Chapter 203 Plan ahead

Evan didn't spend the whole summer in Sacramento after all.

In late July, SONY brand TVs began to be placed on the shelves of electrical appliance stores, and advertisements for SONY brand TVs also appeared on various media. The market promotion strategy of Applied Physical Systems Company was from Gillard, but the style was very different from when he was promoting the Rubik's Cube. This is because Rubik's Cube is a brand new product, while TVs are already quite mature products.

With the new product on the market, Evan could not be the boss. On August 1st, he returned to Los Angeles. Of course, the three Robert siblings would not be left unattended because Virginia, who is the eldest sister, came back from New York.

When Evan left, he wanted to bring Audrey with him, but Audrey wanted to stay at home for a while to make up for the lack of last year. The relationship between the father and daughter has made great progress.

So Evan left alone.

After returning to Los Angeles, Evan began to work like a normal office worker, five days a week, working hours every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The TV project was advocated by Evan, so the main content of Evan's work during this period was focused on it.

Every day, the first thing Evan did after going to the headquarters of Inglewood Applied Physical Systems was to briefly briefly review the production and sales of SONY TV yesterday with several backbones such as Gillard and Wells. Gillard was responsible for the work of publicity and sales channel development, and Wells was the person in charge of production and manufacturing.

If problems occur, Evan will arrange manpower and provide resources in a timely manner to solve the problem.

After the morning meeting, Evan would decide whether to sit in the office or go to the factory for inspection depending on the situation that day. Sometimes he would also sit at the application health care company next door.

On Friday, August 13, SONY TV will be launched for the third week.

As usual, Evan held a morning meeting.

There were only Evan, Wells and Bailey in the office. So Evan just understood that there was no problem with production and ended the meeting quickly.

Since its launch, SONY has appeared in front of consumers and peers as a dark horse. It has created two records and made everyone quickly recognize this brand.

One of the records is its price. SONY TV is the first product on the market to drop its price below $300 – it only costs $299.

The second record is its sales. Due to its production capacity, SONY TV is now only available in several eastern states. However, even in this case, it still achieved sales of over 10,000 units in twenty days.

Although the number is only over 10,000, I think it is a very common number. You should know that as of August this year, the number of televisions in the entire United States has just exceeded 380,000.

At the same time, the total national TV sales last month (July) were only more than 70,000 units.

As soon as SONY TV was released, it successfully became the fourth largest TV manufacturer in the country. Only the three predecessors, Dumont Laboratory, RCA and General Electric, were ranked first.

The situation is very good, which makes the employees of the company who are originally worried breathe a sigh of relief, and they also admire Evan's vision even more.

Even Evan himself couldn't help but sigh: "As a prophet, it's so easy to succeed."

After a little proud for a while, Evan picked up the microphone and called Gillard, who was absent.

Gillard was on a business trip at this time.

"Gillard, how is the negotiations with SEARS going on?"

After the phone was connected, Evan couldn't wait to ask.

SEARS is an old department store chain with its headquarters in Chicago. If SONY TVs can be sold on their shelves, it will be of great significance to the company.

Before this, the company had successfully acquired retail and wholesale channels in California and the East for several weeks, but the development of the Midwest was not very smooth.

Gillard, who is in Chicago, reported by phone: "The negotiations went well, Evan."

"Our products are excellent, with good quality and low price. The other party's purchasing manager has nodded to the product evaluation report. Next, it depends on whether anyone at the upper level of their company opposes it."

"Very good! Please continue to follow up." Evan said to Gillard over the phone: "Do you have anything else to say?"

Gillard has the habit of reporting good news first and then bad news.

Sure enough, Gillard mentioned something, which made Evan immediately frown.

"Evan, I think the progress of the self-production of the imaging tube must be accelerated."

"I have received news that GE and RCA are interested in opening new product lines, price comparison with our SONY TV."

"In addition, yesterday, the Dumont Lab senior management held a special meeting to discuss whether to interrupt the supply of our imaging tubes."

Evan could probably guess why Dumont Laboratory held this meeting. Ever could probably guess one or two of them, either because the other two TV giants were putting pressure on them, or they themselves realized the threat and harm of SONY and wanted to strangle SONY to death in their cradles.

Regardless of the reason, Xeno or both, this is awful for Evan to apply physical systems companies.

Evan's breath stagnated and asked, "What's the result?"

Gillard said: "It should not be approved, otherwise you should have received a call from out of stock at the headquarters."

"I think this result is normal. It takes more than courage, but also money to deliberately break the contract. Moreover, I think even if this proposal is passed at the meeting, Dumont (founder of Dumont Laboratory) will eventually reject it."

"Dumont is very smart, an excellent inventor, but he is not a qualified businessman. With his personality, he will never make his company a "villain" who is untrustworthy."

Evan recalled the information about Alan Dumont collected by ASUS, nodded slightly, and came to the same conclusion as Gillard.

"Okay, this may be a bad news. At least, we don't have to worry about the out-of-stock of the camera tube in a short period of time." Evan said: "But you are right, the progress of the camera tube production must be accelerated."

After the call with Gillard, Evan pondered for a while and asked someone to call Wells over.

After Evan conveyed Gillard's information to Wells, he said, "I'm going to New Jersey to see if I can get the patent license for the imaging tube. So, Wells, I'll work hard for you in the next few days. You can focus on production, and, in addition, you can work harder on the expansion."

"It's OK..." Wells promised.

Evan added: “I will bring Bailey.”

Wells said: "It's okay, I can handle it."

"Evan, I just hope you can come back."
