Chapter 22 If there is an afterlife

The scream cut through the sky, and Forget Seal covered his mouth and cried loudly.

At dawn, Xiaoyao called the monks, and everyone scooped the deep well one by one. The water began to become shallower little by little until no one was left to jump down to explore. Xiaoyao also jumped down, and Wanghen stood by the well and waited anxiously.

"No, Xiaoyao-" The monks groped for a while and suddenly realized that there was no cultivation here at all.

Xiaoyao was also shocked. He leaned down and touched again, "Scoop the water lighter." With his order, everyone scooped the water one bucket after another until it reached the person's waist.

"Hey, why is there no uncle Dao Ji—" The monks began to ask questions, and Xiaoyao also discovered that there was no master here. He looked around and had no other words. Then he raised his head and looked at Wanghen. Wanghen was stunned. How could Xiuyuan disappear out of thin air?

"No, Master Xiuyuan was indeed below yesterday. He rescued me." Wanghen widened his eyes, but there was no Xiuyuan in the well. She jumped down and groped in the water. No, it wasn't. Xiaoyao didn't know whether he was happy or sad. The master was not below, which indicated that he might have escaped. But thinking about it, there was only one exit here, and they were still there all the time. How did Xiuyuan escape? Wanghen was tired and sat in the water, looking at the water in a daze. Xiaoyao pulled her up, "Don't sit there, it will catch a cold."

Wanghen shook his head in vain, "How could this happen? He is obviously here."

"The master must have escaped." Xiaoyao turned to comfort Wanghen, who looked at Xiaoyao in the eyes, "Is it right to say that Master Ji is okay?"

"Master Jiren has his own appearance, so he must be fine."

"But-" To be honest, everyone present was confused. If what the woman said was true, how did Xiuyuan escape?

Xiaoyao sent Wanghen back, and she wrapped herself in Xiaoyao's clothes without saying a word. Xiaoyao was not as lonely as her, "Are you okay? Are you frozen?"

Wanghen shook his head, but still didn't say anything.

"Maybe when I go back, the master is waiting for me in the temple." Xiaoyao comforted Wanghen, "He is not in the well and proves that at least he is not dead. He is still alive, that's enough." Xiaoyao was obviously more optimistic than Wanghen. He patted Wanghen's shoulder. Wanghen couldn't help but want to shed tears. Xiaoyao stretched his shoulder over and let Wanghen lean against him.

Forget sobbed, "What if he didn't go back?"

Yes, what if the master didn't go back? Xiaoyao didn't dare to think about it, but there was one thing he knew deeply that the master must still be alive.

"It's okay if you haven't returned. The master must be fine. He is the reincarnation of an Arhat." Xiaoyao said this not only to comfort Wanghen, but also to cheer himself up. Wanghen still couldn't feel at ease, but it was finally better than before. Xiaoyao forced himself to squeeze out a smile, "I'll send you back, I haven't slept all night."

"I want to go back to the temple with you, but I'm not relieved."

"Don't have it, it's not convenient for you to go there. What do you say when you see you? Besides, you've been tired all night and I've been struggling all night. Let's go back and have a good rest." Xiaoyao refused like this, and Wanghen couldn't say anything else. Xiaoyao sent Wanghen to the entrance of her cave, "I can't go there, so I can save your father from seeing me." Xiaoyao stopped not far away, but Wanghen was still hesitant.

"I will tell you immediately when there is news from the master. I will be the first to notify you. Don't worry." Xiaoyao knew what she was worried about.

Wanghen nodded and then reluctant to walk back. When he arrived at the entrance of the cave, he turned back and looked around. Xiaoyao was still there, and when he saw Wanghen entering Xiaoyao, he changed into another expression. The melancholy between his eyebrows was hung up again. Xiaoyao was not unworried, he rushed back to Lingyin Temple immediately the next moment.

Xiaoyao pushed open the door, and he hoped that as soon as he pushed open the door, he would see Xiuyuan sitting there and smile at him kindly.

But no, Xiaoyao's heart suddenly became cold. He stood there in a daze, and the master did not come back. "How could this happen--" Xiaoyao sat down heavily, rubbed the temples on both sides, why did the master disappear out of thin air? What should I do?

Seeing Wanghen come back, my mother-in-law greeted him, "What did you do? Why didn't you come back overnight? Do you know how worried we are about you?"

As soon as my mother-in-law finished speaking, she found that Wanghen's clothes were still trendy and her hair was messy. "What's wrong with you? Why is this? Is something wrong?" My mother-in-law looked at Wanghen anxiously.

Wanghen wanted to hold back his tears, but still couldn't help it. She couldn't help crying. "Mother-in-law--" Wanghen hugged his mother-in-law, just like when he was a child, and when he wanted to cry, he hugged her and cried.

The mother-in-law patted Wuhen's shoulder in panic, "What's wrong with you? What's wrong with you? Who bullied you?"

Wanghen cried for a while before she got up. She shook her head, "What happened, Master Daoji is gone-away-"

The mother-in-law was stunned, "Li Xiuyuan? What's wrong with him? Why are you with him?"

So Wangheng resisted crying and told his mother-in-law the truth about the incident. The mother-in-law widened her eyes as she heard it, "You mean you were plotted against by someone, Li Xiuyuan wanted to save you-"

Wanghen nodded, "But after Xiaoyao and the others drained the water, Master Xiuyuan was no longer inside, so we don't know what's going on."

The mother-in-law glanced at her eyes, "This is really strange." She thought thoughtfully, and Wanghen looked at her mother-in-law's expression, "Mother-in-law, do you say that Master Xiuyuan will be fine, right?"

The mother-in-law didn't know how to answer Wuhen. She frowned, but Wuhen was so anxious. "I think he should be fine. Since there is no body in the water, he must have been rescued by some master."

"Master?" Wanghen didn't understand. She was by the well and didn't leave for a whole night. How was Xiuyuan rescued?

"Okay, don't think about it anymore, it's useless," the mother-in-law comforted her, "Looking at how haggard you must have suffered a lot of sins this night, right?"

Wanghen shook his head and his mother-in-law brought her a bowl of hot soup, "Drink it quickly, see how bad your face is now."

"Mother-in-law, I'm really fine," Wanghen forced a smile to relieve her. She drank the hot soup in one sip and immediately sweated a little, driving away some of her cold air.

At night, Wanghen was lying on the stone bed, looking at the top of the cave, she couldn't sleep, her mind was full of the scenes of Xiuyuan and herself in the bottom of the well. He was so lonely, and his actions and words when he finally saved himself. Wanghen kept thinking about whether he had really suffered as his mother-in-law and the others said. When he mentioned his mother, he couldn't hide his expression and eyes. Wanghen couldn't figure it out or understand it. It was just that these messy thoughts made her head hurt even more. She tossed and turned and couldn't fall asleep.
