Chapter XXIII The Disappearance of the Viscountess

Butler David in front of him looked very anxious, not as calm and steady as he had when he first came here.

"What happened?" Su Mei asked softly.

"Please go and notify Miss Ke Yao quickly. This is a very urgent entrusted task." David said anxiously.

At this moment, Lu Yuan and Ke Yao also walked over one after another.

"What happened?" Miss Ke Yao pressed the hat on her head and said.

"The Viscountess is missing!" David said in a low voice, but even after he lowered his voice, he could still feel his shock and fear.

"What?" Ke Yao was also shocked.

"Do you need me to go there now?" Miss Ke Yao said seriously.

"It's necessary, very necessary!" David said repeatedly: "I just invite you to rush to Viscount's House to assist in the investigation immediately. Although we have notified the police officer of Beckland, I personally still believe in your experience and knowledge more."

"Okay." Ke Yao nodded, and Lu Yuan and Su Mei looked at each other: "Can we allow us to go with Miss Ke Yao? At least we won't cause trouble for Miss Ke Yao."

Ke Yao looked at Lu Yuan and Su Mei, and seemed to think for a moment: "Okay."

...

...

Fortunately, the carriage in Viscount's Mansion was big enough, so Lu Yuan, Su Mei, Ke Yao and David would not feel any crowded in the carriage, and they were completely different from ordinary public carriages.

"Can you tell me about the disappearance case first?" In the car, Ke Yao looked at Butler David every second.

David pondered for a moment, then said, "This is the thing. Since yesterday morning, the Viscountess said that she was not feeling well, so she just had to deliver food to the door of her room."

"And this morning, we found that the food that was placed at the Viscountess' door last night was not moved, and we anxiously shouted the Viscountess' name, but no one responded. Finally, we ventured to knock the door open, but the Viscountess had disappeared."

Speaking of this, David pursed his lips: "And the scene in the room made us all very uneasy, so we called the police immediately. At the same time, I remembered that Miss Ke Yao's knowledge and experience might help us, so I asked you for help as soon as possible."

"Are you very uneasy?" Ke Yao frowned: "What kind of scene is it that makes you feel uneasy?"

"This is hard to say." David frowned and said, "It's hard to describe it in words, but when you arrive at the scene, you will understand. I think the police have arrived now, so we can just follow us."

Seeing that David was a little reluctant to say it, Ke Yao didn't force it. After all, for detectives, others' testimony can only be heard for a moment. All the truth can only be judged by their own hands and eyes based on clues at the scene.

After nothing happened, the four of them quickly arrived at the Viscount Draenei's Mansion next to Hyde Park in a carriage. The Viscount's Mansion was still so grand and beautiful, but now there are several police carriages surrounding the door.

"By the way." Before entering, Miss Ke Yao looked at David: "Have you informed Mr. Viscount of this matter?"

"Mr. Viscount is still hunting in the manor and has not received a telegram for a while." David shook his head and said.

Ke Yao sighed and said nothing.

The three chose to follow David into Viscount Draenei's Mansion.

Compared to when she came here on the first day, the decorations did not change much, but the servants and police were very nervous. However, Miss Ke Yao still had a good relationship with the police. She frequently greeted the police she knew and also received a reward.

"Are you here to investigate too? Miss Ke Yao?" An elderly police officer with a calm face looked at Ke Yao and said.

Ke Yao nodded: "Long time no see, Inspector Kui, is it you who came to investigate in person this time?"

"This is impossible. After all, the Viscountess has a lot of friendship. If something happens to her, our police station cannot afford it." Inspector Kui shook his head and said.

"So what's the situation now?" Ke Yao continued to ask.

"You'll know when you go in and take a look." Officer Kui said without saying anything: "Now Detective Jones is investigating inside, you can cooperate."

"Then I can't thank you more." Ke Yao reached out and shook hands with Officer Kui, and looked at Officer Kui with his head down and kissed the back of her hand.

Then Ke Yao took Lu Yuan and Su Mei through the police blockade and continued to walk towards the upper floor of the villa to climb the rotating stairs. You could see the eyes of the uneasy maids, and Lu saw Viscountess Draenei's room, the room he used to perform oriental magic, now a circle of policemen.

Almost the entire Viscount Draenei's house was occupied by police, and it can be imagined how sensational the Viscountess' disappearance was for Beckland.

"Please let it go." Miss Ke Yao looked at the police in front of him and said. Because Miss Ke Yao and Inspector Kui were old acquaintances, these policemen did not make things difficult for Ke Yao. They pushed the door and walked into the room. What caught their eyes was the Gothic bed with silk curtains. A man in a police uniform half-kneeled on the carpet to check what was going on.

At this moment, Lu Yuan felt Su Mei pulling him gently behind him.

Lu Yuan turned around and saw Su Mei reaching out and pointing to the detective's hand gently.

Lu Yuan immediately saw that the detective was quietly stuffing a few beautifully-looking gems on the carpet into his pocket.

Lu Yuan frowned, but said nothing. At the same time, the two saw the decorations of the Viscountess' bedroom again.

Compared with the last time, the decorations this time were not very different. The whole room was filled with a strange smell. On the most conspicuous large bed, there were gems of various sizes, including rubies, amethyst, jasper, and agate. They were colorful and of various types, and some even rolled on the carpet.

Apart from that, there is nothing worth noting about, such as the Baroque dressing table. Lu Yuan remembers that the Viscountess' jewelry box is inside, there are also a stuffed desk and bookcase, a row of wardrobes and a concealed and exquisite bathroom, a half-open window facing the backyard of the mansion, and you can see a foot from Hyde Park.

Every time I see this room, I have the idea that it is worthy of being a mansion.

At this moment, Detective Jones, who was just picking up gems on the ground, stood up and looked at Ke Yao: "So it's Detective Ke."

"Sure enough, wherever there is a case, you can see you."
