081 Difficulties in Adapting TV Dramas

Yasukami Tamakawa is a producer of TBS. He not only has two variety shows with high ratings, but also has rich experience in TV series production.

When "Dragon Sakura" first started to be serialized, his eyes lit up and he was very optimistic about this comic.

The TV drama industry is fiercely competitive. In order to increase the ratings, major TV stations have spared no expense to find excellent scripts. Excellent comics like "Dragon Sakura" with great potential for change are of course the targets for TV stations to compete for.

After knowing that the author of "Dragon Sakura" was Qin Han who once sold him "Xinbao Island", he immediately decided to contact and negotiate with the other party as soon as possible. Compared with other TV stations, he had some friendship with Qin Han and could gain the upper hand.

"Teacher Qin Han, I think "Dragon Sakura" is a very excellent work. If it is adapted into a TV series in person, it will also be very popular. Do you have any intention in this regard?"

"I am certainly happy to make more money and let the work be known to more people. But isn't it too early to talk about live adaptation now? "Dragon Sakura" hasn't even released a single-line version."

"Not early at all, not early at all." Tamakawa Yasukino said quickly, "The sooner this kind of thing is determined, the better. Our TBS is very sincere. If you want, we can make an appointment to call President Hojo and discuss together."

Hojo is the vice president of Shiratsuki Club who is specifically responsible for copyright expansion. He is indeed responsible for the adaptation of TV series.

When it comes to Cao Cao, Cao Cao will arrive.

The two were chatting, and Vice President Hojo with a shiny bald head appeared from somewhere and joined the conversation between the two.

"Vice President Hojo, we are talking about the adaptation of the TV series "Dragon Sakura".

"Is that so? This is a good thing. If TBS is interested, our Baiquan Club will of course be willing to cooperate."

Although the two chatted enthusiastically and adapted from "Dragon Sakura" into a TV series is in line with the common interests of the publishing house and the TV station, there are differences when talking about specific matters.

Yasukinosa Tamakawa hopes that "Dragon Sakura" can be TV dramatized as soon as possible. Fortunately, the five major private TV stations will be one step ahead. At the specific time point, it is best to broadcast it in the spring next year.

However, doing so is obviously not good for the publisher.

If the TV series "Dragon Sakura" is broadcast next spring, at that time, the comic version of "Dragon Sakura" will have at most 2 to 3 volumes of single-line versions, and the progress will obviously not keep up with the TV series.

Then, the solution is either the original plot of the TV series, or the original author spoils in advance and uses the subsequent plot of the comic to the TV series.

If the original is created, then the quality of the TV series may be difficult to guarantee. If the quality is poor, it is likely to affect the reputation of the original work in turn.

If you spoil the storyline of the TV series exceeds the original work, it will have a great impact on the sales of the original work, whether it is a single book or a magazine.

"I will never agree with the original plot of the TV series." Qin Han also expressed his attitude.

The main purpose of his painting "Dragon Sakura" is to give the two girls a chance to help them go further in their acting careers. If the TV series caused bad comments due to random fabrications, it would drag down the evaluations of the starring actors, wouldn't it be a mistake?

Whether in the past life or this world, there are many things that adapt and destroy the original work. Although "Dragon Sakura" is not a completely original comic of Qin and Han dynasties and "draws" on works from previous life, it is still impossible to make people change it casually.

Seeing that Qin Han was opposed, Tamakawa Yasukino took a step back: "Since Teacher Qin Han opposed it, I won't consider the original plot plan. However, I hope your club can fully consider the mood of our TV station and make "Dragon Sakura" live as soon as possible."

"I also know that TBS has its own difficulties, but the key to this kind of thing depends on the progress of the comics, right, Teacher Qin Han? Now "Dragon Sakura" serializes four chapters in a month and eighty pages. On average, it can be released in a single volume in two and a half months. It is already very fast, comparable to the weekly serialization of those young comics. If you accelerate, Teacher Qin Han may not be able to bear it." Vice President Kitajima said.

Half of the words of Vice President Kitajima were right.

The creation speed of 80 pages a month is indeed very fast. However, for the Qin and Han dynasties, it is far from being "unbearable".

There is a level 9 "creation speed" skill and an elf pen that works automatically. Even if there is a single volume per month, Qin and Han dynasties will be fine.

But if you really have such a big picture, the magazine may not be happy.

Baiquan Club spent a lot of money to invite Qin Han, and finally owned a comic with signs of popularity. Of course, I hope that "Dragon Sakura" will be serialized in "young_animal", the longer it will be, the better. In this way, the magazine sales can be maximized and benefits the publisher.

Besides, the number of pages of magazines is limited. If your comics alone occupy dozens or hundreds of pages, what should other cartoonists do? Readers who want to read as much content as possible will not be happy.

It was just a matter of exploring the verbal talk. But in the end, a deputy president of a publishing house, an original author, and a TV producer, the more he talked, he became more and more deeply, and finally he really discussed the details of "Dragon Sakura" as a real person.

Yasukami Tamakawa asked: "Teacher Qin Han, how long is the Dragon Sakura in your plan?"

"Dragon Cherry" in his previous life has a total of 21 volumes, which have been serialized from 2003 to 2007, and is also considered a long comic.

In order to adapt the TV series, Qin Han modified the plot and deleted the extra characters and plots, but it takes at least 10 to 12 volumes to finish the whole story with beginning and end.

After listening to Qin Han's answer, Tamakawa Yasukino pondered for a moment and said, "Teacher Qin Han, if the length of the comic is about 10 volumes, then the TV series will start preparing next summer. How about the autumn broadcast? In this way, when the TV series is over, the comic will almost come to the finale. Then, I believe that the sales of the comics and the ratings of the TV series will be greatly improved!"

"Producer Tamakawa, your idea is indeed very good. But according to this time plan, unless Teacher Qin Han can serialize two hundred pages a month and issue a single volume... Such work intensity may be..."

Vice President Hojo did not agree with Yasukino Tamagawa. In addition to worrying that the creation speed of Qin and Han could not keep up, the most important reason was that Qin and Han would be expected to be as long as possible for the serialization of "young_animal".

He even used the trick of getting out of the way, and the cartoonist who had just invited him finished the comic after drawing less than a year. He patted his butt and left, and no one would be willing to do so.
