Chapter two hundred and twenty fourth class

Pasadena, Caltech, the first day of the school year 1948-1949.

Evan is still a student at Caltech, but he has advanced from undergraduate to graduate school.

Since you are a graduate student, you need a full-time supervisor. In order to compete for this student, several professors in the college "fight" into a group, but in the end they get the cheapest Professor Watson who focuses on undergraduate education and popular science.

This was Evan's decision, and those professors could only respect his opinions, and although Professor Watson knew that he could not provide guidance in Evan's professional field, he was happy to see it.

Is the reason? Evan's talent in scientific research and future achievements are obvious to all. With such an outstanding student, you can benefit a lot as a teacher.

On the first day of school, Evan sent Audrey to the Art Center Academy before going to his own laboratory.

"Good morning, Chief!"

“Good morning…”

As soon as they entered the laboratory, the lab members greeted Evan one by one. Evan was overwhelmed and wasted a lot of time.

In the new semester, Warren Leiden Laboratory has added several new members. These people came here, all of whom are interested in Evan's transistor papers published. They have already arrived during the summer vacation. Although Evan devoted more energy to the company and did not have much time to come to the laboratory, he had a separate communication with each of these newcomers and was quite familiar with them.

"Okay, stop surrounding me. Have the experiment been completed? The experiment is done, and is the paper written?"

"Not even? Then why don't you write quickly..."

Evan took out the majesty of the chief and drove them away. Almost all of these people were older than Evan, and a few were even one-year-old, but they dared not to be Avan's.

Because they all knew that although Avan was young, he was the real leader of this laboratory.

Evan returned to his office, greeted Leiden, and began to do his own thing.

Evan, who has both the status of student and company founder, has a lot of work on weekdays. In order not to be trapped by these hardworking and unable to finish work, he has set a schedule for himself. Seven days a week, Monday to Saturday are weekdays and Sundays are resting. Unless there is an emergency during the break, he will not do anything about work. Workdays are divided into two modes, one is the college model and the other is the company model. During the start of school, Evan implements the college model from Monday to Friday.

The so-called college model is formulated with research work as the core and coordinated with the college's work and rest time. Under this model, Evan usually goes to the laboratory at 8:30 and spends half an hour browsing today's newspapers and magazines. The newspapers and magazines that Evan read are not gossip or news, but economic and political newspapers and academic journals with strong professionalism. Afterwards, if there is a class, he goes to class. If there is no class, he starts his own research work. In addition to research, Evan also has another job, which is to be a supervisor and guide the students in the laboratory to do experiments and even write papers. These are generally the professor's job, but the laboratory is currently the newly released associate professor, Watson, and Watson, who basically does not appear. Leiden is really too busy to do it.

"Evan, are you there?"

While Evan was concentrating on browsing the latest issue of Physical Review magazine, someone came to look for him and his voice was very familiar.

"exist!"

As soon as Evan finished speaking, the office door was pushed open, revealing Professor Watson's increasingly bright forehead.

"Professor, why do you have time to come? Please sit down and want something to drink?"

Evan put down the magazine and warmly welcomed the professor.

Professor Watson was not at all polite and sat on the chair opposite Evan’s desk. Evan’s office was not large in size and did not have sofas or coffee tables for guests.

"No need to worry about drinking."

"It's really not necessary? Then I'll pour you a glass of water." Evan took the lead and put the tea box he had originally planned to use back.

"That's fine!"

"Professor, today is the first day of the new semester. You should have classes, don't you have to go?" Evan asked after putting the water cup in front of the professor.

Watson said: "My class starts at 9:50, and the classroom is right next to you, so don't worry."

"I'm here, have something to discuss with you?"

Evan sat down opposite Watson and replied, "What's the matter? You said."

Watson picked up the water cup, took a sip, and moistened his throat, "Leiton taught a solid physics class, do you know?"

Evan nodded, "I know, this is what I suggest, in order to deliver more talents to our laboratory."

"You know, transistor research requires some understanding of solid physics."

Watson seemed to have no idea about this, so he was slightly surprised, "Is that true? That's better..."

"I want to teach another course based on his course, a laboratory course related to solid physics. Or simply expand his course content directly..."

"This is a good thing, I can't ask for it. But what does this have to do with me?" Evan suddenly reacted: "Oh, I get it."

"Since it's an experimental class, you need experimental equipment... Professor, do you want our laboratory to provide equipment?"

Watson shook his head: "You guessed it right, but you didn't guess it right."

"It's not just about equipment, I want your laboratory to take on the teaching work of this course."

"All the work?" Evan asked, "including teaching materials, venues, etc."

"Yes."

Evan thought for a while and asked again, "Have you ever asked Leiden about this?"

Watson shook his head and said, "Not yet, I'm just trying to do it, and I haven't had time."

However, no matter what, Watson will first ask Evan's opinion. In his opinion, Evan's opinion is more important.

After all, this lab is called Warren Leiden Laboratory.

Warren is in front.

Evan said: "Well, you can talk to Leiden again."

"Although this may interfere with the normal work of the laboratory, I have no problem here in principle."

"In fact, I'm hoping to come to the lab the more people, the better."

"Okay, just don't object." Watson smiled and said, "I will convince Leiden. I believe he will not refuse."

"Okay, the matter is over, I have to go to class."

As he said that, Watson got up and prepared to leave.

"Ah, there is one thing I almost forgot!" Watson, who held the door handle in his hand, suddenly paused and turned around and said, "Evan, there will be a small party tomorrow night. You have to come. All the students attending are my students. If you say that you are also a student under my name, you must meet your fellow disciples."

Evan had no reason to refuse such a thing.

"Okay, I'll go."
