Chapter 260: Unable to Ask (Stories Unable to Tell)

Life is never a happy or easy thing.

Shakyamuni Buddha said that there are eight sufferings in life: birth, old age, illness, death, meeting with enemies and hate, separation from love, and the five aggregates are burning, and seeking cannot be obtained.

The first four are physical pain, while the second four are mental pain.

Meeting with enemies and hatred means being with resentment and hatred, and being unable to get rid of it, which is a kind of pain; being separated from one's dear one's dear one is another kind of pain; being burning with the five evils means being color, feeling, thinking, action, and consciousness can block people's innate consciousness, so that they cannot be manifested, or a kind of pain; being unable to seek means being able to get what they want but never get, which is even more painful.

Later, when Master explained this passage to me, he said that the eight sufferings in life can be classified into one suffering, which means "not seeking".

When you are alive, you must have to live (not live or die); when you are old, you cannot get youth; when you are sick, you cannot get health; when you die, you cannot get eternal life; when you love separation, you cannot get reunion; when you meet with enemies and hate, you cannot get liberation; when you are full of the five aggregates, you cannot get purity. When you seek, you are desire. If you cannot get it, you are distress.

And this is probably the origin of my Buddhist name.

There is no "seeking", only "not allowed".

So is the life of "unable" no longer "hard"?

Once upon a time, there was a little novice monk in a temple with low incense. He has lived here since he had memories.

There is nothing wrong with this. Within the four walls is his entire world, and his master, uncle and senior brother are all his relatives.

Occasionally, the master takes him to watch TV once, which is the happiest thing in his life.

And the things that the pilgrims and senior brothers talked about outside the mountain seemed to him completely different world, as far away as stars hanging in the sky.

The temple where he is located is not closed all year round, but few people go out. I heard from my senior brothers that their small temple is in a mountainous area in the north. Because of its steep terrain, it is surrounded by barren and prehistoric forests. It is usually rare to travel, but if it is not necessary, few people go out.

Days passed day by day, and that year he was eleven years old; it was also that year that his master passed away.

For him, the death of his master was almost half the collapse of the whole world. He could not believe that the thin old man who always smiled would one day disappear from his life forever.

When the master's Dharma body was pushed into the incarnation kiln, Xiao Shah walked out of the temple gate for the first time in his life.

He left the temple to forget and to search.

Where is the Buddha mentioned by the master? Why did he let the master who was devoted to the Buddha die miserably after suffering such painful illness and torture?

Is this Buddha still the Buddha mentioned by the master or the Buddha in his heart?

The little novice monk kept walking forward. When he was sleepy, he would sleep on the stone for a while. When he was thirsty, he would drink a little spring water. When he was hungry, he would go to the forest ranger's house to eat steamed buns.

The forest ranger knew that there was a temple nearby, and occasionally monks and pilgrims passed by here, so he didn't take it too seriously.

One day later, he entered the deepest part of the forest.

There, he met a man.

The man seemed to be even more embarrassed than him. He was wearing a strange dress. When he saw Xiaoshami, he was startled, but after seeing clearly that he was single, he felt ecstasy.

This man claimed to be a hiker on the mountain hiking adventure. He got separated from the army two days ago and has now completely lost his way.

The little shaman had never seen a few people outside the temple, so he naturally believed in his words and handed him half of the steamed bun.

After swallowing the steamed buns voraciously, the man asked again, how could he leave this mountain?

The little novice monk told him that he was not familiar with the road here, and only knew that he would walk down the mountain along the temple gate, and there would be a small town more than ten miles away.

It has been two days since he came out. I don’t know what the temple is already anxious, so I thought that the appearance of this person might be the arrangement of the Buddha.

So he decided to take this "donkey donor" back to the temple first, and then ask his senior brothers to arrange for him to go down the mountain.

However, the donkey donor did not seem to be as eager as he said to go down the mountain. He was slow and slow along the way. The little novice monk could walk in one day, but they only walked half of the way they took the same time.

At noon the next day, both of them were so hungry, but it was late autumn and they couldn't even find green leaves, so there was nothing to eat.

Helplessly, the little novice monk had to change the route halfway and follow the direction in his memory to find the forest ranger who had given him two steamed buns.

Fortunately, there is a rugged path that pilgrims step on when entering the mountain, so they won’t deviate too much from the direction.

Finally, before dark they arrived in front of the small stone house.

The forest ranger is a very hard job. He has to stay for a week as soon as he enters the mountain before another forest ranger will take over him.

When the little shaman knocked on the door, he realized that the forest ranger was no longer the same day before yesterday. It seemed that he had just arrived these two days.

The forest ranger is an uncle in his 50s, with wrinkles on his face crisscrossing.

When he saw a teenage monk standing outside the door, he was stunned at first, then quickly welcomed him into the room and asked, "Mr. Little Master, why did you come here? Someone came to find you this afternoon."

The little novice monk replied vaguely: "I am about to go back to the temple, but it is too late. I want to make some vegetarian food here."

The forest ranger knew that the monks in the nearby temple were all ascetics, and now the moon was dark and the wind was high outside, so he had to agree.

When the little novice turned back to find the donkey donor, he found that he was dodging and refused to come in. Later, he saw the forest ranger take out steamed buns and roasted corn and couldn't help it and entered the stone house.

The forest ranger was stunned when he saw the clothes he was wearing, then looked at his face carefully, and then naturally took him a portion of food.

The donkey donor ate half of the steamed bun of Xiaoxiaoji in a few days. He was already so hungry that he ate his portion in three bites. In the end, he ate most of the littlexiaoji.

The forest ranger looked at them quietly after finishing their meal and said he wanted to go out for patrol, so he walked out with a flashlight.

As soon as he stepped out of the door, he turned to the little novice monk and said, "My little master, I accidentally threw the radio into the nearby forest during the day. You are young and have bright eyes. Can you help me, the old man? It depends on it to pass the time at night."

The little novice monk did not hesitate and quickly stood up and said, "The donor is so serious. This is just a small task. How can I find it? I will go with you."

But when he got up, he vaguely saw that the donkey donor who was burping suddenly turned very ugly, and he even began to sweat on this cold night.

The little novice monk did not doubt that he was there, and followed the forest ranger and walked out.

The forest ranger seemed very anxious and took a quick step, so he had to trot to keep up.

But before he could walk a few meters away, he suddenly heard a burst of rapid footsteps behind him.
