Chapter 47 Soul Space(1/2)

Zach walked on the dilapidated streets, the ground covered with gravel and charred bones.

The unburned dust danced in the air.

The whole world seemed to be in heavy snow.

The shadow of a broken tower looms in the dark sky background.

I don’t know how long I have walked, how many twisted and charred corpses have passed.

Zach finally arrived at a stone door that was melted into black glass.

There was a figure standing there.

It was a burnt and dry skeleton, standing quietly on the broken stairs, with charred rags hanging on it.

"Tyros, have you been waiting for me here..."

Zach walked silently to the scorched bones, leaned over slowly, and sat aside dejectedly.

"Yes, teacher, why don't you save me?"

Zach turned his head in surprise.

He saw the scorched corpse turning his head to look at him.

"Teacher, why don't you save me!"

The scorched corpse screamed, and his broken jaw rose and rose, and sparks suddenly appeared in the charred flesh, followed by flames, and in a blink of an eye it turned into a fire man.

It pounced on it and grabbed Zach's neck.

Countless corpses on the street also began to wriggle and crawled towards Zach, leaving traces of charcoal black on the ground.

"Why, Lord Lord, didn't you swear to protect us?"

"Why, you are the only one who escapes."

"Why..."

"Why..."

The burnt corpse's face was pressed up, and blue flames appeared in the two black holes' eyes.

The burnt flesh and blood continued to melt and peel off, revealing the white skull, while the red flesh and blood continued to grow on it. The burnt corpse grew into a huge clump of flesh in the blink of an eye.

The dry hands that were pinching their neck twisted and expanded, turning into two scarlet tentacles.

The surrounding corpses gathered over and merged into the growing red flesh and blood.

The huge flesh-and-blood tentacles rolled up Zach. In the air, he saw the red flesh-and-blood spreading around, gradually covering the entire city ruins.

The blood-colored carpet was swelling and squirming, turning into a woman's face. Her face was supposed to be beautiful at this moment, but her screams resounded throughout the world:

"Zach Stuart! Why don't you save us!"

"sorry..."

Zach's voice was almost inaudible.

"But I will avenge you!"

A violent blue-purple flame erupted from the mage.

The flesh and blood tentacles wrapped around him instantly turned into red steam.

"I will find the world of all flesh and blood demons, and hunt every flesh and blood demon. As long as this race exists in the multiverse for one day, my pursuit will not stop for one day."

The blue-purple flame spread and evaporated the red ocean.

But the originally restless flesh and blood gradually subsided.

The woman's face became softer again and slowly disappeared.

The city also began to collapse into black ashes.

Everything around him, even Zach's own body melted into black mist, gradually fading away like the sea water at low tide.

There is only an open space left around.

He became a consciousness floating in the void.

There is nothing in the world, as if nothing has ever existed just now.

At this moment, Zach was in his subconscious.

The reason why the subconscious is a "subconscious" consciousness is that it is not controlled by the subjective consciousness like the superficial consciousness.

For ordinary people, the subconscious mind is invisible, undetectable, and difficult to change.

But it's different for formal mages.

As part of the formal mage promotion ceremony, [Reshaping Soul Space] turns the subconscious mind of the trainee mage into a visual virtual space, which is called [Soul Space].

The mage can enter this virtual space through [Meditation].

Just like this, Zach.

[Soul Space] is one of the abilities that distinguish formal mages from trainee mages.

And its first function is to strengthen the will of the mage.

The mage is the embodiment of reason, but this reason is not innate.

Excluding congenital factors, a person's character is mainly determined by his life experience.

The happiness and pain a person experiences will leave traces in the subconscious mind, thus subtly shaping the owner's personality.

A person who lacks logic and indulges in lust and madness may develop emotional and impulsive personalities, but it is difficult for him to grow into a rational individual.

But [Soul Space] provides the mages with a means of "fine-tuning".

Zach's consciousness looked to the deepest point, and at the end of the soul space was endless black mist, which surging and evaporating, wrapping the entire spherical soul space.

These black fogs are the so-called [subconscious turbulence], which are the "distractions" deep in everyone's mind.

They may come from the troubles of daily trivial matters, and may come from the unspeakable desires deep in their hearts.

It may also come from the most painful experiences of the mages.

For example, the illusion that Zach just fought.

Through meditation, the mages suppress and eliminate these [subconscious turbulence] in the [soul space], and return to the real world, they can eliminate distracting thoughts and become more wise and rational.

The mage civilization has been in a state of war for a long time and has to face all kinds of strange, bizarre hostile civilizations and extraordinary creatures, many of which have the ability to manipulate their minds.

Under the influence of those abilities, ordinary mortals will easily lose their minds and fall into madness.

However, the mages who have no distractions have resistance far beyond ordinary people.

With meditation again and again, the subconscious turbulence is gradually dispersed and squeezed deeper into the [soul space], and the mage's defense against the mind control will also increase.

And [Soul Space] will continue to expand to accommodate more and more complex spell models.

The second function of [Soul Space] is the memory spell model.

There are many kinds of human memory.

Most of the short-term memories that are easily forgotten are used in daily life.

Relatively solid long-term memories, such as major life experiences, interpersonal relationships and self-cognition.

and the most solid subconscious memory, such as language and basic living abilities.

Some people who have lost their memory have forgotten their names and identities, but remember how to speak and walk.

When a mage apprentice and trainee mage learns magic, it relies on short-term memory to memorize it by rote, and then through repeated memory thousands of times, the spell model can be turned into long-term memory.

Even so, they can only master zero-ring tricks. The spell models of more than one ring are extremely complex and far exceed the limits that human memory can master.

Humans' spell casting ability should have been locked at the level of zero-ring magic, but the original mage Kasal broke through the shackles with his own strength.

It is said that he has the ability to remember everything he never remembers, and he has been violently promoted to level 4 Saint Mage with extraordinary memory, and has created [Reshaping Soul Space].

This opened up this path to mage for future generations.

The road for later generations has become much smoother.

Formal mages can directly "etch" the spell model into subconscious memory through [Soul Space].

This shortens the memory process, and formal mages can remember a large number of spells by meditating overnight.

Moreover, the spell models in subconscious memory will hardly be forgotten. They will be as solid, skilled and easy to use as language functions.

———————————————

With Zach's consciousness flowing.

The originally empty soul space is gradually filled with glimmer of light, showing countless luminous three-dimensional figures.

Some of them are only the size of a palm, while others are as big as a building.

Even the smallest ones are made up of thousands of lines interwoven.

Only by sticking your eyes on can you see the complex and subtle structures, which are so complex that it makes people dizzy.
