Chapter 279 Maps and Magic

Half an hour later

Sirius sat on the sofa with a dark face and heard a bad news that Petr had run away, or rather, hid in a place where no one knew it and pretended not to die.

He thought to himself frustratedly, did he do all he has done for so long useless work?

Felix picked out another book from the bookshelf, which actually mentioned a complete ancient magic. The portrait of Principal Phoenix Black did not deceive him. The collection of books here is indeed extraordinary, although some of them were moved from the Hogwarts banned book area.

It seems that when the old man was the principal, he often seeks benefits for his family.

Unfortunately, things are impermanent, and the Black family has fallen to this point...

"Have you tried the map of the live spots?" Sirius asked suddenly.

"Living Spot Map, what is that?" Felix raised his head from the book.

Sirius said in a muffled voice: "It was a moving map that recorded the location and secret passages of Hogwarts. It looked like folded parchment paper. It was made together when we were in school, James, Remus, and...Peter, the little dwarf."

"The map of live spots can mark the traces of everyone in the Hogwarts range, even Dumbledore."

Felix blinked, he knew what Lupin was looking for Felch, and he said with certainty: "This map should have been confiscated by Felch."

"We did it on purpose." Sirius curled his lips, "We were about to graduate at that time, and we were desperate to inherit our sacred prank career, so we found a proper opportunity to attract Felch's attention and let him take the map away."

Felix nodded slightly, it turned out that there was still such a past event.

Sirius wondered, "Didn't Remus tell you?"

Felix whispered: "The map is lost, Felch admitted it personally."

"That old bucket!" Sirius shouted unwillingly. He smashed the wall hard and then said in a disgusting voice: "Even if there is a map, it may not work. Petr can block his name."

"Block? Have you used the human tracking spell?"

"Not only, the search curse, footprints appear, name magic, miniature simulation curse, concealment curse, anti-jamming curse, protective magic, and later it also gathered transformation, divination and alchemy...too many things."

Felix looked at Sirius in surprise, and he himself only mastered some of the spells.

Sirius explained: "At first, James brought a magic map production book from his home. We relied on this book to create the prototype of the live-spot map, of course there was no name that could move at that time. Later, we searched through the library and found spells that could lock traces from various corners and continued to add them. In the end, it was difficult for us to remember how many spells we used."

He spread his hands, "Do you know, when we saw Principal Dumbledore's name appear on the map, we thought we were invincible, and no one could escape the tracking of the map of the living spots, because you could escape the exploration of a certain magic, but you could not defend against the second, the third, the fourth..."

Felix couldn't help but stroke his hands and admire. If Sirius didn't say it, who would know these things? He even saw the shadow of the other three producers through Sirius.

A stunning magical creature appeared in the hands of four students who had not graduated.

The subsequent encounter is even more regrettable. The war interrupted their normal life trajectory. If Sirius had not mentioned it, even the existence of the map of the living spots itself would have been silently submerged in history.

"How do you four divide the work?" Felix couldn't help asking for more information. If it could be copied, it would definitely be no less than any known magic item.

Sirius glanced at him strangely, "James is good at transforming, I am good at spells, especially silent casting. Many spells are added after I learned them. Remus knows everything. He glues a bunch of scattered things together. As for the little dwarf Peter..."

He frowned and suppressed his disgust and said, "He is more careful and check for shortcomings and fill in the gaps."

Sirius said, and stopped thinking about it. After a while, he looked at Felix and said slowly: "Maybe he may not be able to block the map of the live spots."

"Why?"

"I remember there was a spell that only James and I knew. During the seventh grade Halloween holiday, we went home on our own and James found an interesting magic from the old house."

He looked at Felix with a light in his eyes, "It was a curse, or enslavement magic. No, inaccurate," he frowned, "it should be said to be a contract."

"Magic Contract?"

"That's right," Sirius said affirmatively. He glanced at the study door and said in a low voice: "It's a very old book. The authors participated in the war on the house elves. The wizard at that time invented a magic that was specifically used to enslave house elves."

Felix raised his eyebrows, and he said in a tone of exploration of magic: "What does this have to do with the map of the living spots? Wait, I thought of it, is it the connection between the master and the servant?"

Sirius was surprised at his keenness, "You are right. There is a close connection between the house elves and the master. This connection is deeply rooted in the bloodline and has been passed down from generation to generation. Now few people know about it, so the house elves will never betray their master."

That's not necessarily...

Felix thought to himself that there is always inferiority in magic slavery, and there is no eternal magic that cannot be cracked. Dobby is an example. Even the side effects of the Heart-Diamond, one of the three unforgivable mantras, have they been cracked by him?

Following this idea, for him, the Heart-Drilling Mantra is actually no longer effective. Pain? He has too many ways to block the pain. What is really terrifying about the Heart-Drilling Mantra is that it transcends the body and reaches the deepest pain in his mind.

And when he protects his memories layer by layer, the influence of the pyrotechnic mantra on him is extremely limited, and he can act as a disguise...

Sirius continued, "Think about it, the master can summon the house elves wherever he is. Oh, Azkaban can't do it. I've tried it, maybe the distance is too far..."

"Maybe the Ministry of Magic has included this part of the information and made corresponding defenses." Felix guessed.

"Anyway, James and I tried to summon part of this magic as the master's call. The house elves sensed the master's position into the map because of the contract. We designed a little trick," Sirius laughed happily. "When you walk into Hogwarts, you will sign a temporary blank contract by default, without any binding force, you can even refuse!"

Felix smiled and said, "The premise is that the person discovers this contract, but I think you will not let it take effect at all, but are in a state of waiting..."

"That's it!" Sirius said excitedly, and he let out a strange cry: "It's totally harmless, but your location will be exposed."

"The best thing is that Petrified Peter didn't know this. A few days after returning from the Halloween holiday, we decided to leave the map at Hogwarts and use Filch's hands to find the next master. Only the most adventurous students will appear in his office, and we also set some restrictions for this."

Sirius fell into happy memories, his eyes narrowed and murmured softly.

After a while, he said with a sad expression: "It's a pity that the map was lost."

Felix mused: "If you were asked to recreate a live spot map, can you do it? Lupin is also in school, and he might be able to help."

"I know he's here," Sirius said, thinking for a long time, "it will be hard to re-made, I don't remember many things..."

"We can try it together, I'm very interested in it."

"We?" Sirius looked at Felix in a daze.

Felix did not answer, he looked at the time, "It's still two hours before ten o'clock, it's all too late."

He said happily: "I'm going to take you to Hogwarts. Of course, I have to contact Principal Dumbledore first. Well, I may face the questioning of the Ministry of Magic. I will lied that I didn't catch you and let you run away. I don't know if anyone will believe it..."

Sirius stared at Felix, feeling that he was being harassed.

"Law, where is the portrait of Phoenias Black? I didn't see him in the row of portraits on the wall."

“…In the second bedroom on the right side of the platform on the second floor.”

Felix left with a step, and after a few minutes he returned, "It has been agreed that Dumbledore will let us act in a more secretive way." He gently touched the ring on his left hand with his wand and took out a candy box with the words "Duke of Honey" from it.

"What's this?"

"I haven't finished my Christmas gift from a little wizard yet, so I'm a little tired of it... But I think I can use it to pretend to be someone."

"You have cast the traceless stretching spell?"

"Oh, no," Felix asked in confusion: "Who will apply a traceless stretching spell in the candy box?" He said to the stunned Sirius, "I just happened to think of a suitable magic."
