Chapter 13 Aircraft Carrier Battle Group (2/2)

On December 3, 1931, the first ship of the Tianwang-class large aircraft carrier, the Dongfangchiguo Tianwang (CV-1), completed the sea test at the Longmen Port Naval Base in Yanjing to the Royal Navy of the Tang Dynasty. On January 5 of the following year, the Tianwang-class fourth ship, the Beifang Duowen Tianwang (CV-4), also completed the final sea test.

Zhang Xinhai and Zhang Meng attended the handover ceremony and announced that the Tang Dynasty Royal Navy officially formed the first aircraft carrier battle group. Li Haichen was promoted to the Major General of the Army and became the commander of the First Aircraft Carrier Battle Group of the Tang Dynasty Royal Navy. Li Jianhui, deputy captain of the Yanjing Aviation Wing, and Colonel Zhao Changzhi, deputy captain of the Jinling Aviation Wing, served as the first and second-ranked deputy commanders respectively.

From the composition of the command personnel of the aircraft carrier battle group, it can be seen that Zhang Meng arranged two air force officers to serve as deputy commanders from the beginning, indicating that the real main position of the aircraft carrier battle group comes from the naval aviation force.

The First Aircraft Carrier Battle Group has four large aircraft carriers, twelve light cruisers, twenty-four destroyers, twenty submarines, four electronic communication and communication jamming ships, six supply ships, one naval hospital ship (under construction), four amphibious landing ships (under construction), as well as a large number of auxiliary ships such as offshore guard gunboats and torpedo boats.

The four large aircraft carriers are the Eastern Chiguo Tianwang (CV-1), the Southern Growth Tianwang (CV-2), the Western Gwang (CV-3) and the Northern Dowman Tianwang (CV-4). These four aircraft carriers with full load displacement of 37,000 tons may only be considered light aircraft carriers by the 21st century standards, but they were classified as large aircraft carriers throughout the 1930s to the early stages of World War II.

The four aircraft carriers are divided into two teams A and B, and each team has two aircraft carriers operated jointly. The purpose is to ensure that the carrier-based aircraft on one aircraft carrier attacks the enemy, and the carrier-based aircraft on the other aircraft carrier can provide defense and achieve both offense and defense.

Team A: The King of the Kingdom and the King of the Growth.

Team B: Guangmu Tianwang and Growth Tianwang.

The twelve light cruisers naturally refer to the twelve Linxian-class light cruisers bought from the UK, but they were re-classified as the Sea God class by the Royal Navy of the Tang Dynasty, or they were called the Sea-font ships according to the traditional naming rules of the Tang Dynasty.

Twelve Sea God-class light cruisers were divided into four teams A, B, C and D, with three ships in each team.

Team A: Sea God [CL-1], Sea Sky [CL-2] and Sea Breeze [CL-3].

Team B: Haitou [CL-4], Haize [CL-5] and Haidai [CL-6].

Team C: Haichen [CL-7], Tsunami [CL-8] and Haiqi [CL-9].

Team Ding: Sea Star [CL-10], Sea Moon [CL-11] and Sea Quan [CL-12].

Twenty-four French fuzzy-class destroyers were reclassified as the Wind God class by the Tang Dynasty Royal Navy, or the Wind Font Ship, and were also divided into four teams A, B, C and D, with six ships in each team.

Team A: Wind God [DD-1], Wind Moon [DD-2], Wind Rain [DD-3], Wind Cloud [DD-4], Wind Feng [DD-5], Wind Shadow [DD-6].

Team B: Wind and Snow Number [DD-7], Storm Number [DD-8], Wind Power Number [DD-9], Wind High Number [DD-10], Wind Qing Number [DD-11], Wind Sand Number [DD-12].

Team C: Fenglei [DD-13], Fengqi [DD-14], Fengbo [DD-15], Fengxiang [DD-16], Fenglie [DD-17], Fengtao [DD-18].

Team Ding: Fengling No. [DD-19], Fenghuo No. [DD-20], Fengchi No. [DD-21], Fengcheng No. [DD-22], Fengdie No. [DD-23], Fengdao No. [DD-24].

Each light cruiser and the corresponding destroyer form a frigate, responsible for the sea and air defense tasks of the aircraft carrier battle group. Or a light cruiser and two destroyers form a pilot reconnaissance team to serve as the alert and patrol tasks of the aircraft carrier battle group.

The Tang Navy has currently served forty V-4-class submarines, divided into ten teams: A, Yi, B, Ding, Wu, Ji, Geng, Xin, Ren, and Gui. Each team is four, named after the fish in the oceans of major waters around the world, symbolizing that the Tang Navy's submarines control all the waters in the world.

Team A: Flower Fish Number [SS-1], White Fish Number [SS-2], White Scale Fish Number [SS-3], Sardine Number [SS-4]

Team B: Carp number [SS-5], Silver carp number [SS-6], Green carp number [SS-7], Big yellow croaker number [SS-8]

Team C: Mullet number [SS-9], eel number [SS-10], green scale number [SS-11], guillotine number [SS-12]

Team Ding: Yanyu number [SS-13], Chicken number [SS-14], Butterfly fish number [SS-15], Papaya fish number [SS-16]

Team E: Blackfish Number [SS-17], Cod Number [SS-18], Bass Number [SS-19], Tornado Number [SS-20]

Team: Catfish number [SS-21], Crucian carp number [SS-22], Knife number [SS-23], Flathead fish number [SS-24]

Team Geng: Sharp-mouthed fish number [SS-25], Bamboo fish number [SS-26], Mackerel fish number [SS-27], Mackerel fish number [SS-28]

Team Xin: Pirate number [SS-29], glasses fish number [SS-30], willow leaf fish number [SS-31], six-line fish number [SS-32]

Team Ren: Songyu number [SS-33], Sheep fish number [SS-34], Ancient eye fish [SS-35], Thorn fish [SS-36]

Team Gui: Magnetic Fish Number [SS-37], hook-brow fish Number [SS-38], viscera fish Number [SS-39], rice fish Number [SS-40]

Among them, the five teams of A, B, B, D and Wu, with the strongest combat effectiveness, were assigned to the aircraft carrier battle group. As fleet escort and reconnaissance submarines, the other five teams of Geng, Xin, Ren and Gui continue to stay within the Tang Dynasty Royal Navy submarine fleet, and are responsible for the use of reconnaissance submarines around the Tang Empire and key sea areas.

The four communications and communication electronic reconnaissance jamming ships are newly modified epoch-making high-tech warships of the Datang Navy. The displacement of the four ships is about 2,000 tons. The hull comes from the "Farragut" class destroyer originally planned to be built for the US Navy by the Philadelphia Shipyard in the United States. This class destroyer is the first type of destroyer designed by the United States after World War I. It was basically the expansion of the British destroyer at that time, with a high forecastle and two chimneys, and is equipped with a new 127mm high-level dual-purpose gun and a high-quality Mk37 fire control system. Since the rear main gun of this class is open-air unprotected and the front main gun is only semi-protected. After receiving six destroyers of this class, the US Navy thought it was too simple. In addition to the impact of the US economic crisis, the US military canceled the subsequent eight ships. The Philadelphia Shipyard has completed the construction of the hull part and the turbine system, but has no choice but to transfer it to the outside world at half price.

Originally, the Soviets planned to purchase these four destroyers, which had been completed by two-thirds of the completed destroyers, but in the end, the Tang Dynasty came out to ruin the situation. The US Congress banned the export of semi-finished warships to the Soviet Union. The Philadelphia Shipyard resold the four semi-finished destroyers to the Tang Navy.

According to Zhang Meng's instructions, the Tang Navy removed the rear masts of the four semi-finished destroyers and installed a large radio tower, installed the full-band radio reconnaissance and interception equipment developed by Tesla, and changed the four destroyers into the electronic spy ships of the Tang Navy.

As the world's first country equipped with electronic spy ships, the Tang Empire did not make any statement. These four spy ships were only included in the battle sequence of the Royal Navy of the Tang Empire in the name of communication ships.

However, due to the limitations of industrial level, the Tang army could not be handed over to foreign companies for development and production. Therefore, it relies entirely on the existing industrial equipment and technical forces of the country for research and development and manufacturing. Its resolution and interception range is much smaller than that of the local land-based land-based one of the Datang Empire. The maximum resolution and search range of each spy ship at sea is only 200 kilometers, and the signal interception range is only 50 kilometers.

The four spy ships were actually not within the battle sequence of the Tang Dynasty Navy. Their appearance of merchant ships disguised as Swiss nationality, had only one parallel 12.7mm heavy machine gun, one on the front and rear decks. They were usually hidden under the deck with lifts and used as self-defense weapons at critical moments.

The crew was a white European-born native of the Tang Dynasty. They were all agents of the Tang Dynasty's Homeland Security Bureau, so the four spy ships were actually affiliated with the Homeland Security Bureau.

Due to the outbreak of the Tang-Japanese War, four spy ships have been collecting intelligence off the coast of Japan, and have taken turns following the Japanese joint fleet, constantly intercepting the internal radio communications of the Japanese Navy and deciphering them.

Because the Japanese were worried that when the Ono Shisanidi fleet was completely wiped out, the Japanese Navy's internal cryptography and encryption algorithm might be obtained by the Tang army, the Japanese Navy changed the communication password. But they did not know that there was an expert in radio cryptography in the Ministry of Defense of the Tang Empire. Ma Xinlan had already learned the cryptography and encryption algorithms obtained from Japanese special high school intelligence personnel. After a week of cracking, the Japanese Navy's new radio encryption method was quickly mastered by her.

Therefore, at this moment, all their radio communication contents were under the control of the Tang army.
