had become very small and could still hear the melodious sound of the flute. She stood at a high place and waved to him, with the flute in her hand.
Lang Ri felt dizzy, tears blurred his eyes, and Haoyue disappeared in the lone cliff. She left so resolutely without looking back, and would rather break her arm than save her.
Langri got up with tears in her eyes and pointed at the hazy sky, smiling to the sky, "Oh my God! Do you have eyes? Why do you treat Haoyue like this? Why do you treat me like this!"
The echo was still wandering on the cliff. Lang Ri roared a long roar, and the blood surged in his chest. He felt blood coming from his throat. Lang Ri squirted out blood in one mouthful, and his body slowly fell backwards. When his body fell until it hit the ground, Lang Ri clearly saw Haoyue in a red dress and wedding dress spinning in front of him. She held a golden hairpin and looked at the cicada's head. The dazzling array of accessories, the beautiful and charming red lips outlined a happy smile. She asked him, "Senior Brother, am I beautiful?"
When Lang Ri's eyes were talking about this, tears filled up again, and the rooster was about to be dawn. Xiu Yuan sighed and lowered his head, putting his hand on Lang Ri's hand.
"Haoyue is really a strong woman, she would rather choose to commit suicide."
"She hated me so deeply." Langri smiled bitterly, "No wonder, I saw with my own eyes that I killed the person she was closest to, how could she not hate me?"
"I think Haoyue also wants to choose to die and die with Ge Li, because living is more painful and remembrance for her, and it is better to die."
"She wanted to end her life. I could tell from her eyes that I snatched her knife." Lang Ri said of the time in the cave.
"But she threw the wolf-slaying sword to you."
"Yes, I know she doesn't want the sword to fall into the hands of the wolf demon, and I won't let the sword fall into the hands of the wolf demon."
"How can I make sure that Haoyue is not dead?"
Langri closed her eyes and breathed a sigh of relief, "Can you imagine that I was close to the brink of collapse and I fainted."
Lang Ri continued, he didn't know when he woke up. The sky was so gloomy that he couldn't see the sun, and there was no direction. He got up, and the wolf-slaying sword was still poking there. There was a pool of blood on the ground, which was Haoyue's. He picked up Haoyue's broken arm and hugged it in his arms. His arm was stiff, his snow-white fingers curled up, and he kept Haoyue's last gesture. He looked at the half of his arm with distress, and then buried his arm at the edge of the cliff.
Langri dug a hole and put his arm in. He looked at it for the last time, just like looking at Haoyue. He closed his arms and buried his arms quickly, erected a tombstone, which read: My wife Haoyue broke her arm.
Then he went down the mountain with the lost wolf-slaying sword. He searched everywhere for Haoyue's living Geli's corpse. Even if it was the objects on them, there was nothing. Langri stood under the cliff and looked up. The cliff was steep and there were many dead trees growing on it. Langri hoped that they would fall and be caught by the dead trees. As a result, after searching for it for a few days, he still found nothing.
Langri knew that sometimes without a result is the best result, and Haoyue might still be alive. It seems that only this explanation can explain why he searched the cliffs for almost a few miles, but there was no trace of Haoyue.
A few days later, Langri gave up and planned to return to the wolf-slaying tribe. Just as he was on the way, he met the dying Copperna.
Copper was seriously injured lying beside the tree, and Langri helped him up, "Uncle Copper, Uncle Copper." After discovering that he was still breathing, he tried to wake up the unconscious Copper.
Langri found some water and fed Coper. He slowly opened his eyes and saw that the person holding him in front of him was Langri.
"Great, you're awake," Langri smiled, "Come on, I'll carry you, let's go back to the wolf-slaying tribe."
Cober was carried by Langri, and he held Langri's neck, and his wound was still bleeding.
"How could you be here?" Langri asked.
"I escaped from the wolf clan." Cober said weakly.
"It's great that you're still alive," Seeing Cober alive was the most surprising and relieved thing he felt these days. He was alive just like the wolf-slayer is not the only one left.
Copper lay on Langri's back and heard his rapid breathing, "Where is Haoyue?"
Langri was stunned for a moment when he asked. Copper felt that he couldn't help but tremble. Langri didn't speak for a long time.
"Is Haoyue?" Copper had a strong premonition in his heart.
Langri turned his head, "She fell off the cliff with a wolf demon. I grabbed her, but she refused to save her and cut her arm off."
Copper felt a cramp in his heart, and he bit his lips for a long time and couldn't speak.
"I think she hates me so much," Lang Ri smiled self-deprecatingly, "It's all my fault."
Along the way, the two of them didn't say anything and finally returned to Wolf Slayer City, which had changed.
Standing outside the city, Langri looked at the city that had been almost destroyed by the fire, and Cober patted Langri, "Child, let me down."
Langri helped Cober to put him down. He let go of Langri's hand and walked a few difficult steps. Looking at this destructive place, the wolf-slaying city that he had lived since childhood has disappeared.
The two kept a distance for a while, and Copper turned around and said, "Take me to a place."
Langri did not expect that Cober would point at him and ask him to take him to Hoggie's grave.
Langri was wondering, and Coberna signaled him to put down himself again. Langri did as he did. Coberna slowly moved to Hoji's grave. He turned his head and said to Langri, "Do you know? Haoyue looks like her mother."
Langri looked at him in confusion, and Cober stroked the tombstone, "Fortunately, the fire did not hurt you, but I did not protect your child, it was all my fault."
There were tears in Cober's eyes, "I ruined all this. I am the real traitor of the wolf-slaying clan. I communicated that the wolf-slayer kidnapped Haoyue in order to kill Qi Jige. I also blamed Langri. It was me who poisoned him. I followed Qi Jige many years ago. That time I wanted to design and kill him. Unexpectedly, Langri came to save him, but I harvested a rare poisonous spider. Since that day, I have cultivated this kind of thing. All of this is what I did."
Langri opened his eyes wide and listened to all this, he couldn't believe it, "Uncle Coper, what did you say?"
Copper did not look at him and continued to look at the tombstone, "Hoji, I really hate Qi Jige. I always thought that he was the one who killed you. If it weren't for him, you wouldn't die at all, but I want to protect Haoyue. That is your child, the only testimony of your life in this world." He choked his voice, lowered his head and hit the tombstone with his head, one by one.
"You said you did all this, why did you kill so many people, why did you do this!" Langri clenched his fists and looked at him angrily.
Copperna's eyes were full of tears, "Because I love someone, I love Haoyue's mother, because she died, I have planned to take revenge from the day she died. I want Qi Jige to kill him, and I will not die well."
"Then you have to pay the lives of the entire wolf-slaying tribe, including Haoyue, don't you think everyone is innocent!" Langri couldn't help but shout.
"I was blindfolded by hatred," Copperna bit his lower lip, "I didn't expect this to happen in the end. The wolf demon lied to me, the dark forest lied to me, he slaughtered the city and ambushed us, the warriors were all dead, and I was seriously injured by them and brought back to the wolf clan and suffered all the torture." Copperna explained his own experience.
"This is all your retribution!" Langri growled.
"Yes, it's all what I deserve." Copper smiled bitterly, "I also framed you and let the whole clan treat you as a public enemy, let Haoyue hate you, deeply hate you." Speaking of Haoyue, Langri's heart was as if it was stabbed in by a knife, and the bleeding pain was so painful that he couldn't help but grab Copper's collar, "Why are you like this? Why are you so selfish!" Copper looked at Langri calmly, "Because I lost the person I love, Langri, I was blindfolded by hatred, and I regret it."
"If it comes to those who have lost their love, Haoyue has no mother, and his father, all the people from the Wolf Slayer tribe have died one after another, and I have also lost Haoyue. If you want everyone to make such a big price for your pain, don't you think you are too vicious!"
Cober looked at Lang Ri in a daze, "I didn't expect this to happen. At least I didn't expect Haoyue to die. I tried my best to protect her-"
Langri clenched his fists and waved it to Copper. He looked at Langri calmly. Langri's fist stopped in the air, and he threw Copper down and turned around.
"Langri," Copperna lay on the ground, with Langri facing away from him, "You can kill me."
"I won't kill the Wolf Slayers. Even though you are a traitor, you are the last person living in this race. Please take care of yourself."
Copper smiled, that was his last smile in this life. He took out the dagger he used to escape from his arms, stabbed it at his heart, and let out a low roar.
Langri turned around and it was too late. Copper's knife was inserted straight into his chest. He held Copper's fallen body and looked at him in surprise.
"I didn't want to live anymore. It was hatred that supported me to live until now, but I really didn't know that it was the ending. I regret it, Langrie," Copper pointed at Hoggy's tomb with his bloody finger, "Help me, help me, let me bury her, help me."
Langri looked at Hoggy's tombstone and looked at Copperna in surprise. Copperna's face was extremely calm and not twisted by pain.
