Chapter 16 Majuro Air Battle (4)

With the beginning of the morning sun, the Marshall Islands ushered in a new day.

About 10,000 Cronesians live in this Pacific Islands, with Majuro Atoll the largest population, with about 7,000 people.

Since the defeat of Germany, the Japanese took over here and began a cruel colonial rule.

After the Russo-Japanese War, the Japanese Navy had no opponents in Asia. The lonely Japanese Navy targeted the imaginary enemy in the United States in the Eastern Pacific and the British, French and American colonies in the Central and South Pacific.

The three countries of Britain, France and the United States, who were aware of the attempt of the Japanese Navy, jointly bullied Japan and forced Japan to participate in the naval arms restriction treaty, thereby controlling the scale of the Japanese Navy and preventing its expansion into the Central and South Pacific.

However, the Japanese military did not give up. They built military and logistics facilities such as fortresses, airports, docks, and supply stations on the captured German islands, hoping that they would come in handy one day.

Finally, the war between the Tang and Japan gave the Japanese military an excuse to send troops to the Central and South Pacific.

Majuro Atoll is the largest atoll on the Marshall Islands. It is surrounded by eight slender islands, like a necklace, so it is called an atoll.

A large group of Japanese troops were stationed on Majulu Atoll, and an airport was built on Jarit Island, the largest island in the southeast. After the outbreak of the Tang-Japanese War, eight Zhongdao reconnaissance aircraft were stationed here to monitor the Tang army's every move to the south.

Kalarin Island is the entrance to the inner lake of Majulu Atoll. There is a pier that can be docked at the same time. There is a supply station built on the mountain not far away.

The supply station was built very much and it contained a lot of fuel, coal, and various weapons and ammunition. Because this is Japan's farthest foothold in the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by colonies of Britain, France and the United States. If one day the Japanese go to war with them, then this place will become the most important supply station for the Japanese Navy.

In the past, many local indigenous people were fishing here. However, the Japanese later drove them outside the atoll, where only Japanese immigrants were allowed to fish.

Fifty-year-old Masaki Kishida took his grandson Fumio Kishida to fish around the lake as usual. After immigrating to the Marshall Islands, they finally became rich by robbing fishing boats from locals.

After going all out, Kishida Fumio felt it was very heavy and thought the net had a big fish. He hurriedly called his grandfather Kishida Masaki to help.

The grandparents and grandsons finally put up the fishing net after all their efforts.

"Is this a human or a monster?"

Fumio Kishida was immediately frightened by the two monsters in the net.

Masaki Kishida was also shocked, but soon he recovered from his calmness. He took the fishing fork and carefully touched the two humanoid monsters in the net. Seeing that there was no reaction, he boldly approached and observed.

"It's two people!"

Masaki Kishida suddenly breathed a sigh of relief because he had myopia. When he got closer, he realized that he was just two people dressed in weird clothes.

"It seems like a diver!"

Masaki Kishida put down the fishing fork. Open the fishing net and drag the two people to the deck.

"These two people's clothes are so strange, especially their shoes look like frog's feet!"

Kishida Fumio was only in his teenage years, curiously shook one of the fins of the man. When he was trying to take off the man's diving blindfold, the other party suddenly opened his eyes.

Fumio Kishida was so scared that he was about to shout, but the other party was ready, so he covered his mouth and nose, and at the same time, a sharp dagger cut open his throat.

The man was very agile and did not make any sound when he killed Kishida Fumio.

Masaki Kishida, who was facing away from him, did not notice the mutation behind him. He was checking the equipment on another diver. The equipment was too advanced and he couldn't help but see it.

With a puff!

The dagger that killed Kishida Fumio penetrated from Kishida Masaki's back heart.

The man did not pull out the dagger immediately, but held Masaki Kishida's body and turned the dagger around twice to ensure that Masaki Kishida was completely killed.

If anyone sees this action, he will inevitably say that he is a professional killer.

However, in the eyes of the Tang army, he was called a special forces.

"The crisis is lifted, Barracuda, stop pretending!"

The man patted another companion named Pike lying on the deck, and the other party opened his eyes and turned over.

"I'm so depressed. I've never been caught. I was actually trapped in a fishing net!"

"We are not Gods, anything can happen."

"Lobster, what should we do now? The dead two Japanese people will alarm the snake?"

Lobster and pike are the code names of them. Among the Tang Army’s special forces, their skills and inheritance come from the Blue Fox Special Forces, so they also use code names to replace their names.

The special forces where the two are located are affiliated with the Special Forces of the First Division of the Royal Marine Corps of the Tang Dynasty. This time, they followed the First Marine Division to participate in the combat mission of attacking Mazhuluo Atoll.

Lobster and Barracuda are frogman vanguards. They were ordered to sneak into Neihu to spy on the defense of the Japanese army on the island. Their equipment was customized separately by Zhang Meng based on the modern special forces frogman equipment, and was designed for the future battle around islands of the Tang Empire. With frogman equipment, the Tang Marines could send special forces to infiltrate the enemy before launching a frontal battle, achieving unexpected tactical effects.

"Let's see if there is any valuable information on the ship. Just sink the ship in a while. The Japanese will not be suspicious in a short period of time."

"clear!"

There is a chart on the ship, drawn by Masaki Kishida himself, and the route above is exactly what the Tang army needs.

It turned out that Kishida Masaki privately surveyed a route directly outside the atoll with the Japanese army on the island. He planned to avoid the inspection of Japanese patrol boats so that he could pay less taxes and secretly go to the prohibited area designated by the Japanese army to catch fish.

"God really helps us! With this secret channel, our army can directly attack the Japanese army on the island!"

The lobster and pike were immediately overjoyed. Following the smuggling route of Kishida Masaki, they drove the fishing boat out of the atoll and returned to Orchardang Atoll, about 50 nautical miles northwest of Majuro Atoll.

When the fishing boat turned a few small islands, dozens of large merchant ships appeared in the waters ahead.

I saw that these large merchant ships were covered with huge camouflage nets. Even if the Japanese reconnaissance planes looked at them from the sky, they would think they were just small islands and reefs exposed to the sea.

The Special Forces Brigade of the First Marine Division sent thirty frogmen to investigate the eight small islands of Majuluo Atoll. Each special forces member encountered a different situation. Fortunately, they all went through strict special training and eventually returned without any danger and brought back the information needed by the Tang army.

However, the most valuable one is naturally the smuggling route brought back by lobster and pike. With this secret channel that even the Japanese army did not know, the Tang army could directly avoid the minefields laid on the main channel and enter the inner lake of Majuluo Atoll.

This step is very important because intelligence shows that the Japanese army has built fortress artillery positions on eight islands in Majuluo Atoll. Their firepower is very strong. If they attack from the outside seas, even if they use large-caliber artillery guns from battleships, they may not be able to hit them. Even if they attacked fiercely, for the landing troops, those heavy machine guns of the castle will cause huge casualties to the Tang army.

Of course, the Japanese army also built certain artillery and machine gun bunker positions on the back slope of Neihu. However, because the Neihu channel was equipped with a large number of mines, the Japanese army had limited financial resources, and only set up a small number of light artillery and heavy machine guns for defense.

After the commander of the First Land War Division, Major General Zheng Shaoqiu, repeatedly studied this secret channel, the lobster and pike came out safely from this channel. Therefore, he immediately designated this channel as a combat channel for the First Land War Division to launch an attack, and at the same time sent a letter to the Fleet Command.

"Send a report to Your Highness immediately, we are confident to launch an attack in advance and capture Majuro Atoll!"

On the ocean east of Kiribati, the first aircraft carrier battle group of the Royal Navy of the Tang Empire was heading towards Majuluo Atoll.

It was still one day's voyage to Majuluo Atoll, but unfortunately, the Tang fleet was discovered by Japanese reconnaissance planes.

This was something Zhang Meng expected.

But this did not affect the entire military operation of the Tang army code-named "Destroy the Bo" because Zhang Meng had previously ordered the General Staff to formulate multiple combat plans. As long as any of them can be fully realized, the battle will be won.

If the Japanese reconnaissance plane did not discover the main fleet of the Tang army, Zhang Meng would continue to take the action plan of destroying the enemy, directly joining the First Army Division, and use powerful naval and air force to cover the Tang army's landing operation.

Now that it was discovered by the Japanese reconnaissance plane, Zhang Meng immediately canceled Plan A and switched to Plan B.

According to Plan B, considering that when the Japanese army attacked the strong fortifications of the Majuluo Atoll, if the firepower of the Tang fleet was not covered by the firepower of the landing troops, the offensive pressure would be very high and the casualties would be much higher. Therefore, Plan B did not require the First Land War Division to take down the Majuluo Atoll, but instead changed to a restrained military feint, and its purpose would be to encircle and attack aid.

As the name suggests, the Tang army ordered the First Marine Division to feint attack Mazhuluo Atoll, which gave the Japanese defenders the strategic illusion that the Tang army intends to seize Mazhuluo Island and reefs. At that time, the Japanese joint fleet will surely reinforce quickly. In that case, the speed gap between the main ships of the Japanese joint fleet will expose their fatal weaknesses. The fast speed and slow speed will separate, and the air defense firepower will inevitably be greatly weakened. At that time, the Tang army's bomber group will give priority to attack the Japanese army's slowest speeds of the slowest warships and supply ships.
