Chapter 38: Long Ri's Oath

In Langri's concept, it was because of the fact that his family was ruined. His father lost all his money and even lost his wives, concubines and children. Later, his father fell seriously ill and soon passed away. Langri became a slave and experienced the hardships of the world too early.

"I clearly remember what my father said to me when he was dying, he lay there tremblingly. Without a warm and suitable bed for him, I knelt in front of the bed. I knew he could not survive this night. His hands were as dry as branches. He asked me to get up and not want me to kneel down. He was sorry for me and said that he was the one who destroyed this house with one hand." Langri looked at the stars in the sky, and his mind was the scene of his father's death.

Haoyue lay down with him. She tilted her head and looked at Lang Ri's clear side face as if it was carved by a knife. His long eyelashes flashed, and the loneliness that could be seen flowed in his eyebrows.

"When he finally died, he told me not to have too many **, it would be better to return to the original state."

"I don't understand, I don't understand the rules and etiquette of you Han people." Haoyue turned her head, feeling unhappy in her voice.

"This is not etiquette, this is the truth. Why did Hada kill me? Because my existence threatened him, but my existence I don't want to pose a threat to anyone, I don't want to-"

"Yi Langri, it turns out that you are a coward!" Haoyue sat up suddenly, "Aren't you just shirking responsibility when you say so much? Shifting the responsibility you should bear. I don't know what your father told you, but my father has always told me this. He said that if you are very strong, you should take the initiative to take the responsibility of protecting others. If you don't bear it, it is a blasphemy to the gift given to you by God, and you will become a person without faith. You have this ability, but you keep escaping. Hada deserves to die. If a person like him becomes the leader, will the wolf-slayer have a future?"

"Haoyue," Lang Ri saw Haoyue anxious and realized that he might have really angered her.

Haoyue stood up, grabbed a handful of yellow sand and lit it at him, "The Wolf Slayer has raised you in vain!"

The handful of sand was fascinated by his eyes. Langri closed her eyes. When he opened it again, Haoyue had already run away from here. He looked at Haoyue's back and sat there stupidly.

I don’t know when Qi Jige stood behind him, “How can you be so unprepared?”

Lang Ri was startled by the sudden sound. When he turned around, he saw that it was his master, "Why are you here?"

"I was going to your room to look for you, and you weren't here either."

Langri dusted the sand on his body and stood up, "Sorry, Master, I--"

"This is like you," Qi Jige's words were beyond Langri's expectations.

"Langri, you are very kind. Your childhood experience has not made your people gloomy. You cherish everything now more. You repay all the people who are good or bad to you with sincerity. This is you, Langri, the person I want to choose is you. Only you are qualified to be the next leader of the wolf-slaying clan."

Qi Jige seemed to understand what Langri was thinking. He turned Langri's shoulder and looked at the direction where Haoyue ran away and continued, "Child, you are already very tall, so don't be afraid of high, because usually only by standing high can you see farther and more powerful. Although there is a risk of falling down, who will really not reach the top because of the dangerous mountains? You see Haoyue being angry with you, she must be very disappointed. You are also the one she chose. She saw you short and thin among so many slaves with gray faces and couldn't see clearly. How could you disappoint her?"

Qi Jige's hands holding Lang Ri's shoulders were so powerful. Lang Ri almost fell when he first entered the Wolf Slayer. It was this hand that grabbed him. Lang Ri felt that the most powerful hand in the world was just like this. The hand as warm as steel could instantly convey his strength. Now he is the master of these hands. The leader of the Wolf Slayer is pressing his shoulders, not only to alternate the position of the Wolf Slayer leader but also to his daughter. Lang Ri's heart felt warm. He turned his head and looked at Qi Jige's firm face, "I understand what you mean, Master."

"Very good," Qi Jige patted Langri's shoulders, "Look at how wide your shoulders and how hard your bones are, you will definitely become a strong man, which is destined."

Langri symbolically looked at his shoulders on both ends, and the night wind in the desert blew up Langri's black hair.

"Let's go. Tomorrow I will announce your important task in front of the clan's people, go to bed early and don't be late."

Langri nodded and returned to the wolf-slaying clan with Qi Jige.

On the second day, the leader of the Wolf Slayer tribe was on the stage. Qi Jige sat upright in the middle, and next to him were some important and respected people in the clan. When everyone was ready again, Lang Ri still did not appear on the leader's stage.

Coberna reminded Qi Jige that the time was almost over, and the tribesmen below the stage were already full, but Lang Ri still did not appear. Qi Jige sighed. The wolf-slaying sword was hanging on the stage, and was shining by the noon sun. Haoyue jumped onto the leader's stage. Qi Jige and others were stunned. Haoyue walked to the sword stand and raised her hand to take off the sword.

"What are you doing?" Qi Jige didn't understand what his daughter was going to do.

"This sword is the thing of the next leader. It is waiting for the new owner to be subdued, but the next leader is a timid ghost. He is not worthy of carrying this treasure. Father, you should take it away. Don't illuminate it again at noon sunshine."

"Haoyue, don't make trouble." Qi Jige looked around and the people began to complain.

"Where are people?"

"Why haven't you come yet?"

"Are you a temporary stage fright?"

Haoyue looked back and was even more angry by the sounds of the four people. "Father, listen to the voice of the people. What do they think? What does it mean to choose such a leader who hides from the face? Can such a person protect us?"

Qi Jige told his daughter that he had no idea what to say for a while. Cober came out at the right time, "Haoyue, go back first, don't make trouble here." After saying that, he reached out to get the sword in Haoyue's hand. Haoyue turned his hand and the sword came from his right hand to his left hand. She pulled it apart with a loud bang, and the sword took off from the sheath, and the dazzling sunlight emitted a dazzling light on the surface of the knife.

Haoyue placed the knife in front of her head, staring at the light flowing on the knife, her face clearly reflected on the knife surface, and her beautiful eyes were filled with tears. Haoyue closed her eyes and tears came out of her eyes.

"I'm sorry, I'm late." The familiar voice appeared behind. Haoyue opened her eyes in panic, and Lang Ri's face clearly appeared on the knife's face.

Yi Langri stood there uprightly, Haoyue turned around, and the wolf-slaying sword made a sharp sound. The knife slashed in the wind. Langri stood calmly. The hair beside him was carried by the sword wind that slashed, and the knife suddenly stopped in front of Langri.

Everyone gasped, including Qi Jige.

After a while, Langri spoke slowly, "Sorry, I'm late."

Suddenly, Haoyue closed the knife and threw it to the person next to him, and walked forward to hug Langri's neck. Langri hugged Haoyue with the flow.

When Haoyue's tears flowed down, she burst into tears without restraint, "Bastard, I thought you were not coming, I thought you were a coward."

Langri buried his head in Haoyue's three thousand hairs. Qi Jige walked up. Langri raised his head, and he was looking at himself with a smile, "I know you can."

Langri patted Haoyue, and she let go of him. At that moment, the people in the audience cheered. Others handed over the wolf-slaying sword. Langri stood in front of the stage like an oath. Another cheer was shaken by the earth, drowning all the hesitation and doubts of Langri. Qi Jige stood beside him and whispered, "Look, this is the cheer for you, this is the voice of all the people of the wolf-slaying tribe. They welcome you so much and love you. Should a man and a strong man have such a grand event for him in his life, and accept your future responsibilities under the gaze of everyone."

Langri was still standing, and the tribe members had bent down one after another, put their right hand on their chest and hung down the wolf-slaying people, who regarded as the noblest head, paid a salute to Langri.

"This is the glory you deserve." Qi Jige untied his blood-red cloak and tied it to Langri's chest. "I'll say something, say something, repeat me."

Qi Jige stood beside Langri, "You, Yi Langri."

"I, Yi Langri."

"From today, we will officially become the next leader of the Wolf Slayer clan--" Langri repeated Qi Jige's words and made the leader's oath. Every loud sentence made Langri excited. He deeply felt the feeling of his heart beating in his chest, and his blood was boiling. The people of this tribe worshiped and cheered in front of him. Langri thought that every word he said today would come true. He wanted to protect every tree and every person here. This is what he would have to accomplish in the future.

"I am a Han Chinese. The wolf-slayer accepted me when I was most hungry and gave me a second life. From that day on, I have regarded myself as a wolf-slayer. Today, the tribe members once again gave me the opportunity to stand here and become the next leader of the wolf-slayer. I will do my best to protect my tribe, and at the cost of my life, I swear." Lang Ri lowered his head deeply, placed his right hand on his chest, and bowed back.

Once again, the voices of the tribesmen were deafening.

Haoyue's eyes were filled with tears. She would not misjudgment. From the first sight to now, Yi Langri was the one she chose. Once she made a choice, she would be obsessed with her for life.

Langri held up the wolf-slaying sword. He turned his head and faced Haoyue. His sea-blue eyes were filled with tears. She covered her mouth with excitement.

Lang Ri smiled at her, but he didn't say anything, and used his lip to describe it. And you, Haoyue, I will protect you.

Haoyue nodded, she knew what he said.

The Wolf Slayers celebrated the whole night, singing and dancing around the bonfire, and the bright moon pulled the sun and danced in the venue, integrating into everyone.

Qi Jige sat next to him with a smile, and Cober leaned over, "You are so lucky. You have such a well-behaved daughter, and your future son-in-law will be the next leader. You can now enjoy your old age."

"Look at what you said," Qi Jige pursed his lips, "Haoyue's mother died early, and I have had a lot of time playing three roles by myself. I have become a father and a mother, and there are still a lot of things in the clan."

"Fortunately, you finally got it done. You'll be blessed with your children right away. Come on, I'll get some wine to drink."

"Hey, don't take it for me, I won't drink it." Qi Jige insisted on his principle of not drinking for many years.

"I still don't drink it, and my daughter doesn't drink it when she gets married."

"I promised her mother, I will definitely not drink it."

"Okay, I'll take the wine back to drink it, so that you won't be greedy when you see it." Coberna walked away with a smile.

Next to the campfire, there was an old man with messy and white hair staggeringly, watching the people in the tribe sing and dancing, clapping his hands and smiling and catering to him. This crazy old man was the one who lost his son yesterday. His hair was completely white overnight and he became crazy.

Copper passed by him, walked up to him and gave him the wine in his hand, "Drink it."

Had the drank it and took the wine, raised his head and drank it all, and finally wiped his mouth and smiled at Copper.

Cober shook his head, "I really don't understand why the old leader has a son like you. You gave birth to Hada again. How did you and your father and son compare with him back then?"

Hagan heard the word Hada and stopped giggling, hugging Coberna's arm and cried.

Cober broke away from his arm in disgust, "I still have the face to cry. You have the only tricks and strength to kill Yi Langri." He glared fiercely, then turned around and looked at Yi Langri who was singing and dancing with the bright moon by the bonfire.
