Chapter 2 Death

Climbing trees is a double test of physical strength and psychology. On the sixth day of the tree, Lu Lie climbed significantly slower. His hands became slow and weak, his head began to be confused, and his feet missed several times, almost falling down with a basket, becoming one of countless martyrs.

To make matters worse, he had far underestimated the height of the giant tree - he had been climbing for six days, but there were still endless trunks above, and there was no sight of the top.

No matter how you save, the dry food and water in the basket have already reached the bottom.

Now, should we just go down the tree or continue climbing up?

If you return downward, you will naturally be much faster than climbing upwards. But even if you return to land, you will not be caught in prison by the toll, you will sooner or later be tortured to death by the evil fire in your body.

But climbing up is probably a dead end. Lu Lie didn't know how long it would take to climb, and he even suspected that the giant tree had no end at all - its form of existence might be infinite extension, extending into an endless space.

What made him even more desperate was that he did not find the fruit of a giant tree that he had longed for a long time along the way. Fortunately, the giant tree itself seemed to have a kind of soothing magic, which slightly relieved the evil fire in his body. As long as he stayed on the giant tree, it should be able to greatly delay his spontaneous combustion.

Lu Lie crawled on the tree wall and hesitated for a long time.

In the end, he made up his mind and punched the tree wall with a heavy punch: Climb! At worst, it's just a death. Twenty years later, it's another man. Continue to climb up, at least one in ten thousand chances of survival, which is better than returning down and dying to a coward.

Since he had made up his mind to die, Lu Lie no longer hesitated. He was a child who grew up in a mess. He had picked up food from piles of bones and crawled out of a pit. He had never seen any big scenes? Lu Lie didn't believe it anymore. After experiencing so many wars and never died, he would be trapped by a tree in the end.

When the sun came out, the clouds and mist dissipated, Lu Lie looked upwards and tried to determine the situation above the giant tree.

When he looked at it, he found that about two or three hundred meters above him, there were six black contours sticking to the bark of the tree, motionless. From the perspective of Lu Lie, it should be the contour of a human.

Although Lu Lie was bold, he was not reckless. He knew very well that the altitude of two thousand meters was not restricted by laws on land. Strange tree climbers met on giant trees and fought for food or even killed people and robbed goods. In the case where the other party was not clear about good or evil, moving forward rashly would only cause disaster.

The wind was strong at high altitude, and Lu Lie could not see the specific situation of the six outlines. He was afraid that the other party would find him, so he could only stop in place.

But the six outlines were still quietly above me, not moving forward for a long time, and I didn't know what they were doing. Is it still in such a place that I still feel excited to see the scenery under my feet?

Lu Lie couldn't move forward and retreat. When did he be so embarrassed? Just when was there a fire in his heart, he heard a clatter and his forehead was cold. A little liquid dripped from above and landed on Lu Lie's head.

He was secretly worried: Why, is it raining again at this time?

In the world of giant trees, raining is definitely a disaster. Rainy days will make the bark more slippery, and if a tree climber is not careful, he will fall.

Soon, Lu Lie discovered that his judgment was wrong. Two drops of liquid in the sky fell. He reached out and took the liquid and put it under his nose to smell it carefully - the strong smell of rotten smell, which was definitely not the smell of rain.

Suddenly, his pupils shrank into two points: It would be impossible to be wrong. This familiar smell was often smelled on the battlefield and among the dead. This was the broken smell that only corrupt corpses could emit. The one dripping from above was the corpse water.

Lu Lie raised his head and looked at the six outlines above floating slightly in the wind. They were already six corpses hanging from the sky.

He was shocked, and he smashed the bark with an axe in his left hand to fix his body, and pulled out the long machete behind his back with his right hand, posing in a position to prepare for battle.

"There are enemies! Although I don't know what it is, it is obviously very aggressive. It has killed six tree climbers and is likely to linger nearby and will come back at any time!

"At a distance of two hundred meters above oneself, this distance has become an aisle full of death and variables!"

This is the first judgment made by Lu Lie.

But his doubts gradually arose:

1. If these six people were attacked and died, why were the corpses still hanging on the tree? On the cliff of two thousand meters, after completing the fierce fight, the loser did not lose his balance and fell into the abyss. The probability of this happening is almost zero.

2. Did they die from other tree climbers or wild animals on the trees? If they die from other tree climbers, why were the packages on their backs not taken away? If they died from the mouth of wild animals, why were their bodies still intact?

Lu Lie had been waiting in place for a long time, and it would be dark when it waited again. He stretched his head and shook his head. He observed the bottom for a while and confirmed that there was no abnormal movement above for the time being. Lu Lie bit the long machete in his mouth, bowed his back tightly, used his hands together, and climbed up carefully.

Just two hundred meters short, even the wind and clouds blew, made Lu Liexin feel the throat.

To his surprise, he was ready for battle along the way, but eventually he climbed to the position of the corpse without any danger.

Just now, Lu Lie was heading for the wind at two thousand meters, but now he has climbed up for two hundred meters and has entered the wind. A disgusting smell hit him, choking him and tears are about to flow down his eyes.

From behind, these six people are men and women, with dark necks and thick arms. The shoes are made of anti-slip fish scales, wearing deer-skin that is high-altitude cold-proof, and the back is bulging. They look full of reserves. The weapons at the waist include daggers and nunchaku. At first glance, they are agile weapons prepared for high-altitude combat.

Lu Lie wanted to find out the cause of their death. He crawled to the male corpse closest to him and observed him further.

What made him feel creepy was that the male corpse had been dead for so long, and the muscles on his face began to dissolve, but he was still clearly seen in his expression before his death - his extremely wide pale mouth, his turbid whites narrowed into a line, and the crow's feet at the corners of his eyes were torn tightly.

He was laughing.

Dead people laugh?

What is he laughing at?

What did he see before his death, and to make him laugh so exaggeratedly? Even the danger of being close to him and his companions could not stop his smile?
