Chapter 346 Reasoning
Shaolin Temple in this era is far less large than later generations. Although they have a monk soldier with great combat power in historical records, if we talk about the scale of the temple, the income of the temple production and even the number of monks, they are far less than that of later generations such as the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
In fact, Shaolin Temple began to promote Li Shimin after the Thirteen-stick monks saved Li Shimin and helped Li Shimin defeat Wang Shichong. During the Daye period when Emperor Yang of Sui first took charge of the country, Shaolin Temple was just one of the more ordinary temples in the world.
However, the small size of the temple has the advantage of being small. One advantage is that it is easy to manage. Since there is no pagan disciple and the small number of deacons and monks engaged in chores, the components of the monks in the temple are relatively simple and clear. To put it bluntly, it is not easy to be mixed into the temple by outsiders.
Since outsiders cannot get into Shaolin Temple, there is no question of stealing martial arts books from the Sutra Pavilion. Therefore, there has never been any special skills in the temple leaked out of the world, and it will not be stolen by Polo Xing, Xiao Yuanshan, Murong Bo and others like in the Song Dynasty.
However, it is precisely because the martial arts in Shaolin Temple have never been leaked that Li Zhiyun will make Shaolin martial arts a big deal. So when Li Zhiyun asked Tan Zong in turn, "Do you dare to say that my Shaolin Kung Fu was learned secretly from your Shaolin Temple?" Tan Zong finally became tough and said two words firmly: "Of course!"
In addition to stealing secret books in Shaolin Temple or peeking at monks to practice martial arts, what other ways can you learn the authentic martial arts of Shaolin Temple? You should know that Wang Renze stole all over the world in many sects and families, and learned dozens of martial arts, but he failed to learn any of the basics from Shaolin Temple. This is the reflection of Shaolin Temple's strict prevention.
However, no matter how careful the Shaolin Temple is, it cannot stop Li Zhiyun, who is so magical. Without talking about other skills, he can calmly avoid danger and save himself from being swallowed and crushed by Zheng Siyuan's Fire Dragon and Zhongli Quan's Qinglong. If he uses this ability to steal into Shaolin Temple, how could the Shaolin monks defend it?
Therefore, Master Tanzong increasingly believed that Li Zhiyun's Shaolin martial arts was learned from the Shaolin Temple Sutra Pavilion. He had wanted to talk to Li Zhiyun for a long time, but because his skills were not as good as others, he could only bear it until Zen Master Lingyou came to the foot of Qianfo Mountain.
Zen Master Lingyou has a deep connection with Master Tan Zong's master. He came to Shandong for the sake of Lingshi. When he met Tan Zong and heard Tan Zong describe Li Zhiyun's martial arts, he immediately had an idea and said that you just go to him to argue! I have my own way to make you win the battle.
Master Tan Zong was half-believing and half-doubted about Zen Master Lingyou's guarantees, especially today, when he saw Li Zhiyun winning the battle against Tieguai and Han Zhongli with his own eyes, he was even more nervous: Uncle Lingyou, what kind of way do you have to make me defeat Li Zhiyun? It seems impossible no matter how you think about it.
So after appearing, Master Tan Zong first put on a very low posture, saying that I was either here to compete with you, Li Zhiyun, or to leave room for room for defeat.
Master Tan Zong is so low-key, but Zen Master Lingyou is full of confidence. When he saw Tan Zong being humble, he immediately appeared, shocking Li Zhiyun while cheering Tan Zong.
Perhaps it was inspired by Zen Master Lingyou, or perhaps it was because he saw Zen Master Lingyou that he had become accused of Li Zhiyun. If he was more timid, he would be sorry for Zen Master Lingyou's help, so Tan Zong became tough. What? I think you, Li Zhiyun, were learning secretly.
Seeing Master Tan Zong suddenly become tough, Li Zhiyun couldn't help but feel angry and amused, and asked: "You said I secretly learned your Shaolin martial arts, but what evidence is there? For example, time, location, and witness verbal evidence, let's talk about it, it just so happened that the heroes of the world gathered here and asked everyone to make a notarization."
Master Tanzong immediately spoke in a distracted voice and argued strongly: "With Master Li's skills, he would have to go to Shaolin Temple to learn martial arts secretly without any effort. How could he be discovered by the monks in my temple? You have asked me to tell me the time, place and witnesses now. Isn't this a forceful way?"
The onlookers nodded, all of whom felt that Master Tan Zong was right. With Li Zhiyun's ability, it would be fine if he had sneaked into Shaolin Temple, not to mention entering the imperial palace or even going to heaven and earth. As long as he didn't want to be discovered, who could find it?
So they looked at Li Zhiyun, wanting to hear how Li Zhiyun defended her, but they saw that Li Zhiyun laughed disdainfully and said, "You sound like that, but you forgot something."
Master Tan Zong hurriedly asked, "What's the matter?"
Zen Master Lingyou sneered coldly: "You don't need to make a quibble. Just with your ability, don't you dare to do it?"
After hearing this, Li Zhiyun's originally disdainful smile disappeared immediately. He looked at Zen Master Lingyou coldly and said, "Are you tired of living like a bald donkey? Master Tan Zong wants to reason with me, so I will reason with him. Why are you intertwined in it and messing around? If you don't want to reason, stop talking and start fighting directly!"
Zen Master Lingyou was furious when he heard this and shouted, "If you fight, just fight, do you really think you are invincible in the world?"
Master Tan Zong next to him quickly persuaded him, and pulled the cassock of Zen Master Lingyou and said, "Uncle Lingyou, as the saying goes, the truth is not clear, let the disciples argue with him and see what truth he can tell."
Taking advantage of others and then beating people is an unwritten rule in human activities from ancient times to the present. Even Yang Jian, who is as noble as a monarch, had to write a manifesto to the world before he wanted to conquer Goguryeo, so as to be the master of his rank, let alone a Buddhist monk who always advocated "reasoning"?
Lingyou also knew the importance of occupying the rationality, so he took a step back and let Tan Zong look at Li Zhiyun and said, "Master Li, what did you say that I forgot something, just say it out."
Li Zhiyun snorted coldly and said, "You just said that it is easy to enter your Shaolin Temple with my martial arts and will not be noticed by the monks of the He Temple. Can this sentence prove that my martial arts are better than all the monks of the Shaolin Temple?"
Master Tanzong nodded after hearing this and said, "Good, good, what Mr. Li said is very true. The one with the highest martial arts in my temple is the poor monk, and even the poor monks are willing to give in to Mr. Li, let alone other monks in Shaolin Temple, they are indeed far behind Mr. Li!"
Li Zhiyun looked at Tan Zong with a strange look. After hearing the latter say this, he nodded and said, "Okay, then I'll ask you again, since my martial arts skills have far surpassed your Shaolin Temple and all the monks, and I'm going to learn your Shaolin martial arts skills, why do I do?"
"this……"
Master Tan Zong was speechless, and the onlookers nodded repeatedly, yes! Li Zhiyun was full of martial arts, and even the heavenly martial arts could emerge one after another. Why should he learn the vulgar martial arts of Shaolin Temple?
Yes, Shaolin Temple's unique skills are indeed very powerful, but if they compare with Li Zhiyun's martial arts, they will inevitably pale in comparison. Although it is not a world of difference, at least Li Zhiyun's martial arts is a few points higher than Shaolin's martial arts, which everyone present recognizes.
There are idioms such as "sweeping the roots and chasing the ends", "losing the big because of the small", "going to the near and seeking far away", which means that it means that Li Zhiyun is now holding a thousand kilograms of spirit stone worth billions of millions of dollars. How could he care about the only thousand taels of gold and silver among others?
When Yang Su saw this, she couldn't help but feel funny secretly, thinking that you, the monk, still want to reason with Li Zhiyun? Isn't this just asking for trouble?
Li Zhiyun was too verbally fighting Gao Yang in the Golden Palace and even won. If he had a good reputation, I am afraid that Zhuge Liang, who was verbally fighting against many scholars in the Three Kingdoms, might not be able to win if he came. How could you, a monk from Shaolin Temple, be his opponent?
Thinking of this, I couldn't help but smile on my face, but suddenly realized that I had confused the two Li Zhiyun. This matter didn't make any sense at all. I couldn't help but laugh. After laughing, my heart was shocked. Could it be that these two Li Zhiyun really have any inseparable connection? Otherwise, why are the literary and martial arts similar?
When he looked at Li Zhiyun again, Master Tan Zong refuted again. Master Tan Zong's reaction was also very quick. He just kept silent for a moment and continued: "Mr. Li said this badly. Didn't you hear that there is no highest martial arts in the world, only the highest martial arts. The martial arts of the monks in Shaolin Temple are low because our talent is limited, but not the low-level Shaolin skill level. Otherwise, how could I, Master Bodhidharma, be powerful in the past?"
This is also very reasonable, and everyone couldn't help but nod. Yes, it seems that it is not right to say that the martial arts of Shaolin Temple are not good. Didn't the ancestor Bodhidharma once dominated the martial arts world and fought invincible in the world?
Li Zhiyun was amused by Master Tan Zong's statement again and said, "You can really say that you are a monk. You can recite scriptures. I understand what you mean. What you mean is that after I secretly learn the martial arts of your Shaolin Temple, my attainments in Shaolin skills will be able to go along with your ancestor Bodhidharma, right?"
"Amitabha." Master Tanzong only pronounced the Buddha's name as an answer, indicating that he would acknowledge it.
Bodhidharma, whose full name is Bodhidharma, is a native of Southern India, and has a Brahmin caste. He calls himself the 28th ancestor of the Buddhist Zen Buddhism. He sailed to Guangzhou during the reign of Emperor Wu of Liang in the Southern Dynasty.
Emperor Wu of Liang believed in Buddhism. Bodhidharma went to Jianye, the capital of the Southern Dynasty, and met Emperor Wu of Liang. He was in a meeting with him. He crossed the river with a reed and went north to Luoyang, the capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty. Later, Zhuoxi, Shaolin Temple in Songshan, faced the wall for nine years, and passed on his robe and bowl at Huike. Later, he went out of Yumen and traveled for life. He died in Luobin in the third year of Tianping in the Eastern Wei Dynasty and buried Xionger Mountain.
Bodhidharma first preached Zen in China, "it pointed directly to the heart of people, realized the nature and became a Buddha, did not establish words, and was taught separately from the teachings." The second ancestor Huike, the third ancestor monk, the fourth ancestor Daoxin, the fifth ancestor Hongren, and the sixth ancestor Huineng were vigorously promoted. Finally, one flower and five leaves bloomed in the secret garden, becoming the largest sect of Chinese Buddhism. Later generations respected Bodhidharma as the first ancestor of Zen and Shaolin Temple as the ancestral courtyard of Zen.
The story of Bodhidharma is widely circulated; crossing the river with a reed, facing the wall for nine years, standing on the snow with a broken arm, walking only to the west, sweeping across the Chinese martial arts world at that time, and there was no rival in the world. His achievements were admired by generations of martial arts powerhouses. If you can reach such a state by practicing Shaolin skills, then it cannot be said that Shaolin martial arts are not attractive to Li Zhiyun.
Most of the people thought this way, so they looked at Li Zhiyun and wanted to hear how Li Zhiyun defended, but they saw that Li Zhiyun said calmly: "Since you mentioned Bodhidharma, then I ask you, do you know who the Master of Bodhidharma is?"
Tanzong did not answer immediately after hearing this, but looked at the sky and sang ten times, saying at the same time: "The Shaolin Temple records that there are two masters of the ancestor of the monk, one is the Venerable Prajna, who teaches him martial arts, and the other is to seek Navadra, who teaches him the Dharma and the four Lankavatara sutras in this temple..."
Li Zhiyun knew that the "Lankavatara Sutra" was the four sutras written by Xuantong, a Shaolin Douji monk, and inserted into the "Nine Yang True Sutra". Later, it was stolen by Xiaoxiangzi and Nemoxing and hid in the belly of the crow ape.
There is no need to discuss the matter of the Lankavatara Sutra with Tan Sect. He immediately interrupted: "Since you know that Venerable Prajnado is the master of Bodhidharma, then do you know what the internal strength of Venerable Prajnado is?"
Tan Zong frowned after hearing this, but because of this, the matter had already involved the secrets of Shaolin martial arts, it was really inconvenient to say it in public, but if it was not spoken, it would be impossible to debate with Li Zhiyun. So he said resolutely: "It's the Yi Jin Jing and the Hua Zhi Jing!"
The reason why Shaolin monks in later generations were not as good as their predecessors was that the spiritual energy of heaven and earth gradually faded was certainly a very important reason, but the more important reason was the loss of the Marrow Cleansing Sutra. As early as the Song Dynasty, the Marrow Cleansing Sutra was gone. Therefore, no matter how hard the monks in the temple studied and practiced hard, they could not practice the level of the Bodhidharma Patriarch.
In fact, it is not just the ancestor Bodhidharma, but even the senior monks such as the second ancestor Huike and even the Master Tan Zong at this moment were beyond the reach of the later Shaolin monks.
You should know that at this time, Shaolin Temple had not lost the marrow washing meridian and was still at its peak when the two meridians coexisted.
"Wrong!" Li Zhiyun immediately denied Tan Zong's answer.
Tan Zong couldn't help but say in surprise: "How could it be wrong? This is what is recorded in the Buddhist scriptures!"
Shaolin Temple has always had the habit of writing diaries, namely Shaolin Temple arc, which is written by each abbot, recording major events that have occurred since the founding of the temple, the lives and pasts of important monks, and even the quotations of proverbs. Until the Qing Dynasty, it was not interrupted. Therefore, Wei Jue Ye of the Qing Dynasty in later generations could learn the allusions of Shaolin monks from Xuan Cheng's dynasty from the mouth of Xuan Cheng.
Li Zhiyun laughed and said, "Your temple chronicle has been written incorrectly. The Marrow Cleansing Sutra and the Yijin Sutra are just two internal skills passed down to Bodhidharma by Venerable Prajnado. However, the internal skills that Venerable Prajnado is best at have not been passed down to your ancestors. Do you know what kind of martial arts it is?"
Tan Zong said in a daze: "I really don't know, don't you know if Mr. Li can report it?"
Li Zhiyun did not answer immediately, but asked: "Do you know what the internal strength I practiced is called?"
Tan Zong said: "I don't know, so I hope to see you."
Li Zhiyun nodded and said, "The skill I practice is called Prajna Dragon and Elephant Kung Fu! The founder of this skill is the master of your ancestor Bodhidharma, Venerable Prajna! It is only because his name is Prajna Dora that he named the internal skill he created and is best at in his life as Prajna Dragon and Elephant Kung Fu!"
Li Zhiyun's words were not far-fetched, but had just communicated with the soul of Kunlun slave who was imprisoned in his sea of consciousness. Kunlun slave and Bodhidharma were Indian warriors of the same era, so he naturally knew what the internal strength of Master Bodhidharma Prajnado was.
Li Zhiyun's words were well-founded, with a nose and eyes. Master Tan Zong didn't believe it. However, after believing it, he couldn't help asking: "Even if what you said is true, what is it related to the debate topic we just made?"
