Chapter 2 A first exploration of Qiandao Lake(2/2)
I saw a bluestone road at the bottom of the water, and a very short adobe house like in the past. I also vaguely saw a collapsed stone archway. Colorful small fish and a large number of aquatic plants surrounded the stone archway. Look. It looks mysterious.
After inquiry, I learned that this water area used to belong to "Chayuan Town". The stone archway faintly visible under the water was a chastity archway on the North Street of Chayuan Town in the past. It is said that it was set up by locals for a woman named Liu during the Guangxu period. It's been a little over two hundred years.
The guide Lao Zhou told me that there are at least one or two hundred similar stone arches under Qiandao Lake. Some can still be seen a few years ago, while some can no longer be seen as the water level has risen in the past two years.
The boat rowed in the lake for a while, and suddenly, a strange "bang" sound came from the bottom of the boat!
I thought I had hit a rock, but unexpectedly, the man rowing the boat, Lao Zhou, changed his expression. He slapped the water with his oar! He yelled, "Dead fish! Get away! Even the locals dare to stop the boat!"
I asked if we hit a fish?
Lao Zhou said with a black face that it was just a fish! He also said that the fish here are generally bigger! Sometimes they will hit the boat!
When Brother Yu and I returned to the hotel, we found a tattered Chun'an County Chronicle from somewhere and were studying it.
Most of the Chun'an County Chronicles on the market are from the 1990 edition, but the first one to look at is the old County Chronicle from the Guangxu period. There are many notes on ancient buildings and places of interest in the County Chronicle.
Our treasure hunt is not a blind search! It is through on-the-spot investigation and consulting ancient books! Define an area and then search in this area.
For example, it is recorded in the old county annals that there used to be a place called "Xiaojin Mountain", and Huizhou people called it Beauty Island. There was a cave to the east of Xiaojin Mountain. Legend has it that it was Fangla's Tibetan Soldier Cave. There were hidden flowers in the cave that were not used back then.
Completed a large amount of military pay.
There is also a wooden bridge, which the locals call Tongqiao. Shang Ren's grave is located 30 meters north of the bridge. It is said that a few years ago when clearing the mud, stone figures and horses were accidentally dug out.
There is also such a description in the old county chronicle that caught my attention.
"There are many mountains and mountains, beyond the beautiful mountains, and the momentum is like a bow. Some gentlemen call it Fang's ancestral hall, thinking that it is a celebration, but it is actually a cemetery."
After some research, the boss and I agreed. The county chronicle described this place as the joint burial tomb of Fang Hong, the prefect of Danyang Jun in the Western Han Dynasty, and his wife.
Also sunk in the water is the thousand-year-old ancient temple "Xiaonanhai". There are thousands of gilt-bronze Buddhas of various sizes in the ancient temple. During the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang worked as a sweeping monk in Xiaonanhai. There is a Xiaonanhai on September 19th.
During the Opening of Light Festival, at that time, every Opening of Light Festival would attract tens of thousands of people to burn incense, pray for blessings and do business. Counting the time, this little Nanhai has sunk under the water for more than 50 years.
