Five hundred and thirty-eight. Montgomery's concerns!

Cairo, a world-famous city, has a continuous history of 5,000 years and is also the largest city in Africa and the Middle East. Cairo's Islamic history began in 642 AD, the tenth year after the return of the prophets and the Prophets. The name was Fistad at that time. The disciplined Arab army entered this ancient African city and built the first mosque, the Amur Mosque. In 969 AD, the Islamic Fatima Dynasty, Khalifamuyiz, sent general Zhao Haier to lead troops to attack the ancient city, renamed Cairo, and the Fatima Dynasty moved the capital here and began large-scale construction, many of which are still well preserved.

For 1,400 years, Cairo has been the political and cultural center of the Islamic world, and any invader must respect the Islamic culture and feelings there to exist.

Before, Cairo had already smelled the shadow of war infinitely, and the news that the German African Legion was about to occupy Egypt was spread everywhere, causing panic.

But when General Bernard Law Montgomery arrived, everything changed

The originally unstoppable German offensive was curbed and Egypt gained temporary security.

After the people's hearts were stabilized, Cairo returned to its previous appearance. However, British soldiers, Australian soldiers or New Zealand soldiers could be seen everywhere, somewhat destroying the atmosphere here.

A larger battle is being deployed in full swing.

In previous battles, because the Allies controlled the air and sea control power in the Mediterranean, the German troops stationed in North Africa were unable to continue to advance due to insufficient military and equipment supply, and were forced to move into strategic defense.

At the same time, Britain continued to strengthen its military strength in North Africa and actively prepare for war. Montgomery, commander of the 8th Army of the British Army, decided to launch a counterattack code-named "Zhezu" in late October. After breaking through the defensive areas of the German and Italian army, it quickly advanced westward to occupy the entire territory of Cyrenega, Libya and Tripolitania, and cooperated with the British and American coalition forces that were about to land in North Africa to expel all German and Italian troops from North Africa.

The big counterattack is opening

But at this time, a news that Montgomery was reluctant to hear came:

Marshal Ernst Alexand von Breme has arrived in Africa and replaced Marshal Kesseling's previous position, commanding all German and Italian troops in Africa.

This is a name that makes Montgomery afraid, and this fear comes from deep inside him

It was during World War I, when Montgomery was just a lieutenant. He was ordered to chase two Germans with Lieutenant Conker, and one of the two Germans was the Skeleton Baron who later became the world-famous Baron.

Not only did the British army in a company not catch the two Germans, they were killed and injured countless times in their hands. Even Montgomery was seriously injured. If it weren't for the timely rescue, General Montgomery would have been gone.

Montgomery was the first to be hit by the Skeleton Baron and the future Allied General.

The undefeated Skeleton Baron and the undefeated Skeleton Commando, these two people's names always circling in the hearts of Montgomery like nightmares

Now, he is back! He is back with the glory of the German soldiers and the pride of the Skeleton Baron!

He has achieved great success in Russia and in Türkiye. So what about in Africa? Will he still succeed?

Montgomery can't answer himself

Now he and Alexander, the commander-in-chief of the British Army in the Middle East, have heard some rumors that Germany intends to conduct some secret negotiations with Britain to end the war in Europe, but the tough British Prime Minister Mr. Churchill did not intend to accept such suggestions. He needs the British army to achieve greater victory on the battlefield to teach the arrogant Germans a lesson.

One Erwin Rommel would be difficult enough to deal with. If it weren't for his disconnection of supplies, Montgomery and his 8th Army would not have won the previous victory. Now, another Ernst Bryme has arrived.

Once the former captain and the team leader of these two skeleton commandos join forces, how powerful will they create?

And Montgomery knew more clearly that he was treated differently from Erwin Rommel. Once Ernst Breme appeared on the battlefield in Africa, Germany would give him all the assistance he needed at all costs:

No matter what he needs, Germany will transport tanks, fuels, and no matter what requests he makes, Germany will implement them without fail!

What's even more terrible is that Türkiye has now fallen into the hands of the Germans, and this country with an extremely important geographical location has changed hands, which has changed the situation on the battlefield.

The Germans who controlled the Turkey had too many strategic choices. They could attack the Soviet Union, threaten the Allied forces' power in the Mediterranean, and launch raids on Iran.

Iran is another lifeline for the Allied forces. The former king Reza Khan who ran out of Iran can even see hope for reset!

Reza Khan is absolutely loyal to Germany

In 1939, when World War II broke out, Reza Khan declared Iran neutrality. In 1941, Iraq established a pro-German regime, and the British and Indian troops responded quickly, landed in Iraq, occupied Baghdad, and overthrew the pro-German government. Although Reza Khan was not a formal ally of Germany, everyone knew his pro-German tendency. The next step was to deal with Iran.

In 1941, Germany invaded the Soviet Union. After the outbreak of the Eastern Front War, British Prime Minister Churchill immediately handed over an olive branch to Moscow. One of the agreements reached by Britain and the Soviet Union was to force Reza Khan to expel the Germans in Iran, because Iran could become an important channel for Britain to transport arms and medicines to the Soviet Union.

Reza Khan withstood the pressure of Britain and the Soviet Union, rejected their request, and immediately attracted a joint invasion between the two countries. In August 1941, Britain and the Soviet Union attacked Iran from two directions respectively. The two armies met in less than a month and issued an ultimatum to Reza Khan, forcing him to hand over all the Germans in Iran and close the embassies of Germany and its allies.

Reza Khan showed enough loyalty to the Germans. When the army was at the city, Reza Khan was unwilling to surrender and exile overseas. Before his trip, he packed a small bag of Iranian territory and passed the throne to his son Mohamed Reza Pahlavi.

The British and Soviet troops entered Tehran on September 17, 1841 and arrested all Germans there, including diplomats. Half of them were captured by Russia and mostly died tragically; the other half was exiled to Australia by Britain.

Germany at that time was powerless to do anything that happened in Iran, but now that they have obtained Turkey, their attempt to take action against Iran and help Reza Khan to restore the situation has become increasingly obvious.

In Turkey, the German team, the Bulgarian army, the Yugoslav army and the Free Turkish army are frequently mobilizing, and a large number of troops gathered on the border between Turkey and Iran and are ready to attack Iran anytime and anywhere. The former Iranian king, Reza Khan, also arrived in Türkiye in September.

The Soviet Union was confronting the German army in Russia, and the British army wanted to focus its main force on Africa. It was difficult for the British and Soviet troops in Iran to resist the attack from the Axis team.

Once Iran falls into the hands of the Germans again, the allied passage for aid to the Soviet Union will be completely cut off.

Not only that, the German army could also take advantage of the situation to advance rapidly, and then occupy Saudi Arabia, Jordan and other places to complete the siege of Egypt.

By then, the Allies were really out of reach in Africa

Therefore, the most important thing to do now is to completely defeat the German African Legion as soon as possible and lay the foundation for the Allied forces' advantages in the African battlefield, otherwise the initiative on the battlefield will be completely in the hands of the Germans.

But, how can we defeat the Skeleton Baron? What actions will the Skeleton Baron do in Africa? Montgomery was full of concern about this.

Alexander, commander-in-chief of the British Army in the Middle East, saw Montgomery's concerns: "Bernard, don't worry, in my opinion Ernst is a human, not a real God. The African Legion has suffered a crushing defeat. Even if Ernst is really in command of the battle himself, he will not be able to win."

"No, Alexander, you don't know Ernst too much." Montgomery said in a silence: "He can always win unexpectedly on the battlefield and turn disadvantages into advantages. In the previous war, this has been fully proven. He became a general in just the shortest time, relying on one victory after another. He said something unpleasant. I doubt whether we can defeat him."

Alexander shrugged.

In his impression, Montgomery was a general with extremely firm will. He could always deal with any setbacks calmly, but what he said now makes people feel a little frustrated.

Montgomery stood in front of the map, and his eyes were always on the map. After a long time, he slowly said: "Turkey, Turkey, Turkey. Our reaction in Turkey is too slow. Now, this place with such an important strategic value has been lost, but we can't tell where the German army will launch an attack on the Soviet Union first? Or Iran?"

"Iran is more likely." Alexander immediately said: "If Iran loses it again, the Soviet aid will be completely cut off. By then, the entire huge battlefield will be completely divided into several pieces, and our ties with the Russians will be cut off."

"Yes, Iran." Montgomery sighed heavily.

The German army is going to take the lead in launching an attack on Iran. Judging from the current intelligence, there is no objection. The key question now is how long does it take for the German army to occupy Iran.
