The back is surrounded by Wumei Peaks, surrounded by mountains and peaks, and are connected in an orderly manner, forming a natural barrier for Shaolin Temple. Songshan is Taishi Mountain in the east and Shaoshi Mountain in the west, each with 36 peaks. The peaks are famous. The temple is located in the dense forest at the foot of Shaoshi Mountain, so it is named Shaolin Temple. In 1983, the State Council determined Shaolin Temple as a national key Buddhist temple. On May 8, 2007, the Songshan Shaolin Temple Scenic Area in Dengfeng City was officially approved by the National Tourism Administration as a national 5A-level tourist attraction.
