Chapter 2893

Sokov is now the commander of the infantry brigade. Not only does he have thousands of commanders and fighters under his command, but he is also responsible for part of the defense line of the group army. If he really wants to go to the enemy's back to perform a special mission, he must report to the group army headquarters in advance so that Rokosovsky has some understanding of his whereabouts.

When the call reached the Army Command, it happened to be Rokosovsky answered the phone. After hearing Sokov's voice, he asked in surprise: "Misha, are you doing anything?"

"Comrade Commander, that's it." Sokov said hesitantly: "Didn't you just say that you found a unit of our army trapped behind enemy lines. Do you need me to send someone to contact us?"

"Yes, I did say this." After Rokosovsky said this, he suddenly realized that Sokov suddenly called himself, something seemed wrong, and asked quickly: "Misha, you don't want to perform this task in person, do you?"

"Yes, Comrade Commander." Sokov saw that Rokosovsky had guessed his intentions and did not hide it, and replied truthfully: "I discussed it with Chief of Staff Lieutenant Colonel Karsokov, and felt that it might be better for me to come forward to find this army in person."

After hearing Sokov say this, Rokosovsky hesitated for a moment. Although he felt that sending Sokov to find a unit would inevitably put the other party in danger. But then he thought that if he wanted to find this unit trapped behind enemy lines, Sokov might be the most suitable candidate.

He asked tentatively: "Misha, if I really want you to look for this army, are you sure you find it?"

"Comrade Commander, although I know their general location, I still have to try my luck if I can find them."

"Okay, you hand over the command of the troops to the deputy brigade commander and chief of staff, and then lead people deep behind enemy lines to find the whereabouts of the troops." Rokosovsky continued, "How many people are you going to take to carry on the mission?"

Sokov thought about it and replied: "I plan to take Lieutenant Zhukowen, Sergeant Zub and Churcin into Germans, and take a bus to the Lezica area to find the whereabouts of friendly forces."

"When are you going to set out?"

"Start before dawn," Sokov explained: "This way we will not be easily noticed by the enemy when we pass through the defense line of the two armies. If we are lucky, we should be able to establish contact with that force this afternoon."

As soon as he finished speaking, Rokosovsky suddenly asked: "You are only four of you, don't even carry one of the radio stations?"

Sokov's expression froze. If Rokosovsky didn't remind him, he would have forgotten this. His eyes moved back and forth on Morozova and Romanov, and he thought in his heart who should take to act with him.

Seeing Sokov looking at him constantly, Romanlov quickly pointed at him and signaled him to participate in the action.

But Sokov deliberately ignored him and said to the microphone: "Comrade Commander, I plan to let Comrade Morozova, the radio operator of the brigade department, follow us to act."

"Okay," said Rokosovsky: "You must go deep behind enemy lines. You will definitely encounter German inspections along the way. I will order people to prepare necessary documents for you to deal with German inspections."

"This is great." Every time Sokov pretends to be a German officer, he is most worried about checking his ID when he encounters an enemy, which can easily reveal his identity. However, with the fake ID provided by the headquarters, the situation is different: "I plan to dress up as a German major, Zhu Kewen is the second lieutenant, Zubu is the sergeant, and Chursin is the ordinary soldier."

"I understand, I will prepare the corresponding documents for you."

"I don't know when the ID will be delivered?"

"It will be delivered in an hour." Rokosovsky reminded Sokov on the phone: "Misha, be ready to set off as soon as possible."

After putting down the phone, Sokov ordered people to call Zhu Kewen, Zubu and Chursin over.

The three of them were awakened in their sleep, but without any complaints. Instead, they informed their soldiers and came to the tent where the brigade command was located.

"You are here!" Sokov saw the three of them entering the door and said to them: "I want to take you three to the enemy's back to carry out a special mission. I wonder if you are willing?"

Hearing Sokov's question, the three of them answered in unison: "I am willing, of course we are willing to follow the brigade commander to carry out the mission."

"Since you all want, the next thing will be easy." Sokov began to assign tasks to them: "Cursing, we seized a bucket car some time ago. This time we went deep into the enemy's backbone and took this car, and you will be the driver."

"Yes!" Chursin replied.

"Second Lieutenant Zhukowen." Sokov turned to Zhukowen again and said, "You go to the quarantine officer and get a few sets of German military uniforms. One set of major military uniforms is for me; one set of second lieutenant military uniforms is for you; one set of sergeant military uniforms is for Sergeant Zubu. The other two sets of military uniforms for ordinary soldiers, one set of one for Chursin and one for Morozova."

Zhu Kewen was stunned after hearing this, and then asked back: "Why do you still have to take the lesbians with you?"

"Yes, Comrade Lieutenant." Sokov explained to Zhukowen: "The purpose of our deepest entry behind enemy lines is to find a unit trapped in the enemy's rear. Comrade Morozova had contacted them, and the other party's telegrapher was familiar with her sending methods, so that we could contact them when we arrived at the place."

After Zhu Kewen took the military uniform, he asked Sokov for instructions: "Comrade Brigade Commander, should we change our military uniforms now, or wait until behind enemy lines before changing them."

Sokov naturally understood Zhu Kewen's implication. If he changed into German uniforms now, when crossing the defense line between the two armies, his commanders and fighters would easily mistakenly think that it was the enemy, and unnecessary misunderstandings might occur.

"Let's change it here," Sokov said. "Let Bobricov escort us through the line of defense later."

After everyone changed into German uniforms, they waited for a long time and finally waited for a staff officer from the headquarters.

The staff officer handed over a sealed brief bag to Sokov and said briefly: "Comrade Lieutenant Colonel, this is something the commander ordered to send you. He said that he wishes you peace and return safely after completing the mission."

After thanking the other party, Sokov opened the sealed file bag and took out five fake documents from it. Based on the photos on the documents, he distributed the documents to everyone, and at the same time reminded him: "From now on, you are the people on the documents, have you remembered?"

Everyone collected their own IDs and replied in unison: "Remember."

Under the escort of the guard company commander Captain Bobricov, Sokov and others successfully passed the position of the third battalion and entered the German controlled area.

Zhu Kewen asked in confusion about Sokov's choice of this path: "Comrade Brigade Commander, I think the road we took when we sneaked into the German transfer station last time was pretty good, and there were no enemies along the way."

"Second lieutenant," said Sokov seriously, "The road we took last time was not many enemies along the way. But don't forget that we took a German transfer station, killed all the people inside, and stole a batch of supplies. The enemy suffered such a great loss and would definitely strengthen the guards in this area. I dare say that if we walked this road again today, the patrol teams we encountered along the way would definitely be several times more injured than last time. Although we carried fake documents prepared by our superiors for us, the number of cross-checks was too high, and there was still danger of exposure. The road I chose to take seemed dangerous, but because the enemy had the advantage in this direction, they would never dream of us wearing makeup and penetrating in."

Zhu Kewen was half-believing and half-doubted about Sokov's statement. He always felt that he would encounter many patrols and checkpoints along the way from the defense zone of the Third Battalion, which was simply impossible to compare with the road he took last time.

The car drove forward for about ten kilometers along the muddy road, but was blocked by a checkpoint.

Seeing the checkpoint that appeared in front of him, the people in the car couldn't help but feel a little panicked. Sokov quickly said, "Don't panic, everyone, we are now dressed up as Germans, and we have fake documents made for us by our superiors. As long as we remain calm, we will not see the flaws by the enemy."

When the car approached the checkpoint, it was stopped by a German soldier carrying a rifle.

He came to the side of the car, bent down and looked into the car, then stretched out his hand: "Please show your documents!"

Zhu Kewen, who was sitting in the passenger seat, handed out his ID and said, "We are from the Brandenburg Group and are carrying out special tasks."

The German soldiers took Zhu Kewen's ID, compared the photos above with Zhu Kewen, handed the ID back over, and then made a gesture to his compatriot standing next to the guard post, signaling him to lift the crossbar in the middle of the road.

Chursing started the vehicle and quickly passed the checkpoint.

After passing the checkpoint, Zhu Kewen turned his head and looked back, saying in surprise: "I really didn't expect that we passed the German checkpoint so easily, but did not arouse the enemy's suspicion."

After hearing Zhu Kowen say this, Sokov smiled faintly and then said, "Comrade Lieutenant, don't forget that we are pretending to be Brandenburg. This is a special unit in the German army. Not to mention that we are wearing German uniforms, even if we are wearing Soviet uniforms, as long as we show our false identity, the Germans dare not easily stop us."

Zhu Kowen believed Sokov's statement very much. After all, when he was trapped in the city of Kiev last time, Sokov used this trick to let the German officers personally escort everyone through the river-crossing bridge blocked by the German army, and successfully jumped out of the German encirclement.

"Comrade Brigade Commander," Zhu Kewen asked tentatively: "Where is your old superior now?"

"My old superior?" Sokov was stunned at first after hearing this, and then he understood who Zhu Kewen was talking about, and asked back: "Are you talking about General Vrasov?"

"Yes, it's him." Zhu Kewen said with emotion: "He is an excellent commander, and I don't know which unit he is now serving as commander."

Sokov couldn't help but sneer in his heart, saying that the good commander in your mind was captured by the German army a few months later. Because of his unstable position, he finally surrendered to the Germans and became a shameful traitor. However, this incident had not happened yet, so he naturally could not say it.

However, since Zhu Kewen asked, he still had to say something perfunctory: "Since General Vlasov had served as the commander of the army before, I believe that the Supreme Command will arrange a suitable position for him according to his ability."

"Then tell me, does he still have a chance to become our superior?"

When Sokov heard Zhu Kowen say this, he couldn't help but tremble and thought to himself that if Vrasov becomes his superior again, it would be a nightmare for him. When Vrasov surrenders to the Germans, he will definitely be implicated.

"Comrade Lieutenant," Sokov looked at Zhu Kowen, who was sitting in the passenger seat, and asked with a stern face: "Do you think Commander Rokosovsky's level is not good?"

"How is this possible?" Zhukovin did not expect Sokov to suddenly ask this question and replied in a panic: "I think General Rokosovsky is also an amazing commander. Whether in Shepetovka, in Yarcevo or Smolensk, the troops he commanded have all dealt a heavy blow to the German army. Now he is shouldering the important task of defending Moscow. As long as he can achieve the final victory, I think he will definitely be recorded in history."

"You are right, General Rokosovsky will definitely be recorded in history in the future."

After Sokov said this, he was about to close his eyes and rest. Sergeant Zubu, who was sitting next to him, suddenly asked: "Comrade Brigade Commander, do you think that unit will stay there when we arrive at Lezicha?"
