Chapter 97 Decision

Finding someone to share Carl's work is something Evan has been considering. There are three reasons why he chose Wells: First, his work ability is pretty good, second, his temper is quite suitable for Evan's appetite; third, he is an immigrant, he has no foundation in the United States, and he yearns for stability. Such a person is suitable and can easily become Evan's loyalty. While promoting Wells, he will contribute his own strength in the company, Evan doesn't have to worry about him suddenly changing jobs, as long as the company can continue to meet his needs.

That night, Evan told Carl next door about his decision. Carl naturally had no objection, so he would rather breathe a sigh of relief.

Because of ACAH, he hasn't taken a vacation for a long time.

Evan stayed in the company until after 10 o'clock, and it was a little late, so he did not return to school, but went to the "hut in the forest" to spend the night.

To Evan's surprise, when he came to the outside of the small house in the forest, he found that the lights were on.

Evan and Bob looked at each other, and Bob reasonably guessed: "It should be Miss Audrey in the house. The illegal intruders cannot be so bold!"

Evan thought so, but for safety reasons, Evan did not open the door and entered the house directly, but shouted outside the door.

"Audrey!"

"What? Are Evan you?"

Hearing the familiar voice, Evan waved his hand at Bob, letting him drive away by himself, and pushed the door in.

Evan came to the living room and saw Audrey in pajamas sitting on the carpet, with an open cardboard box in front of her, with the box the size of a palm in it, with the words "Dial" printed on the cover of the box.

Evan asked: "What is this?"

Audrey said: "Soap."

Evan squatted in front of the box, picked up a box and looked at it, and continued to ask, "Why did you buy so much soap?"

"This big box is enough for you to go next year!"

Audrey gave Evan a blank look and said angrily: "Do I look so stupid?"

Evan pointed to the soap: "That's what..."

Audrey explained: "This is from Virginia, saying that she won the prize. She had two big boxes, so she gave us one box."

"She also said this is a new product, which has a sterilization function, and claims to be able to remove the smell of sweat caused by sweat."

Evan touched the trademark on the box and said, "No wonder, I said, why have I never seen the brand of 'Dial'?"

"What are you doing?"

Evan asked when he saw her take out the boxes of soap.

"Didn't you say that you can't finish all these in a year?" Audrey said as she took them, "So I'll get some of the students who were assigned to the dormitory at school."

"Oh!" Evan nodded in a clear way, then got up and walked towards the bathroom: "Then you are busy, I'll go take a shower."

"Wait and help me put my clothes at the door."

Evan said without hesitation.

...

Two days later, New Brunswick, New Jersey, Johnson & Johnson Headquarters.

A meeting chaired by President Johnson II is underway, with a lot of content, including the response to the Band-Aid product.

At this time, Johnson & Johnson had just changed from a family business to a public company (it was only listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1944). Its products include surgical bandaging supplies, wound sutures, baby powder, sanitary napkins, and family planning supplies, and have not yet entered the pharmaceutical field.

By analyzing Johnson & Johnson's product line, you can understand why it is so sensitive to the little Band-Aid. It is also a product that treats wounds, Band-Aid can well supplement the integrity of the Johnson & Johnson's product line.

The Band-Aids matter was only put on the agenda halfway through the meeting.

The head of the product department first introduced the progress of Alex Hoffman's return from the West Coast. When ACAH clearly rejected the acquisition, a low voice sounded in the conference room. When Hoffmanti's cooperation conditions were rejected again, the voices suddenly became louder.

After the person in charge reported the conditions for ACAH, someone immediately said: "Is this Carl kidding? Do you double the valuation by moving your mouth?"

Another person echoed: "I can't agree, I can't agree."

"Band-Aids have no technical content, they are just a sudden idea. I think we should continue to follow the imitation route and find ways to invalidate the patent."

But some people disagree with this, "The imitation route is not advisable. We are now listed companies and need to consider the society's views and reflections of the company. If you are caught in a patent dispute or even a scandal, it will inevitably affect the company's market value."

"Yes, the goodwill of the company is very important!"

"Then are you allowed the ACAH lion to speak out?"

"I don't think it's a lion who spoke out loud, but both sides had different opinions on the valuation. We should be happy that the other party refused us directly, which means there is still something to talk about, right?"

"Yes, as long as it is still on the negotiating table, it is possible for both sides to reach cooperation."

"The question now is whether ACAH is worth so much..."

As soon as this question arose, the conference room suddenly became quiet and the members of the meeting looked at the president who was sitting in the main seat without saying a word.

Although everyone is arguing, he must be the one who can make this decision.

Johnson II ignored the eyes of the crowd in the scene. Before making a decision, he looked at the head of the product department and asked, "Does Alex Hoffman have any suggestions?"

The person in charge replied: "Hoffman originally suggested that he talk again..."

"But... he suddenly made a special call this morning and asked us to finalize the cooperation immediately."

Johnson II said: "Oh, what's his reason?"

The person in charge said: "Hoffman said he saw people from Pfizer and American Cyanamid at the hotel..."

Johnson II, who had no reaction at all when he heard Pfizer's name, immediately changed his face when he heard "American Cyanamide".

Although Pfizer is strong, it focuses on the pharmaceutical field and is different from Johnson & Johnson's field of expertise, so Johnson II is not afraid to compete with it at all.

But American Cyanamide is different. This company, founded in 1907, also includes surgical products made of chemical fibers, and is a direct competitor to Johnson & Johnson in multiple products.

If the American Cyanamide gets a Band-Aid, it will definitely squeeze the market space of Johnson & Johnson's corresponding products.

Therefore, although someone asked in a low voice, "Are Hoffman sure they were all for ACAH?", Johnson II decided: "Import Hoffman immediately and let him take ACAH."

On January 16th, at 10 a.m., Hoffman and Carl held their hands tightly together, and both sides smiled satisfiedly and said to each other: "Happy cooperation!"

In another office, Deputy General Manager Lewis Walker was having a good chat with his former colleague of Pfizer.

As for the American Cyanamide Company, which made Johnson and Johnson fearful, their people did not appear in ACAH.
