Chapter 1 The Crisis Is Coming

After receiving the report from Luo Shanshan and Morita, Kamei immediately gave a written explanation to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department.

Although no direct evidence was found that Zhang Meng and his men robbed Siling Bank's vault, according to various so-called "coincidences", the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has identified the suspect as Zhang Meng.

However, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department was in a dilemma. If Zhang Meng was still a Chinese commoner under the rule of the National Government, the Japanese government could directly report to the National Government, forcibly arrest Zhang Meng and his men, and transfer them to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and the Tokyo Court for trial. They were fully capable of getting Zhang Mengzhao to confess his guilt.

But Zhang Meng was too cunning. He joined the Tongan nationality and successfully launched a coup to overthrow the Tongan Kingdom and established the Tang Empire. Now Zhang Meng has become the crown prince of the Tang Empire, holding all the national defense force of the Tang Empire. Although the little national defense force of the Tang Empire seems to be completely ignored by the Japanese government, the key to the problem is that the Tang Empire is still within the Commonwealth member states. It is not just a civil issue to attack Zhang Meng, but to rise to a political issue between countries, which makes the Japanese government embarrassed.

For this reason, Yataro, president of the Siling Consortium, personally visited Japanese Prime Minister Yuyuki Hamaguchi.

Yuyuki Hamaguchi knew about the stolen vault of Siling Bank headquarters. This was also the sixth time that a Japanese bank was robbed and stolen during his term. The huge loss of funds made Yuyuki Hamaguchi heartbroken.

Especially after the Tokyo earthquake, Japan's finances were tight, and after Yuyuki Hamaguchi was officially appointed as prime minister last year (Tanaka cabinet stepped down due to the Huanggutun incident, Yuyuki Hamaguchi acted as prime minister). He actively followed the example of Western European and American countries in restoring the gold standard and fiscal austerity policies. He underwent huge pressure from the opposition of major domestic chaebols and military. The Siling Bank's vault was stolen and hundreds of tons of gold was lost (Yitaro did not dare to tell the truth). This was a big impact on Japanese finance, which had just lifted the ban on gold. What was worse was that the outbreak of the US economic crisis and directly hit Japan.

From 1929 to 1931, Japan's exports fell by 76.5%, and imports fell by 71.7%. A large number of banks and industrial and commercial enterprises went bankrupt. The operating rate of major industrial sectors was only 50%, and the total industrial output value decreased by 32.9%, of which coal fell by 36.7%, pig iron 30.5%, steel 47.2%, ships 88.2%, and cotton textiles fell by 30.7%. The total agricultural output value also fell by 40%, and the price of raw silk fell sharply. Silkworm farmers, which accounted for 40% of the total number of farmers, suffered a fatal blow. Japan is experiencing the largest Showa panic period in history.

In order to get rid of the crisis, the Japanese military planned to take the path of militarist expansion to distract the people. This move was opposed by the cabinet of Yuyuki Hamaguchi, causing fierce confrontation and contradictions between the military and political sides in Japan to continue to escalate.

Under such circumstances, Yuyu Hamaguchi urgently needed gold to maintain Japan's financial and political stability, so he naturally targeted the hundreds of tons of gold and thousands of tons of silver lost by Siling Bank.

However, Yuyu Hamaguchi deliberately tried to control Yataro on the grounds that the Japanese government was inconvenient to hold political dialogue with the Tang Empire, a member of the Commonwealth, and prosecuting the crown prince of the Tang Empire would lead to political confrontation between Japan and Britain.

The Siritsuki consortium in Yataro's hands has almost reached the verge of bankruptcy because of the stolen gold at the headquarters. The other seven old chaebols of Japan, Mitsui, Sumitomo, Yasuda, Okura, Asano, Kawasaki, Fukukawa, and the five new chaebols Nissan, Nissan, Hito, Mori, and Riyan are all eyeing the Siritsuki consortium, and every day is in danger of being annexed.

Seeing that Yuyuki Hamaguchi deliberately did not let go, Yataro had to bear the pain: "Prime Minister, if you are willing to help retrieve the stolen gold and silver of Siling Bank, as a thank you, you will personally receive a repayment of 50 million yen. In addition, Siling Consortium will fully support your gold standard recovery plan, and all gold reserves will be dispatched and used by the Bank of Japan."

That's all, Hamaguchi Yuyuki immediately smiled and said, "We are all old friends. Although it's a bit difficult, I will do my best to help you!"

Yuyu Hamaguchi received Yataro's promise, so he attached importance to theft of Siling's treasury case, and ordered Foreign Minister Kitto and Minister Kato to report to the British ambassador to Japan, without conclusive evidence, accused the Crown Prince of the Tang Empire Zhang Meng, who was behind the stolen Siling Bank's treasury case, and demanded that the UK hand over Zhang Meng and his accomplices to be interrogated by the Japanese Police Department.

The Japanese were so strong that they didn't take the Tang Empire seriously at all, and directly asked the British government for people. This move immediately alarmed Downing Street.

Although the British did not take the Tang Empire seriously, they were members of the Commonwealth after all. They handed over the crown prince of the Tang Empire without real evidence with the words of the Japanese. This is really a bully, and the British themselves do not allow them to do that.

Especially the new British Prime Minister McDonald had a close personal relationship with Zhang Meng, and he immediately ordered the British Foreign Office to directly reject the unreasonable request of the Japanese government. But he understood that the Japanese government would not give up, so he called Zhang Meng to inform him that he should be extra careful.

Zhang Meng did not expect that he could even pay McDonald, a friend of British Prime Minister, to spend money. Although he knew in his heart that this was just a friend of interests, McDonald personally called himself to care for him must have other purposes.

Of course, McDonald had a purpose. He has now obtained a large amount of intelligence from the Tang Empire through the MI3 Intelligence Agency. He was surprised by the rapid rise of the Tang Empire and was curious about the huge source of funds in Zhang Meng. He even learned from the major shareholders of the Bank of England that Zhang Meng had a huge amount of funds in his hands. Regardless of whether Zhang Meng was a robber of Siling Bank, McDonald was only interested in the money in his hands. For politicians, he obviously had a similar stinky taste to Yuyu Hamaguchi.

Zhang Meng owed MacDonald a huge favor, and he knew that this favor would have to be paid back sooner or later. He also knew that the Japanese would not give up, so Zhang Meng had to make preparations. On the one hand, he continued to protect himself under the Commonwealth, and on the other hand, he was worried that the Japanese would jump over the wall and bit him.

Zhang Meng knows the Japanese devils too much. People born in the Year of the Dog bite people and like to engage in sneak attacks, which will make people unable to defend themselves.

In the Daxing Palace, Zhang Xinhai called Zhang Meng and Zhang Wei over. Zhang Meng knew that he could not hide it from the old man, so he simply admitted that he did it.

If it were normal, Mr. Zhang would immediately serve him with a feather duster and beat Zhang Meng up. But when he learned that Zhang Meng was only robbing the Japanese devils' bank, Mr. Zhang was very happy and exaggerated.

"They won't deal with you like Zhang Zuolin!"

Zhang Wei's words immediately made Zhang Xinhai and Zhang's mother suddenly nervous, especially Zhang's mother was worried that her son was anxious.

Zhang Meng hurriedly comforted the two elders, saying that they had strengthened their security and asked them not to worry.

But Zhang Meng knew very well that the Japanese had already determined that he was the mastermind behind a series of robberies of Japanese banks. No matter how they defended, it would be futile, and the Japanese would never give up.

With this time being taken back by the MacDonald Cabinet, judging by the military strength of Britain and Japan in the Pacific, Britain was at a disadvantage, and the strong Japanese military might not necessarily buy the British.

Especially this Hamaguchi Yuki was assassinated by the military once last year. Even if he dared not confront the UK head-on, it did not mean that the military was making small moves behind his back without hiding it, so Zhang Meng had to be on guard.

When answering how Zhang Xinhai should deal with the possible actions of the Japanese, Zhang Meng decisively spit out four words.
