Chapter 25 Mysterious Footprints

After Miss Ke Yao said that it was reasonable for the detective to do everything, in an atmosphere where the things of a scholar were called stealing, Su Mei tried one by one with the keys she got, and finally opened the drawer of the dressing table.

In the first drawer is the jewelry box that Lu Yuan and Su Mei are familiar with. Even if it is not opened, Lu Yuan and Su Mei can guess that there are some of the most expensive jewelry inside. When thinking about this, Ke Yao had already opened the jewelry box and saw that it was indeed dazzling inside. The most conspicuous one was the sapphire necklace on the top.

It was the one that Lu Yuan and Su Mei had seen.

"It seems that the Viscountess did not take her treasures before leaving." Ke Yao frowned and said, "The Viscountess is a person who likes gems more than life."

"Maybe the Viscountess did not leave voluntarily." Lu Yuan said behind Ke Yao.

"Let's take a look at other drawers."

Su Mei looked at Ke Yao, and after Ke Yao nodded, Su Mei began to try to open the second drawer.

After the second drawer is opened, there are a stack of neat letters and invitations inside, all sealed with good hot paint and gold powder. Just by opening the drawer, you can smell a faint fragrance.

Ke Yao took out the letters and checked them, then shook his head and said, "These letters and invitations are basically normal social interactions in the upper class, and there is nothing unusual."

Su Mei nodded, then opened the last one, and the bottom drawer, and saw that there was a very exquisite leather cover notebook inside. : :

Ke Yao took out the notebook and opened it, and immediately pursed his lips: "This is the Viscountess' diary."

"I believe there must be some important information here, and it is obvious that Officer Jones's previous browsing search did not find this diary."

"But this diary is too long, and we can't finish reading these diaries in this very short time."

"Can we take the diary away?" Lu Yuan said: "It's like Officer Jones takes away the precious gems."

"Taking away evidence privately is not a detective's quality." Ke Yao sighed: "But I always feel that this case is very strange."

"How can scholars be considered stealing?" Lu Yuan said: "I vote for Miss Ke Yao."

"I always feel like you are instigating me to do something bad." Miss Ke Yao sighed, and then silently put the diary in her arms: "I'm all for the Viscountess."

"By the way, are there any additional discoveries?" Lu Yuan looked at Miss Ke Yao put away her diary and then asked.

"There are some suspicious things." Miss Ke Yao said.

"You guys look here."

As he said this, Ke Yao led Lu Yuan and Su Mei to the window. The window was half open, and you could see Beckland in the fog and Hyde Park looming. It rained lightly last night in Beckland, so the ground behind the window was damp mud, and you could clearly see a string of unobstructed footprints extending into the depths of the garden.

"Looking from here, someone came to the back of the window last night?" Lu Yuan pinched his chin and looked at Su Mei: "When did it rain yesterday?"

"It's probably between 10:00 and 12:00 in the evening." Su Mei said.

"Then these footprints were left after at least ten o'clock." Lu Yuan pursed his lips: "Did it be that the Viscountess was really kidnapped?"

"This requires further information confirmation, but now we need to figure out who the person who came here last night was." Ke Yao said.

"Do you have any additional discoveries in this room?" Ke Yao continued to ask.

"It should be gone." Lu Yuan shook his head and said, "The useful information in this room is not as much as I imagined."

"Except those gems that shine to the eye."

"By the way." Lu Yuan looked at Ke Yao: "Can we take away a few gems from the bed?"

"Why?" Ke Yao looked at Lu Yuan and asked: "Detectives are not a profession to steal."

"I always suspect that the Viscountess' disappearance is related to these weird gems," Lu Yuan said. "Besides, these gems are not of high quality. I don't think that Viscountess with such high taste will pay for these inferior gems."

"So I'm very confused."

"Okay." Miss Ke Yao nodded: "You can take away one piece, or two pieces, but not too much."

Lu Yuan nodded. When he came, he had prepared some bags for evidence collection. These bags were specially selected transparent plastic evidence collection bags, so Lu Yuan took a few inferior gems of relatively small sizes and different varieties and put them in the evidence collection bag, and then put them in the suitcase.

"What are you going to do next?" As a detective who is not that professional, Lu Yuan chose to ask Miss Ke Yao for advice.

"After investigating the physical evidence at the first scene, I asked for evidence at that time." Ke Yao said: "I am quite familiar with the servants of the Viscount Mansion. Or I will investigate the evidence, and you will investigate the whereabouts of footprints at the window."

"Of course, I followed Miss Ke Yao's instructions." Lu Yuan said.

Although Lu Yuan and Miss Mary are still familiar, they are limited to Miss Mary. Since Ke Yao and the Viscountess are still quite close friends, it is definitely more appropriate to ask Miss Ke Yao to ask.

After the decision, the three of them walked out of the bedroom. Because of Miss Ke Yao, they were not searched, so they could be taken out without any danger, both gems and notebooks. After going out, Ke Yao went to chat with the servants of the Viscount Mansion as planned, while Lu Yuan and Su Mei walked around the garden to find the whereabouts of the footprints.

"It seems to be a pair of leather boots." Lu Yuan said as he looked at the footprints.

"Well, let's follow the footprints and see where he leads to." Su Mei nodded and said, "Fortunately we came early and no one else came to destroy this boot print."

"Or the owner of the leather boots didn't care much, or was not aware of it."

"This is good news for us," Lu Yuan said. "Let's look at where it leads."

So Lu Yuan and Su Mei followed the traces of the leather boots, but unexpectedly, the end of the trail did not leave the fence of the small garden, but winded to the area where the servant's room was.

It was Mary who once brought them to the servant's room.

And the two of them heard familiar sobs in one of the servant's room.
