Chapter 5 Road Encounters 4
Just as Mr. Jia was trying to say something to Tie Niu, a crisp sound of gongs rang out from outside.
It was still pouring rain outside, who would beat the gong in the rain?
Everyone turned their eyes toward the gate.
After a shattered sound of foot stomping on water, a man appeared at the gate.
It turned out to be a monk. The monk's robe was so dirty that it could no longer be seen what color it was. I don't know how long it took for me to shave my hair and how long it was.
The monk wiped his face with the dripping sleeves of the robe, showing his true colors. It turned out that this monk was still very fair.
But no one saw what the monk looked like or dressed.
No one looked at the gong held by the monk. Everyone's eyes fell on the monk's rope in his hand!
The little monkey had a rope tied around her neck, and her whole body was soaked. Her dripping body was still trembling. Her eyes looked pitifully at the people standing or sitting around the fire.
"Dear donors, it's windy and rainy outside. Can I come in and roast the fire too?" asked the monk.
Without waiting for the answer, he walked straight to the fire and stretched out his hands to roast the fire.
As he followed suit, the monkey also stretched out his two front paws to roast the fire as if he was bowing his hands.
"Why is Master Yunyou still bringing monkeys?" Mr. Jia asked in confusion.
He was a wealthy young man, and all he came into contact with were eminent monks like temple hosts. They had no worries about food and clothing and were famous for the powerful. Therefore, he had never seen such a down-and-out monk, so he had this question.
Half of the monk's face blushed.
"In this world, there are few people who are dedicated to Buddha and receive less alms. It is better to let the monkey get more money by turning a few bites." The monk replied truthfully.
Everyone laughed awkwardly. The laughter was filled with contempt and disdain. The snow geese in the small room burst into laughter like silver bells.
The monk instantly turned bloody. He sat up straight. The figure reflected on the wall was so tall that he rushed out of the land temple!
"When I save enough money for charity, I will buy a horse, and go to the West to seek scriptures and save all living beings in a bamboo basket of bread!"
The monk said strongly.
Everyone was stunned by his voice and was stunned.
Only Changshou, who had not laughed just now, shook his head and said, "A bamboo basket of bread is not enough. Before you can reach half of the journey, you will starve to death."
"I will take it with me and continue to wait for someone to give it on the road!" The monk pointed at the monkey and said stubbornly.
This action scared the monkey into a ball with a squeak.
"Hey! Is there no one in this world who helps me save all living beings?" The monk sighed and looked at Mr. Jia Er.
You can see at a glance that the second young master Jia is rich.
"Don't there even be a horse that I went to the West?"
When he said this, the monk looked at the old donkey in the corner, which was watching the fun with his eyes wide open.
The old donkey was so scared that he hurriedly fell down!
The second young master Jia on the other side did not react. Maybe he really couldn't understand.
Changshou took out a piece of cake from his arms and roasted it on the fire. After a while, a burnt fragrance came.
The second young master Jia naturally would not take the noodles seriously. Li Tieniu and other servants had a good meal along the way.
The monk lowered his head vigorously, trying hard not to look at the Changshou baked bread. But the fragrance persisted in rushing into his nose.
All four elements cannot match the empty stomach.
The monk's stomach is now rumbling.
But the little monkey couldn't care so much, it looked at the bread in Changshou's hand with eager eyes.
The dough was baked and soft. Changshou broke the dough in half and handed the half to the monk.
The monk looked down and didn't look at it, but he reacted very quickly.
"Thank you donor!"
The monk bowed and thanked.
Everyone watched this scene.
The second young master Jia's face twitched involuntarily.
Changshou broke half of the bread in his hand and handed half to the monkey.
The monkey couldn't wait to grab the dough. The long nails left a red line on the back of Changshou's hands, and Changshou was completely unaware of it.
"fool!"
Li Tieniu cursed in a low voice.
The second young master Jia smiled.
The monk saw nothing. He was stuffing the dough into his mouth.
"Where is the master going to travel?" Mr. Jia asked Changshou.
My father was a senior official of the court and I also had a free job. My second son Jia actually said this to a thirteen or fourteen-year-old Taoist priest, which everyone found strange.
"This is my first time out. The master said that my opportunity has come. Calculate wherever I go." Changshou replied.
"Would you like to visit Jinling? My elders also have immortality, and there are Taoist temples at home." Mr. Jia said attentively.
"Practice longevity? Longevity means longevity. My name is Changshou. If you don't go, don't go!" Changshou shook his head and said.
The second young master Jia was very disappointed. He asked again unwillingly: "I wonder which Taoist master is practicing?"
"What else can you cultivate besides Taoism?" Changshou asked back.
"I grew up in the mountains. The stream flows from top to bottom and it is natural. It is the heart when I see it at a glance." Changshou continued.
The second young master Jia remained silent.
The monk then stuffed the last piece of bread into his mouth, and he choked when he heard Changshou's words.
The heavy rain comes quickly and goes quickly.
The second young master Jia and his group also set off for Nanluo County to rest.
Neither the monk nor Changshou moved.
What else can you do except settle here if you are penniless?
Before leaving, Mr. Jia took out a ingot of silver from his sleeve and put it in front of Changshou. After thinking about it, he smiled and took out a ingot and put it down, and turned around and left.
"Stupid brat! What a good life." Tieniu cursed in a low voice.
After everyone left, Changshou put a ingot of silver in front of the monk.
"How did this make it happen!" the monk waved his hand and said.
"This silver was originally given to you by that young man." Changshou said with a smile.
The monk then suddenly realized. He picked up the silver and put it in his sleeves, then hurriedly took it out and put it in his arms. Then he smiled at Changshou with confidence.
"How much is there to go to the West?" Changshou asked with a smile.
"It's almost there, it's still half the way!" the monk replied cross-legged. It looked like he was already sitting under the Bodhi tree where the Buddha master was enlightened.
Changshou just smiled and shook his head.
Maybe it was the heavy rain that blocked people and no one returned to this land temple.
Only monks and Changshou slept here at night.
They found a few more pieces of wood to add on the fire, and the two of them lay down to rest.
After a while, the monk's long and short snoring sound came.
Changshou lies on his side with his little face facing the monkey's red face reflected by fire.
The monkey's two lively eyes were looking at Changshou pitifully.
"If you have any wishes, just say it. How can I know if you don't say it?" Changshou said.
The monkey squeaked, and his front paws grabbed the rope around his neck with force.
"It's easy for you to get rid of it." Changshou pointed to the fire and said.
The monkey seemed to understand the meaning of longevity and retreated from the fire in horror.
"Look, can't make up your mind, right? Liberation is the true liberation." Changshou said.
