Chapter 28 Confession

In the next few days, the weather turned cold again.

Everyone was complaining that Evan, who had already entered hibernation mode, had to wait until Virginia smashed the door before getting up every day. The energetic Dora and Dorothy were extremely looking forward to a "White Christmas" this year.

Carlson was very satisfied with the conditions in the laboratory and quickly entered the working state. Evan spent a day discussing with Carlson about the development of the laboratory's R&D plan, from improving the performance of the circuit to developing new materials, to optimizing the copying process, which was detailed and accurate. In order to speed up the progress, Evan asked Carlson to recruit more assistant researchers, and Carlson agreed. Through the previous relationship, Carlson quickly recruited people.

After the laboratory was on track, Carl turned his focus on the preparations for Magic7.

The first thing he had to do was to be a headhunter and recruit people. This job was not difficult, but it took time. It took a while to collect information.

Carl also published a job advertisement in the newspaper, but the results were minimal. It was not that no one submitted a resume, but that most of them did not meet the requirements.

Such an inefficient way of recruiting people makes Evan, who sees vomiting on paper resumes, particularly misses the Internet era.

Evan goes out every day, like an office worker. Linda meets him and wants to go out with him several times, but Evan blocks her from going back. Linda is really curious, but in order not to make Evan angry anymore, she restrains her temper and does not do anything randomly. Virginia just needs someone to help me learn mathematics, and Linda, who is already studying mathematics by herself, takes over Evan's job.

Virginia has given up on this SAT test in December. With her current math scores, her scores will not improve much this time. She is going to put everything on the one in March next year. If she doesn't get well, she will give up because that means that it will be a waste of time to continue.

It is embarrassing to be "teached" by younger brothers and sisters who are two grades lower than themselves. This has not improved their grades yet, and Virginia feels that she is almost shameless to be this sister.

On the 22nd, on the day of the Winter Solstice, Nina fulfilled her promise and took a group of children of all sizes to choose new clothes. Evan wanted to leave it alone, but was shocked by Nina's eyes. As a last resort, Evan had to go back to Oakland and went to the long-lost private garment store - Friesman House.

The clothes at Friesman House are tailor-made, and the Warren family is an old customer here. Since Earl worked as a deputy prosecutor here, his formal attire was basically made by the tailor here. Until Earl married Nina, had children, and worked in other places, and this habit did not change.

In a sense, Oakland is Earl Warren's "Dragon Revival".

In 1920, Earl Warren came to Oakland as deputy prosecutor, and worked for five years. During this period, he met Joseph Knowland, who was extremely appreciated by him, and formed his political style - opposing corruption and severe punishment of crime.

Norland was the Republican boss at the time and the founder of the Oakland Tribune. With Norland's guidance and help, Earl Warren was promoted step by step, starting from a district attorney, then to the chairman of the California Republican Party, followed by the California Attorney General, and finally successfully defeated then Governor Olson in the election three years ago (1942) and was elected as the 30th California governor.

Going back to the topic, Friesman House has body figure data for Warren's family, so the clothes are all done. Evan and others only need to choose one they like and try it on on-site to see if there is anything that needs to be changed. After all, the children grow up quickly and are afraid that the existing data will be distorted.

After Evan picked up his clothes as fast as possible, he waited quietly in the rest area next to him. The rest area was equipped with black tea, snacks, fruits and a complete newspaper and magazine for leisure.

Not to mention, the dim sum tastes pretty good.

While tasting black tea, Evan watched his relatives go back and forth between the fitting room and the clothes hanger, thinking to himself: "Isn't it just an option for clothes? Is it necessary to be so troubled and entangled?"

"It's okay for Virginia and the others, girls are naturally keen on beauty. But what happened to you, Robert, is it necessary for you, a boy to compare a bow tie in front of the mirror more than ten times? No matter how you look at them, they all look the same!"

"No, if this continues, Robert must go astray'...I have to do something."

In order to "correct" Robert, Evan decided to give him some advice.

"Robert, I think this color is good and very masculine..."

Robert looked at Evan with a slanted eye, then turned around and gently pushed Evan, while saying in a hoarse voice: "Go away!"

Evan felt very disappointed after not succeeding in his career.

"Oh... I don't have a common language with you. Forget it, I'll drink my tea and try your clothes."

This trial took a few hours. When they set off for Sacramento, it was already two o'clock in the afternoon.

On the way home, Evan was besieged by the whole family. Nina said that he was not as good as his brother and was alone in his care, and did not help his younger brothers and sisters provide advice.

Virginia said Evan ate the specialty snacks of Friesman House alone and didn't leave any of them.

Dora and Dorothy echoed, but they didn't eat it, almost cried.

Only Robert did not speak out, which made Evan very pleased.

But Robert said that he didn't speak just because he didn't want to speak. Brother, don't get me wrong.

As soon as he got home, everyone else felt a little tired, but Evan was full of energy and didn't look like he had been riding a car that had been around for more than 160 miles.

Seeing that there was still time, after promising Nina back for dinner, Evan ran out again.

He went to the cram school where Kairole and Audrey were.

Evan was coming at the right time. The cram school had just finished school, and Audrey was walking out of the temporary classroom with talking and laughing.

Seeing Evan waving to them across the street, Audrey smiled.

Audrey pulled Kairole to Evan.

"Hi, Audrey, Kai Roll!"

"Hi, Evan!"

After greeting each other, Evan said, "Audrey, I have something to say to you."

Audrey was stunned when she heard this: "What, what Evan wants to say, it won't be..."

Kairole shouted: "Oh! Do you need me to avoid it?"

Evan hurriedly said, "Don't... it's about Christmas performance."

Evan seemed embarrassed and stammered: "That, sorry, Audrey, I can't go to see your performance on Christmas Day, um because of that, um... that..."

Evan couldn't tell the reason for a long time, Audrey interrupted considerately: "It's okay, Evan, it's just a show. Is it Christmas? You must be with your family, right?"

"Well, yes, I'm really sorry! Audrey!" Seeing that Audrey had no intention of being angry, Evan seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and finally spoke fluently in an instant.

Audrey didn't say anything, Kai Luo was so angry that he looked at Evan with anger, and snorted with a nose: "Go back on your word, don't tell your trust! I misread you, Evan!"

Evan smiled awkwardly without refuting.

"Okay, Kairole, didn't Evan come to apologize in advance!" After Audrey comforted Kairole, she said to Evan: "Is there anything else? If it's okay, we'll leave."

"It's okay, I'll take you into the car!"

Audrey nodded, not refusing.

The atmosphere was a bit strange when waiting for the bus at the station. Driver Roll kept scolding Evan, but Audrey rarely spoke. Obviously, she was very disappointed but she refused to show it.

After the bus arrived, Audrey was the first to jump into the car. Driver was about to follow closely, but Evan grabbed his arm.

"What are you doing! Let go."

"This is my phone number, call me when I get home!" As Evan said that, he stuffed a note prepared in advance into Kai Luo's schoolbag, and reminded him: "Help me take care of Audrey!"
