Chapter 488

Jiang Min did not station in Shenshan County, but was stationed in the south of the city. A new village was built, called Chengnan Village. Due to the flat terrain and relatively fertile land, five forts were established to support each other.

After the Jin army destroyed, there were only less than 200 families left in Shenshan County. Jiang Min gathered these families together and set up two new forts between the county town and the south village. There were no troops stationed, and the people established township soldiers to defend them.

Jiang Min's arrangement was to concentrate half of the army in the five forts around the county town, and to farm and fight. There were fewer troops in the north, only Shibi Fort and Beiwang Fort, which assisted in the defense of the five forts in the middle. The rest of the army and the personnel from the base were stationed in the south of the city. The most convenient route for the Jin army to attack was to follow the Laohe River Valley and end up in the county town, which happened to be surrounded.

On October 15th, the sky was cloudy, and snowflakes fell in the afternoon. They scattered to the Dutou of each fort, and the army ordered the military orders to come to Chengnan Village to discuss matters. A few days ago, the winter clothes finally arrived and asked everyone to take them back.

In such a short period of time, the city wall of the south village had not been built yet. When everyone came, the soldiers were still working hard to the world.

Wang Zhongfu stood outside the gate of the village, watching the busy soldiers wearing only single clothes and sweating profusely. He said to Shu Jiming: "There is no news of the Jin army going south this year. Otherwise, the city has not been built yet, which is a big bad thing."

Shu Jiming said: "I heard that the Jurchens are not peaceful within, so they are afraid they have no minds."

As the two of them spoke, they entered the city. When they arrived outside the gate of the village hall, soldiers had already taken them to the room in the next yard. They helped them to arrange their luggage. The soldiers said, "Staff General Cao has ordered that you have settled them and you will go to the village hall to discuss matters."

The two agreed and sent the soldiers away, sat down and drank a pot of tea, and then came to the village hall together.

As soon as he entered the village hall, Cao Mo in front saw them and whispered loudly: "Shudu Head, Wang Jun Envoy, why did you come here? One came to count the winter clothes with me, and the other went back to bring a few personal soldiers, and bring the winter clothes back to the fort tomorrow!"

Wang Zhongfu said: "Oh, why are you sending it now? Dutou, go back and call a few personal soldiers, and I will go and reconcile with the staff!"

Shu Jiming agreed and turned around and went back.

Wang Zhongfu walked forward and heard Cao Mo say, "On October Cold Clothes Festival, we were going to send winter clothes. We are too far away in Hedong and the road is difficult to walk. We only sent the winter clothes two days ago. Today, Xiayuan, you will take them back, don't freeze the soldiers."

Wang Zhongfu agreed and picked up the winter clothes to see.

A brocade robe was a custom in previous years and was sold every year. It is similar to the regular clothes of later generations, worn by soldiers on a daily basis. However, this year, there is no such thing as cotton wool, but a cotton vest that is not too thick.

Holding the vest in his hand, Wang Zhongfu said: "What kind of clothes are this? I haven't had one in previous years."

Cao Mo said: "This is made of cotton! Don't look small, there is so much cotton inside! Because Hedong is too cold, Xiangyang has tried every effort to make one piece for each person and sent it from afar! Wear this one in winter and it won't be cold anymore!"

Wang Zhongfu shook his hands, feeling heavy. He said, "Cotton is not cheap! It makes Si worry!"

Cao Mo quickly looked through the account book and said, "You are fifty-six people, each with one set. I counted it and signed it here."

Wang Zhongfu said: "Staff, everyone is in different places now. They say they are recruiting themselves when they arrive. If they only receive fifty-six sets, wouldn't they not have cotton coats to wear when they recruit? This won't work!"

Cao Mo said: "I don't have that many cotton coats here. You can get fifty-six sets back first. After a few days, the second batch will be sent to you and then replenish them. Shenshan County is sparsely populated, so where is the easy place to recruit people?"

Wang Zhongfu said: "If there are less than a hundred people, there are always people who want to join the army in scattered areas. If there are not enough 100 sets, at least you have to send out a few more sets!"

How could Cao Mo agree? He only said that he would wait a few days before delivering the new cotton coat.

Soon, Shu Jiming brought his personal soldiers over and made a noise there. There was no way, so he had to get fifty-six sets back.

People from each castle arrived one after another, and it took more than an hour to get the cotton coat.

As the heads of the capital and the military envoy sat in the fort hall and was talking, Jiang Min came from behind. He glanced at everyone and said loudly: "I have finished sending the cotton coat. I still have something to discuss today. Everyone should sit down!"

Everyone hurriedly moved the stools and sat down in the hall.

According to the habit at this time, the main general should sit in the middle, while the rest of the personnel should stand or sit on both sides. Wang Xiaoli unintentionally promoted his habits in his previous life. Now, when the military meetings are held, the main general is sitting in the middle, while the rest are in front of the main general. This makes speaking much more convenient, but it also lacks many of the required rules, and the special status of the main general has also been weakened accordingly.

Seeing everyone sitting down, Jiang Min said, "You should be familiar with each other's forts for some time. Today I asked you to come, in addition to getting cotton coats, there are some things to talk about. You must hear it clearly and don't make various excuses in the future."

Everyone said promise.

Jiang Min said: "Jiang Zheng established this army and implemented a dual-master official system. Taking the most common regiment level as an example, the commander is responsible for combat, and the supervisor is responsible for the management of internal management. These two officials have the same level and have different work priorities. Because their work is somewhat similar to civil and military officials, it is generally called the military commander and the civil commander in the army. Our Hedong here is called the Guardian, but it is actually the organization of a regiment. When I came, Jiang Zheng personally told me that I will make decisions on all the things here alone and no longer have any other officials."

Speaking of this, Jiang Min's eyes were sharp and she looked at everyone quietly.

"If it were someone else, it would be appreciated by the boss and it might be of great use in the future. But, I tell you, our army is not. When doing things, the general is talking about giving you power and responsibilities. I have to take on both positions and have to bear the responsibilities of two people. It's just that because Hedong is the front line and there is no suitable candidate, so I can only do this."

In fact, it is not just that, but because the work on Hedong Road is too arduous, no one can take on this job except Jiang Min. Jiang Min knew in his heart that if he could develop on Hedong Road, he would definitely get Wang Xiaoli in the future. If he fails, it means that his actual work ability is problematic, which is hard to say. He is in Hedong alone, and his responsibilities are actually extremely heavy.
