Chapter 3 The first generation of raptors came out

The Hellfire Heavy Carrier-based Bombers are in the international leading position in all performances. Behind this honor is Zhang Meng's foresight, which is also caused by the smashing of money.

It is natural to say that Zhang Meng’s prescient name is. Since he knows the future direction of the aviation field, he will not be able to let Datang’s aviation career take detours.

Due to the huge military pressure from Japan, Zhang Meng had to revise his national development plan many times, and many development projects had to speed up.

Just like the various warships of the Royal Navy of the Tang Dynasty, because time is tight, he had to spend more money on it and build it as quickly as possible. Hellfire heavy carrier-based bombers are also the product that was born in such an atmosphere. Each Hellfire cost up to 12,000 Tang yuan, making it the most expensive heavy carrier-based bomber in the world.

However, the money spent by Zhang Meng is not unfair. Since Hellfire was taken offline and officially launched into the Tang Dynasty Royal Navy aircraft carrier force, the Navy Air Force has tested its destructive power in just two months.

The results show that when Hellfire dives at high speed, the THZ-3 A 500kg aviation bomb it is mounted is amazingly powerful. It can penetrate 300 mm of Krupp homogeneous steel armor directly hits 500 cubic meters of soil throwing. When the 10-meter radius, the kinetic energy of the explosion debris penetrates 100 mm of homogeneous tank armor. The shock wave test shows that the brick and tile structure houses within a radius of 100 meters were razed to the ground. The average kinetic energy of the explosion debris within a radius of 200 meters was close to 300 joules, which can still cause fatal damage to the human body.

Currently, the 500 kilogram aviation bombs carried by mainstream land-based bombers in various countries can only reach 80% of the Tang army's THZ-3 A aviation bomb. (T represents Tang, HZ represents aviation bomb, and -3 A represents model)

The reason why THZ-3 A aviation bombs can have such great power is that Zhang Meng knows some of the formulas of the powerful ammunition of the later People's Liberation Army. Although there are only some formulas, it can still bring huge power improvements after being added to the conventional ammunition of the Tang Army.

Hellfire heavy carrier-based bombers carried THZ-3 A aviation bombs to participate in a large-scale bombing operation against the Indian tribe in Fiji, which was equivalent to killing chickens with a ox knife.

Basically, five or six aviation bombs can destroy a small tribe. Although the tribal wealth of the Indians is not enough to produce a few aviation bombs, the Tang army's purpose is to test the practical performance of Hellfire and THZ-3 A aviation bombs, as well as to train the battlefield psychological qualities of naval aviation pilots.

Of course, the political intention behind it is indispensable, which is to let the Indians and indigenous people in Fiji know the power of the Tang army. At the same time, it is not ruled out that it is to help the Tang people clean up the "idle people, etc." and "release the place" in advance when they settle in Fiji in the future.

In addition to Hellfire Heavy Carrier-based Bombers participating in the bombing of Fiji, the Tang army, as a companion who designed, developed, produced and served in the aircraft carrier battle group at the same time as Hellfire, also participated in the military operation.

Although Fiji has no air force and even no air defense weapons, Raptor heavy carrier-based fighter jets participated in the military operation, covering the Tang army from the air and advancing forward, attacking the Fijian Indians and other tribes' armies.

When the Raptor fighter fired at the Indian army at a low altitude, four airborne 20mm caliber THP-1 Type B aviation rapid-fire guns burst out with powerful firepower. The high-explosive bombs and armor-piercing bombs shot out showed terrifying lethality, causing heavy casualties among the Indian army.

Especially when the high-explosive bombs fired by the Raptor fighter hit the ground personnel, the entire human body was instantly torn into bloody mist and countless pieces of meat, which almost caused the enemy's spirit to collapse instantly. He could only wail and run away to escape. How dare he resist stubbornly?

Originally, the airborne weapons of the Raptor heavy carrier-based fighter were designed as six M2 heavy machine guns, but after testing, it was found that too many weapon systems invisibly added to the structural imperfection of the wings. Especially for carrier-based aircraft, the Raptor was designed as folding wings and installing six M2 heavy machine guns was very tight.

At the same time, the Navy Aviation Force used the Tang Army's SRA light tanks as the target for live-fire shooting, and found that the firepower attack advantages and destructive power of the six M2 heavy machine guns on armored vehicles were not very obvious.

One of the design missions of Raptors is to launch a lethal strike against the Japanese Army's armored vehicles when attacking the ground. Obviously, when the M2 heavy machine gun shoots ground tanks from the air, the hit rate and destructive power are greatly reduced, wasting a lot of airborne ammunition resources.

Therefore, Raptor Airlines replaced the original six 12.7mm M2 heavy machine guns with four 20mm caliber THP-1 Type B aerial rapid-fire guns, and prepared 460 rounds of ammunition. They can be equipped with a special 132-gram high-explosive bomb and 175-gram armor-piercing bomb produced by Haynes Arms Company according to the tasks performed. The two types of ammunition can also be used in a mixed manner.

After testing, the firepower of the four 20mm aerial speed-fire guns has been greatly improved, and the lethality effect of ground attacks is very obvious. It is completely instantly killed against Japanese light armored vehicles and has great destructive power to medium-sized tanks.

As the heavy carrier-based fighter of the Datang Naval Aviation Corps, Raptor's overall design concept is consistent with that of Hellfire heavy carrier-based bombers, that is, regardless of speed, firepower, armor protection, or range, all require extremely high standards, and will lead the international carrier-based fighter jets of the same type within at least ten years.

The Raptor heavy carrier-based fighter is 8.38 meters long and 4.2 meters high. It adopts the same magnesium aluminum alloy skinning process as Hellfire. After testing the super wind tunnel, it adopts a laminar flow wing shape similar to modern advanced propeller aircraft. It is combined with the excellent highly simple fuselage design of the S.6 racing aircraft and a reasonable in-flight equipment layout. This reduces its aerodynamic drag by 38% compared with the same type aircraft at the same time, with a cruise speed of 460 kilometers per hour and a maximum speed of 660 kilometers per hour. And when the size and weight are comparable to that of similar aircraft, the fuel load capacity has increased by 3 times, which makes its range reach 1,300 kilometers.

At the same time, as a heavy carrier-based fighter, the Raptor's exterior not only has thick, smooth, and sturdy magnesium-aluminum alloy skins as protection, but also key parts such as the pilot cockpit, engine and oil radiator all provide armor protection, and the armor weight even exceeds Hellfire to reach 150 kilograms.

Such armor protection is mainly to avoid the disadvantage of almost zero defense of Japanese Zero Fighters, and also to improve the return survival rate of naval carrier-based aircraft. After being injured by enemy aircraft, pilots can still fly the aircraft to return to the aircraft carrier safely. After all, it is inconvenient for aircraft carriers to replenish the aircraft when they go out for combat missions. Improving the return rate means preserving the combat effectiveness of the aircraft carrier and has a huge impact on the entire naval battle.

The Raptor heavy carrier-based fighter not only ensures high speed, long range, large firepower, but also provides a lot of armor protection, which is thanks to the fact that it uses the TWF-1600 air-cooled turboprop engine developed by Datang like Hellfire. Otherwise, it would be difficult for ordinary 1,600 horsepower piston engine to achieve comprehensive overall performance.

The Raptor is also fully ferrous metal brushed coating. The landing gear door, flap, oil radiator vent valve and cannon loader are hydraulically driven. The tail hook and wing folding device are manually operated. The gills on the engine cover are electricly controlled and closed. The surface skin of the control wing surfaces such as the rudder, elevator and aileron are all covered with trim adjustment plates.

Like Hellfire Heavy Carrier-based Bomber, the comprehensive performance of Raptor Heavy Carrier-based Fighter has exceeded the level of similar aircraft for six to seven years since its debut, and is destined to become a dazzling new star in the international aviation field.

The difference is that the Raptor has its targetedness. Its original design is tailor-made for the future Zero fighter jets of the Japanese Navy, which is also an important part of Zhang Meng's Pacific strategic policy.

Zhang Meng believed that the Tang army's possession of the two powerful weapons, Raptor and Hellfire, was enough to tyrannize and ravage the Japanese devils in the future Pacific War.
