Chapter 303 Weng Li'an
When something begins, most people don't think of how it ends with it.
The London prefect issued recruitment actors covering all England, Ireland and Scotland, and in the end, all except a few students from Cambridge were defeated.
Hundreds of unsuccessful candidates went around and finally entered the Chinese literature school in Westminster Temple.
This may be the most successful enrollment since the Ming Dynasty established the Nanyang Military Palace and established the first Chinese literature school overseas.
People just look at it with their eyes and realize what role can a skilled Chinese play in London.
The real ruler of Anmin Theater was not the owner of the old theater in the past, the old James, who was named Jinmi; nor was the playwright Christopher Marlow and Robert Green.
Instead, William Shakespeare, who is unknown and has no experience in performing scripts.
Just because he can speak Chinese and English.
Even if you don’t master it that well, you can have some simple conversations with Tang Xianzu, which is enough to understand the core of the story Tang Xianzu wants to express.
The first drama to be moved into the Anmin Theatre of Hampton Palace is called "The Book of London". Everything from Puley to London, from Puley to London, tells the tragic life of a small person in this war years with the eyes of the protagonist of the story "Wen Li'an".
The script was written by Tang Xianzu, translated by Weng Li'an, and added the plot he wanted, and was finally given to Christopher Marlow and Robert Green.
The story unfolds from the perspective of Belle and a girl in London, outside Plymouth, where they play the daughters of a pair of new business aristocrats.
Using what they saw and heard, they explained that the Black Death attacked, the nobles fled out of the town and blocked them, and the merchants from the Ming Dynasty treated their illnesses. At their homes outside their suburbs, their father was ordered to go outside the city to provide food and clothing for the nobles who were seeking refuge.
Against this background, the next scene takes place in Plymouth City. The young civilian Weng Li'an has almost morbid piety towards the church. Seeing the Black Death ravage in the city, he listened to the instigation of the bishop of the church and tried to kill Taoist Cao who came to treat the disease with a musket, but failed to get angry because of the inferior musket.
The people were in a state of great public opinion, and wanted to be independent in Puzhou and revenge the nobles who abandoned them. Weng Li'an was wrapped in it and tried to assassinate Cao Changqing for the second time. With Cao Changqing's trust, he buried it with gunpowder on the second floor of the county government office, and finally injured Cao Changqing.
Taking advantage of the opportunity of the Ming army fighting outside the city, Weng Li'an and his accomplices escaped from the city, but the narrator would think for him why the nobles who ruled them abandoned the people, why the church was helpless in the Black Death, and why did they hurt Cao Changqing who helped them?
Outside the city, Weng Li'an and several of their accomplices were hungry and cold. They entered the manor of Belle's sisters to beg for some food, but were beaten out by Belle with a stick. Their words were filled with contempt for ordinary people like Weng Li'an.
Weng Li'an did not fight back and took his friends away from Puli.
The Belle sisters were soon finished, because shortly after Weng Li'an and others left, they warmly received two noble young men, but were defiled, and their lives were taken and finally thrown into the well.
"What? I'm going to be thrown into the well in front of all the audience?"
Belle listened to Weng Li'an's statement and widened her eyes and screamed: "I will die!"
"No, no, no, it's all this well." Weng Li'an took her to a scene stage in Hampton Palace's second act, pointing to the well on the ground and said: "It's a fake well with a quilt covered under the stage. You can climb to the backcourt after you go down."
Belle then calmed down: "I'll try to dance a few times before the opening, which must be very exciting for the audience."
"Right? I think so too. Lord Tang's original script was to ask you two to jump into the well by themselves after being defiled. I was very confused about this and thought it would be better to be killed and thrown into the well."
"What about the back?"
Weng Li'an opened the script and continued to look at it, "Your father came back and found that the family was in a mess. He knew what you had happened to others and decided to go to London to accuse the Queen; and I, after saying goodbye to you, embarked on the road to London."
"On the road, Marlow will play the tortured slave who cannot stand the oppression of the noble master. He cut off the master's nose and ate it, threw the master's wife out the window, and finally mocked God and committed suicide."
"Green would play a cobbler who was summoned by the nobles because of the war. When the war was unfavorable, he was fled by the nobles himself and pushed him in front of him. The Ming soldiers played by Mr. Wei spared their lives, but they betrayed Mr. Wei for their old master and killed him. However, when they returned to their hometown, the leather shop had been swallowed up by the nobles and left nothing for him."
"Your father accused the Queen in London, but was deported for insufficient evidence; outside London, I, Green, your father, and the three of them met, and we will see the tyranny of the royal family, the pride of the nobles, the chaos of the law, the insult of corrupt officials, and the bullying of fools."
"These go east to die, west to die, waiting to die, rebellion is also death, just to lead one: to die silently endure the domination of the nobles, or to follow the Ming army to fight to the death, to overthrow the old Tudor nobles and to establish a country where our common people rely on learning to select officials to rule."
Weng Li'an nodded slowly: "This is a problem."
After saying that, he closed the script and said, "I still have a love in the story, but the story originally arranged by Lord Tang is not very consistent with the cultural traditions of England. Where can anyone sleep with only one person in their lifetime and never marry for life? I think this needs to be considered again."
"But even if I don't join my love story, the script is already perfect. It's just that Green and Marlowe can be polished and performed on stage."
"Although Lord Tang has also prepared a band for the performance, he is currently organizing music and lyrics."
Belle nodded one after another and said, "My friend's timber factory is also busy making stages recently. I heard that this drama will not only be performed at Hampton Palace in the future, but will also travel around the country."
"There is still a chance to perform in France, Spain and even the New World in the future, playwrights, actors, bands, this is really an unprecedented change!"
Weng Li'an also had a satisfied smile on his face.
He had a premonition that this script would likely become the most influential drama in history and set a precedent for an industry.
More importantly, out of Tang Xianzu's reserve, although the prefect completed almost half of the entire script, he did not intend to sign the script or performance, but gave all the credit to him, Weng Li'an.
In addition, the script written by Tang Xianzu is also planned to be signed by him in the future.
The prefect doesn’t care about money or fame, which makes Weng Li'an so happy.
He doesn't care about his reputation behind him, but he cares a lot about his wealth in front of him.
